Favourite TV detective?

I see that Foyles War has been voted most missed TV series by Radio Times readers.
I do like Michael Kitchen

So hard to choose as there are/were so many, but I did have a soft spot many years ago, for Frank Cannon, played by the lovely and cuddly William Conrad. Also quite liked Callan, played by the wonderful Edward Woodward, who was also a fantastic singer.

Bergerac was always my favourite.
Death in Paradise (Kris Marshall).
Rock Hudson in MacMillan and Wife (who knew back in those days?)
Rupert Davies in Maigret.

I loved James Garner as Jim Rockford. He was gorgeous !

I rather like Dexter. Even though he was a serial killer. Luther another fave. Loved Colombo.

Peter Haberman as Martin Beck, and Thierry Godard as Gilou in “Spiral.” And Montalbano, of course!

I don’t know who cast Alan Banks, but it’s so wrong! When I read the books, I imagine someone very much like Peter Barlow from Coronation Street!
Annie is wrong too.

How could I have forgotten Laure and Gilou from Spiral. LOVE this program.

I'd forgotten Shetland Lilyflower - I like that too.

P.S., except Montalbano. Cannot stand it or the hero. Am bemused by its popularity here.
Poor script, cartoon hero (sexist twit). Bad supporting cast of buffoons. Nice mise en scene though, I'll give it that.

Goodness, pretty near all of them as I love the genre.

I love most of the shoes mentioned including most of the American ones, but the first one I used to watch was Dixon of Dock Green. Thats a blast from the past.

My absolute favourite is Rufus Sewell as Aurelio Zen.

I also liked Van de Valt. Also the music. Eye level.

Love them all, but Montalbano is top, fabulous series too. But then there is the Korean Dane who played Alf in 'Follow the Money ', totally gorgeous J.

Miss Fisher is a stylish sleuth!

I loved Van der Valk, and Morse, of course.
