Lesley Sharp and Suranne Jones in Scott and Bailey; Joanna Scanlan in No Offence; Brenda Blethyn in Vera; Nicola Walker in Unforgotten. All magnificent.
Montalbano - though the Italians have obviously never heard of DNA, fingerprints or preserving evidence Lewis Poirot I was hooked on Castle for a while until it got really silly Unforgotten with the brilliant Nicola Walker
I’m reading the latest Jackson Brodie, it’s a great read. I was delayed at a grim airport last week. Reading Kate Atkinson’s latest Brodie had me laughing out loud. It’s a real problem seeing our hero’s on screen but not in the image we’ve created. Brodie, Harry Bosch. John Thaw’s Morse was perfection though
Yes EthelJ, I too was thinking of Shoestring. Wandering around Bristol looking vulnerable and solving crimes while doing a radio show. Think it started in the late 70’s. Trevor Eve rather reminded me of an old boyfriend of mine but that’s for a different thread...
Same as your list BonnieBlooming, plus Luther (Idris Elba) Ken Stott as Rebus is not exactly as my own picture when reading the books, but certainly good enough. I have "Vera" backed up on my recorder looking for a binge day.
Dinahmo, you beat me to it. Aurelio Zen is my favourite too. I’ve read all Michael Dibdin’s books. Rufus Sewell wasn’t my idea of Zen at first, but he is so lovely I managed to watch it & very good he was too. Layla, don’t worry about subtitles just enjoy watching Italians I love’em. I cried when George Gently died. I also enjoy, Endeavor, Montalbano, Vera, and The Last Detective. Would Dixon of Dock Green count?
