My Guilty pleasures....

My guilty pleasure is sneaking a choc ice to take with me to eat in bed at night before my husband joins me, sounds awful I know, but I do enjoy it.

I love having afternoon tea with friends, finding lovely tea shops that serve nice sandwiches and lovely cakes. We all get dressed up for the occasion: I love wearing dresses, and have so many - another guilty pleasure!

Loads of real books, many from charity shops, and a lot on the Kindle. I never used to think I'd take to a Kindle, but have found it very useful when
a) going away with a friend, hand baggage only, so no room for the 4 + books I'd normally take to last me a week,

b), being able to read in bed without disturbing dh. Esp. in hotel rooms. At home at least I can sleep in another room if I want the bedside light on.

c) being able to make the font size a bit bigger - I've been known to pass on books I'd otherwise like to read because of a very small font,

d). Kindle means I've read some seriously fat, heavy books I'd otherwise not bother with, since too heavy/awkward to read in bed.

I’ve been very lucky with them, sharon103. I won a weekend in Stirling and afternoon tea with the author MC Beaton last year, which was great fun. And other things.

Granless - I was just thinking the very same thing about people posting about where they live but not letting us know where it is - at least let us know what country it is.

Typing - def not handwriting - letters to elderly friends who are not computer literate. I know how very much these 4-5 pages of A4 typing are appreciated. Give me a coffee, a spare hour on the computer in the corner and the roof could cave in for all care! Am in my own little world!

Buying nice soap bars and doing jigsaws

Buying balls of wool,I just can't resist the colours , then I buy a dark chocolate Bounty to eat while I decide what to knit/crochet .

I find it very frustrating when you people refer to where they live but don’t give us any sort of clue - is it even in this country - get my drift. This country for me is England.

My guilty pleasure is doing puzzles on the long trip to work and back.Chocolate,zoopla looking at houses that i would buy if i won the lottery.

My guilty pleasure is Genealogy. I can do research for hours. Then chocolate covered cherries, that are only available here around Christmas. My pleasure in books is like those of us with bookshelves in every room except the kitchen. I would love to have one of those libraries with all walls of books and a sliding ladder to reach the top shelf.

I used to love comping, sharon103, back in the days when it was all about skill or slogans, or hunting down entry forms, and I won some fantastic prizes. I rarely bother now, apart from the GN draws, of course!

Chocolate
double chocolate Magnum lollies. I have one, or even two every night after dinner. They're addictive.
Morrisons make chocolate muffins that have cream in the middle and a sauce that tastes like Black Forest.
Black Forest trifle.
Reading all the posts on Gransnet when I should be getting on with my jobs.
Entering competitions on internet sites. I waste hours most evenings and not win a bean. I have had some really good prizes in the past, the days when you had to find the answers yourself. These days there are so many entries. Comping is a hobby for me and enjoy it though.

I feel so much better about my book habit! Bookcases and bookshelves in every room, I always feel comfortable if I go in Someone’s house and there are lots of books, love to have a browse, and see if we’ve got the same taste

How enlightening this has been! I shall no longer feel guilty about buying books (I've got loads too waiting to be read), doing my cross-stitch when I should be dusting (the light is so much better at this time of year), the cappuccino I have every afternoon, the boxes of chocolates I buy from a certain charity (they need the money).

Though strangely enough, Sara65, I once had a day eating nothing but chocolate (one of those 60 things to do before I'm 60 jobs). I was really looking forward to it, but by teatime I was so fed up and nauseous I could have mugged DH for his fish and chips.

You’re right. anno. Perhaps my white chocolate habit is something I should feel guilty about. I know the dark stuff is the teal McCoy, and even good for you, but give me a Milky Bar any day.
