Pants on her head, or Lord ???, though more like ??? for her, I'm sure!
Reminds me of a friend telling me how as a child of maybe 10 (decades ago) she came across an old fashioned sanitary towel with loops, in a drawer of her mother's.
Having no idea what it was, and thinking it was just like little hats that were fashionable at the time, she wore it - with loops round her ears - to go and meet her mother from work. She didn't say how long it took her mother to get over from the mortification!
Only yesterday I handed my mobile to the assistant to show him the barcode when picking up a parcel. I then proceeded to rummage in my bag for the said phone (it has my driving licence in the cover) to prove my identity..... ‘it’s ok’ he said ‘your licence is here I’ll just check that’ !. Oops!
crystaltipps - "My friend went to work on the tube with a pair of pants ( clean ones) on her head (she’d been using them to tie her hair back in the shower),"
That's it. I'm done for. I have literally LOLd and LOLd and LOLd!!!
I've done that easzybee, but I arrived at school assembly only to look down to begin prayers at one black shoe and one navy. They had the same size heels though. It was in the depth of winter and I too was newly married.
I have been out twice and not noticed I had odd shoes on. The first time was at work. I was head librarian and one of my jobs was to orientate new readers about the library, its rules. and how we could help. During one such tour I glanced down at my feet and spotted that I was wearing one brown shoe and one white, I asked my assistant why she had not told me. She said she thought it was a new trend. The second time was in Waitrose the other day. I was wearing one beige sandal and one white and silver.
I put things down and then spend ages going round the house searching for them - they were put in a safe place for later - obviously. Then I forget what I'm saying in the middle of a .... There really is no hope.
Thank you all for cheering me up - a friend is having a terrible time with family illness and I am so worried about her - and this thread made me laugh out loud. I should move the fridge from its place next to the dishwasher as I have lost count of the times I have tried to put dirty dishes in the first and the milk in the second.
Just as well I read this before posting - I'd put 2 fridges and no dishwasher...
Earlier this week DH asked me to pay a cheque in for him. Left the house locked the door, out of the gate, no cheque. Take two, out of the house with cheque, out the gate, still in my slippers. Take three made it out of the house with both cheque and shoes. I gripped the cheque and bank card in my hand, managed to get off the bus at the right stop, then walked right past the bank.
My mother put the waving up liquid in the fridge and did the washing up with milk...more than once. Also fed the cat Persil and put cat bookies in the waving machine
I set out some craft stuff for the imminent arrival of my grandson. These included a packet of A4 cards.
Only a few minutes later, I searched frantically through the craft drawer looking for the A4 card. It was only when I gave up and sat at the table with my coffee, wondering if in fact I'd left them in the shop, I saw them at my elbow but still didn't remember putting them there.
Why do these jig-saw pieces of memory fall out of the patterns so easily ?
I arrived at school one day wearing one black shoe and one brown one, different height heels, but it was during the time when we trialled not putting the clocks back, (very dark mornings) and I was newly married.
Paid a visit to the GP; told him what was wrong. “Oh,” he said “I thought you’d come to see me about your feet.” I looked down and was wearing carpet slippers!
I sat in my solicitor's office for almost an hour recently, sorting out conveyancing matters. Just outside her office was a full length mirror. That's when I spotted that my top was on back to front and inside out!
