Soops Kitchen , kindness and cake served with love. Come on in !

Yay! Napisan was around when my first born came along in 1961. did you use the muslin nappy inside the terry towelling one? Double the washing. I didn't have a washing machine. Would pummel the nappies (after a long Napisan soaking) in the bath. I didn't have a spin-drier until the second baby arrived two and a half years later. Us lot were made of stern stuff.

Just for you n&g, the back gardens surviving still despite monsoon conditions here but the poppies in the front aren’t faring so well! Glad to hear Sam has recovered his dignity. Good luck at the weigh in, I always imagined a sometimes very forced wee immediately prior to clocking in at weight watchers made all the difference, never thought of going commando though !

I’m feeling rather pleased with myself as I’ve now conquered the post
holiday ironing mountain! But all this talk of very fit family members is making me feel a bit of a sloth!

soop when very small our niece posted her daddy’s watch in the napisan bucket those were the days, needless to say it didn’t survive!

Off now to collect Pip the pup for her few days stay at granny’s house! It’s not looking like great weather for dog walking this week!

Awww! GrannyGravy13 That is such a lovely comment. Thank you.

N&G Our Sam is a dog of discretion. He doesn't do fisty-cuffs that result in doing a wee behind the chairs and, having a thermometer up his nethers would have been the last straw. He deserves a day of peace, quiet and lots of pampering.

Lins1066 I am impressed by your daughter's energy and achievement. Your husband sounds to be as fit as any young fella. I hope that the weather perks up for him. It's warm and sunny here. Although, I know very well that, once the wet and windy stuff vacates elsewhere, it will sneek into Kintyre. Fair dos.

Ann I'm relieved to hear that the phone was found in a dry location. Many years ago, Torben put his Mummy's into the toilet. He was a toddler. He thought that it was a clever thing to do. His Mummy didn't agree.

Feelingmyage MacSporran's jeans are well-washed, age-faded denim jeans.

anno The sun continues to shine in Kintyre. It won't last...or so the rumour has it.

granniequeenie Your latest photographs are stunning. The jewel-like colours are dazzling.

I've ironing to do. After which, I shall return.

NannaandGrampy take your jewellery off also (that’s what I do!!!)

The sun is trying to come out in SE Essex after yesterday’s rain and wind it is most welcome.

I had a quick trip to Lakeside (shopping centre) planned for today but the traffic is gridlocked up to the main road with rumours on the dreaded “Facebook”, my AC has said that craters have appeared in the road due to the weather!!!

So may have to do some sorting out of the larder cupboard (dreading it).

I cannot keep up with all the comings and goings of this kitchen, such a haven for those in need and a perfect place to share joys.

Soop we are so grateful, I have left fruit and croissants on the side.
???????

TOYA???????

Morning all,

I shall be mostly building an ark this morning !! Get in line 2 x 2 please !! What a rainy day and night we've had.

Lovely pictures GrannieQ I am feeling a bit sad because my long awaited oriental poppies bloomed just in time to be squashed flat by torrential rain - so please post more flower pictures !

Sam is looking brighter this morning - Grampy took off the cone of shame and tapped a sock over the poorly paw. You will be pleased to know his appetite has not been dented in the least so I suspect he'll be fixed in no time.

I am off to get sorted for slimming...it comes to something when regardless of the weather I am wearing the lightest top and trousers I posses and may have to go commando to save a bit lol too much info??? :-)

Have a drier day than us !!

Just ready to go to bed but thinking of the panaches. I do so hope things are going smoothly for them.

Have been AWOL for nearly a week and will do my best to catch up with all the posts.
DD completed the Welsh 3 Peaks walk for charity last week, with 40 mins to spare. The weather was mixed, misty on Snowdon but sunny and clear on Cader Idris which proved the most difficult walk but had the better views. She said it was harder than walking up Ben Nevis.

Dh went to London this morning by train and is staying overnight. He is doing the Brunel Walking Tour in the morning. The trip is his combined birthday and Father's Day present. He has whatsapped to say that he has been absolutely drenched today, how ironic as it has been a dry day here on the S Welsh coast. Anyway it didn't stop him going to Chinatown for supper. He says he hasn't been that wet since 1963 when a combined Neath and Aberafan team played the All Blacks ( he was 12 at the time )!
I hope that he enjoys the mini trip, he has been an absolute brick looking after me these 4 months.
I had better get some sleep, hydrotherapy in the morning, DD is taking me. Hope the water is warmer than last week.
TOYA especially those with pain and buggerations.
All good wishes to the Panaches

Hello justme I hear you’re amazing! ?

Oh N&G that made me chuckle. Poor Sam. Hope he’s recovered with some cuddles now.

Been off visiting family. Lots to catch up on here. Lovely photos of bride, family and gardens. mcsporran white trousers in the garden!
annsixty I don’t often see the bottom of my laundry basket - no sooner empty than something else is in it - but glad you found your phone. I need/would like a new phone as I cannot take all these lovely photos.
I have just cried through the Panorama programme on the care crisis - painful.
I am off to read my book and hope tomorrow is dry so I can cut the grass. Really needs a scythe rather than a lawnmower. Does it grow faster because of the long days.
TOYA especially those with aches and pains. Hope the sun shines on you all this week.

N&G I said ages ago that little man needs a holiday- what a day he has had, Tara will certainly sympathise, poor little mite. If he wants cuddles, there are plenty here going spare.

n&g that’s priceless. sorry but I did laugh actually quite a lot please don’t tell Sam! I hope tomorrow is a better day for him and you too, no wonder that’s all you did today!!

Well I’ve had a this and that sort of a day where I’ve mainly been extremely idle. But of course there’s always a price to be paid for that, the price being a sudden flurry of activity late afternoon onwards as I remembered all the things I really meant to do today. Will I ever learn, at this stage in the game probably not!

Our Dorset mini break was very relaxing, a good mixture of time to ourselves and catching up with old friends. The weather was kind, at least some of the time, so we could enjoy the beautiful coast line.

Good news on your phone Ann, my dread is dropping mine down the loo! Do please be kind to yourself, no wonder you’re feeling so tired after the emotional upheaval and loss of the last few months.

soop lovely to hear that you’re feeling a bit more like yourself again. For goodness sake don’t go overboard and undo the benefit of the quieter period you’ve had. Beautiful photos as always, in fact many lovely ones in the kitchen lately. greyduster your shot was just stunning. Isn’t it just marvellous to be in the right place at the right time and with a camera to hand! Bella what a lovely happy wedding it seems to have been, albeit with its own poignant moments.

Well the rest of the week looks like it’s going to be pretty wet. That’s unfortunate as we have dd2’s dog moving in tomorrow for a few days. They’re having their kitchen extended as well as some work on the front of the house. It’s now reached the stage of them mainly living upstairs, where of course much of the contents of downstairs are being stored. Dd is at the point of not being able to remember where she’s put things. So she came across this afternoon to leave all their bedding for me to wash/dry - given the weather, thank goodness for the tumble drier!. She took away clean bedding from here as she can’t lay her hand on theirs! Good job I have a well stocked linen cupboard! Poor girl it’s being going on for weeks and has a while to go yet. Like me she hates living in a muddle so is more than a little stressed. So Pip the pup needs to be out of the equation, the other grandparents have done a stint already so it’s our turn now.

Well time to sign off. I’ve no idea who I’ve unintentionally missed/ignored, so as always toya. Wishing you all a restful night. I’ll leave some photos from the garden, seeing it was a lovely welcome home. x

Evening all!

Just popping in , not caught up yet - must do better !! ?

It has been raining cats and dogs all day here so we have been very lazy apart from taking poor Sam to the vet . HE had a bad day ! Apart from having his temperature taken ( the look on his horrified little face was priceless) , he had his poorly paw shaved and left wearing the dreaded ‘cone of shame’!

As if that wasn’t bad enough for a small dog, a very large black Labrador took exception to the cone of shame or maybe Sam, and lunged at him barking furiously, Sam who has never barked at anyone was terrified, shot through Grampys legs , got stuck between the wall and his legs , did a wee in fear and then fell over in it !!

I don’t know who was more horrified Sam, Grampy or the vet !!

So if anyone had a really bad day today at least you didn’t have a thermometer put in your bottom, have your hair cut badly or been sent home wearing a cone of shame lol

Tomorrow will be better - hopefully ??

This morning I left a lovely sunny morning in Dundee; arrived home to gloomy but still dry afternoon and now it's raining. The forecast is horrible as the jet stream is in a bad position - or so the weather man said yesterday!

I totally agree- I try to have my evening meal around 7.30pm and the latest I like to dine is 8 pm. I try not to drink anything after that hour or I will be up and down to the loo during the night.

The drains around here on the main roads are seriously blocked so we have had a few roads where a small boat would not have gone amiss. I took a different route home to avoid sloshing through it. I am not sure how much longer the bus services will run.

My heating is on.

ann pleased to hear you had not washed your phone- that can be an expensive mistake.

soop please make sure that MacSporran does not overdo it in the garden- somebody has to look after him!
TOYA

I agree about not eating late ann. I wouldn’t sleep if I ate /drank at that hour.

Oh good news ann!

Phone safe and well, found in the bottom of the laundry basket.
Thank goodness for that, I wouldn't like to have to buy a new one now that I have to pay for a tv licence!!
soop please don't do too much, it is easy when the sun shines to feel like doing something but you have been through an op and you need to recover.
As for myself I am constantly tired.
My evening out on Saturday was ok ,but it was about 9:30 when we got our main course, I can't eat as late as that and sadly had to push my food around the plate ,eating about half of a lovely piece of salmon.
TOYA on this wet and miserable evening.

Welcome Justme67 Amazing indeed. You have made me chuckle.

Ann If the phone has indeed been through the wash, Kitty's tip is well worth trying.

Nannytopsy Sorry to hear that your get up has gone. Funny thing is, the opposite has been true for me today. The sunshine has perked me up no end. I've been helping MacSporran in the garden. Have helped him to clear the debris. Feeling much more like my old self.

Breast cancer nurse will phone mid-week. I may opt to return to the Letrozole therapy (as it is the best for my type of cancer.) However, if I have a relapse after a month or so, I may return to the hospital for a change of medication.

Panache Us lot are thinking of you and hoping that you have the support you need to help you with the move.

Care home visit tomorrow. After which, I shall pop into our kitchen for updates. I shall leave you with a pic of MacSporran after an afternoon in the garden.

TOYA.

Soop we have a Jack Falcon in the family. Not sure why it was chosen but it is unusual.

I have done very little today but managed to get wet feeding the birds! My get-up-and-go has got up and gone today . I must do something before himself gets home or at least look busy!

Now hears a thing - just been on to SpecSavers about my new hearing aids, one of which is making my ear so sore I cannot wear it.
Very nice young lady "speaks" to me via my computer - I cannot hear telephone conversation, have NGTS for this purpose, and so she asks me if I can spell my name please. Of course I can,and when I do so, "amazing" she says. Really? We did get a date sorted quite quickly for an appointment, which was AMAZING spelling my own name to so. Perhaps the rain is getting to me.

GG, fabulous news!

Ann, if it has been through the wash, put it in a bag of rice for a couple of days. It worked with one of DS1's a few years ago so worth a try!

Pictures are fabulous everyone.

I love kippers GD but rarely cook them at home as DH chunters!!

Can't stop I'm all behind hand. How is it some days I can get loads done and, today for instance, I've not done the morning clearing up yet. We had an abortive trip to the garden centre - the heavens opened as soon as we got there so we came home - that wasn't supposed to happen till 11.00 - but I've never quite got organised since!

TOYA.

Oh ann ?. Don’t say it’s in the wash! Be clean though!
Thanks soop what an interesting name for your young man.
Gg what exciting news ?
panache if you are popping in just wanted to say hope you are getting on ok with the moving plans

The garden has a stepped pathway along which to walk.
