Marks & Spencer "talking" automated check outs

One of our local pound shops had jolly, jokey, silly messages ones that changed with the season but I notice they ve gone
We haven’t got them at out Mand S well we haven’t got any self service so we wouldn’t have ?

Our local M & S has Ant and Dec saying hello and some other 'slebs'.

Perhaps they might consider spending the money that goes on gimmicks on some good designers!!

We don’t have and self service at our M&S,

I love self scanning, but at self service checkouts, I always feel that I may do something wrong, especially if there’s a long line of customers behind me!

And if Ant and Dec were chatting away, whilst I was trying to concentrate, I think id go into panic mode!

I heard that Amanda Holden was doing this in M and S too.

When I do self check at M&S I just press the sound icon and it shuts them up.

Yes I've experienced Ant and Dec and Amanda all gabbling whatever when I've been putting my shopping through the self checkout, I find it offputting, glad to know there's a facility to shut them up. Thanks for that Lazigirl

Ours has Ant and Dec and some other slebs - it’s v annoying. I hadn’t realised there was a way to turn off the sound so I’ll be doing that from now on

I always turn the sound down before I start as I hate " unexpected item.." etc.

I HATE the M&S Amanda Holden voiced SS checkouts and told staff.
It adds nothing to my shopping experience and anyway, she's irritating.
I don't even like the layout of the checkouts and there is no 'beep' when items are scanned.
Waitrose SS are much better.
I now wait in queues or go early.

It could be worse......imagine Ken Dodd or George Formby voices.?
