“Cleans a big big carpet
For less than half a crown!” ?

Why is it some adverts stick in our minds over so many years? I can even hear the tune!

Any more ‘old ‘uns’ that we can still remember?

Urmstongran Sun 24-Mar-19 21:01:28

Cherrytree that was SO witty! I snorted out loud whilst I read it and I’m still giggling now. Honest to god the best laugh I’ve had all day! Pure joy.

Yep sassenach we’re cheap to keep aren’t we?
❤️

C’mon Grannybags don’t give up! I’m still racking my brains!
Actually I bet tonight when I’m settling down, trying to sleep, I’ll still be thinking of this thread heh heh!

Urmston it didn't take much to keep us happy did it grin

? Only the crumbliest flakiest chocolate could taste like chocolate never tasted before.

We seem to have been a generation of chocolate eating, house proud, brand loving women married to a cigar smoking Reginald Molehusband.smile

I wish I'd seen this thread earlier - all the ones I can remember have been mentioned!

Thanks everyone! grin

Ooh yes sassenach and we all practiced the ‘pop’ with our finger in our cheek, in the playground to see who could do it the best!

Urmstongran Sun 24-Mar-19 20:51:20

Well thank you EV it wouldn’t ever have come to ME! Good that GN have some cultural (?cultured) boffins ?? Please feel free to correct me.

What about (to the sound of ‘Eastern’ music)
? ‘Fry’s Turkish Delight’
That turban! And Persian carpet. And kohl eyed beauty with the huge ruby in the centre of her forehead! Very exotic.

EllanVannin Sun 24-Mar-19 20:47:01

Always reminds of flying over the Middle East as I had it on a CD and it happened to have been playing at that particular time. Soothing.

Urmstongran Sun 24-Mar-19 20:40:38

There you go Greyduster fantastic memory! Yep, Frank Muir. I could picture his face.... And yes, the BT advert with Maureen Lipman. That had everyone laughing. So clever!

Thanks for the link for ‘Hamlet’ cigars Marydoll. That tune is so evocative of that ad. A beautiful piece of music but always tagged for me with that cigar!

EllanVannin Sun 24-Mar-19 20:40:36

“You’ll grow a little lovelier each day
With fabulous pink Camay”.

We did a good parody of that at school. I’d actually never seen it because we didn’t have ITV, but that didn’t stop me joining in.

sassenach512 Sun 24-Mar-19 20:37:09

EllanV you're on a roll tonight grin

Urmstongran Sun 24-Mar-19 20:36:43

Bingo Cherrytree good memory you!

I’m sat here, trying to come up with more and when I press ‘post message’ it’s fab that there’s another one put forward!

I’ve gone blank. Nothing new there then for Sunday evening....
