This was not helped at sparrowfart this morning as the magpies decided to play tag around the lightening conductor on the roof. So besides what sounded like tribal dancing we had metallic reverberations through the rafters twanging at an alarming number of decibels.

Then the crows decided to have a karaoke session in the treetops outside and what sounded like a a clog dancing session on the window ledges. Mayhem. That woke Mr Izabella up who decided enough was enough. He threw back the covers and leaped out of bed (quite a feat in itself) catching his foot on the door frame in the process. He opened and slammed a vellux window in the corridor with the desired effect of scattering the culprits amidst vociferous Corvidae complaints.

Peace restored. I still could not sleep so decided to listen to some music on my phone softly so as not to disturb Mr Izabella. “Oh my god this is worse than the damn birds” came the cry from a usually very placid man as he stomped off to another room. Of course
I then realized my hearing aids were not in so the soft music was actually quite loud. And he HATES Coldplay ?

I am now sitting with a cup of tea in bed realizing I have to strip the bed as said gentleman’s foot bled all over the sheets. Quite impressive as on anticoagulants.

But the sky was impressive earlier

Despite the brain fog you describe, you write so clearly and vividly. I wonder if you or Mr I know this book?

I got a chocolate sponge out of the freezer intending to take it to the last of our carers course but, when I was putting the salted caramel butter cream in it, it started to crumb badly. It looks odd but is very tasty so I'll leave what the grandchildren didnt eat, on the side for later. It's very rich.

Izabella---love your description of the bird dances and rackets. We have a pair of resident crows who are normally quiet and well-mannered but they have now got two youngsters who, like most youngsters, are noisy and demanding so daybreak isn't peaceful any more.

Worrying times chez C.---DD had to return home early from holiday abroad with symptoms of detached retina. She and SiL went to three hospitals abroad , all useless, so hopped on a plane and came back to our fabulous eye hospital. She has already had three detachments , resulting in poor, blurred vision in one eye and needing cataract removal in the "good" eye, so these latest symptoms were very alarming. Thankfully, all turned out well as it was what's called PVD--posterior vitreous detachment, where it's the "jelly" in the eye that's shrinking away from the back of the eye, disconcerting but manageable.

Planning to carry on hacking back the weeds around my veg. garden this morning. I started on this chore yesterday and by mid morning, the sweat was dripping off the end of my nose and my face was, shall we say, slightly rosy. Not a pretty sight.

Lovely description of the birds this morning Izabella, we have a flat roof over our lounge and when the fat pigeons are up there we call it ‘ River Dance’ and then Sam runs out to bark until they fly off!! I can lend him to you to save MrI’s Feet!!

Sorry to hear about your daughters eye chicken glad she’s getting the appropriate treatment now.

It was a boiled egg and soldiers start to the day today. We are like small children as we discovered they were double yolkers! It seems like such a treat lol Mind you in comparison to the normal size eggs my eyes watered in sympathy for the poor chicken that had to lay them ! I have added a picture , please excuse my morning hair ?

I composed a long post earlier, I was still in bed drinking tea actually but it just disappeared and I CBB to reproduce it.
It was in response to Izabella’s post and the clip Maw posted, my own experience with my H could not have been more different.
He never acknowledged his condition, he just had a bad memory until he was beyond even that.

I was out yesterday to a delicious afternoon tea, all the trimmings and a glass of Prosecco with the savouries.
A lovely afternoon..

I fell on Friday, all the sorry details are on the moaning thread, I was bruised but unhurt, however I did have a good weep afterwards when I felt so alone and I realised I could have been hurt badly as I have osteoporosis.

It has been a beautiful morning here but clouding over now, very warm though.

Ann How come you didn't pop into the kitchen for a moan and some TLC? Us lot have your interests at heart. How is the bruising? A fall really does shake one's confidence. Please do take things easy for the rest of the day.

Chicken Your daughter's detached retina sounds very disconcerting. Bless her. Good that she is back in this Country. She will be receiving first class treatment.

It is almost as though you never left Maw.......you just cannot escape us kitcheners!!!!

Whilst keeping a close eye on the weather conditions in places such as Whaley Bridge,and truly commiserating with the ordeal they face,once again the threatened rain on our western coast turned out to be little more than a light dampness on the ground.Certainly of no consequence, but no sunshine either at this moment..... although every sign for some before the day is through.

Indeed the few white bubbly clouds in the sky yesterday bode well for our Garage sale,resulting in a better day and the Garage relieved of a few more items!
However our joy was very short lived, because on opening messages on our return we learned the chain in our House sale has broken .......and so we now start all over again.
Heartbreaking news because quite frankly the whole area of garden is now in great need of attention, and of course we have just been rejoicing thinking THOSE days were behind us.
Furthermore, I honestly do not know if we have the strength to go through all this again.
I so hoped for a break,one to rest my poor leg whilst hoping to renew those hard done by batteries..... before I have to face my dear one`s deteriorating health.
Sadly,very sadly it seems we are not being allowed such a much needed luxury..............and yes we were both tearful last evening.Of course I try not to let on how upset I am, but my man is no fool and can easily read between the lines.
Seems as if our luck has run out.

I hope you are feeling better after that nasty fall Ann,these trips are never good for the morale and they shake one`s confidence for a while.

We have big signs warning us not to feed the birds,yet to our amazement yesterday we wondered why the seagulls were literally dive bombing our "patch"........on peering outside we were amazed to find the people on the ground floor flat had thrown out a whole white loaf of bread in full slices................talk of overkill!!!!
Once again we have to say,none as odd as folk!!
I hope they enjoy clearing up the bird mess!!!

Tea time and a lovely friend visiting with a Welcome to your new abode card brought home made cakes and we cannot wait to tuck in..............sadly there were not enough to share!!!

Hello the kitchen! I posted a fairly long diatribe this morning and then (you may breathe a collective sigh of relief!) I lost it and the photos I had posted, and I hadn’t got the energy to do it all again! Anyway, I have not been able to post while we were away because the place we were staying was a WiFi blackspot so we gave up rather than use up all our data. The Norfolk weather was kind to us, meeting up with the N&G’s was a huge pleasure - time (and cake) went far too fast - and both birding and beach sitting on did not disappoint. My camera, however, was a blistering nuisance so photos of all the wonderful birds at Titchwell were a bit on the disappointing side! We finished off with a trip to Oxburgh Hall which, in spite of being semi-scaffolded, was wonderful. (It has a priest hole that visitors are welcome to experience. One chap did and struggled to get out again - people were smaller in the sixteenth century!). It was almost worth the two hour traffic jam we sat in afterwards trying to get back to Kings Lynn so that we could come home to Yorkshire!!! We had hoped to visit another longstanding Norfolk friend but she was away visiting family.

Ann I’m sorry to hear you had a fall, and glad it was no worse than a few bruises. I have fallen heavily twice and been lucky, but the thought of it happening again terrifies me.

Kitty I will have a piece of your cake, please, or even crumbs if that is all there is left, which knowing this lot, will be the case! I had a cheese scone in Sheringham that was the best one I have ever eaten and about three inches high to boot. I had serious scone envy!

Izabella your post was delightful! I have certainly not missed the cacophony of the seagulls which seemed to gather on the roof opposite our ‘lodgings’ over the last few days, but the call of curlews at Titchwell was an absolute delight.

Panache would it not be easier, in the long run, to sell your house via the auction but putting a reserve price on it? That really was a buggeration when you were so looking forward to that being sorted and you could enjoy your new flat with a garden which you did not have to worry about re its maintenance.

Firstly izabella loved your post. Reminded me of a few years ago when in a deep dream something made me jump out of bed and still half asleep I caught my foot in the bedclothes and fell headlong into our wardrobe doors spraining my foot on the way. The language from my DH at being woken up so rudely and me with a painful foot was very rude

Izabella I’m sorry but your well written description of a sleepless night made me laugh. We have nights like that here sometimes! My old boy sleeps very lightly and he’s easily disturbed and I am really fidgety if I can’t get to sleep which irritates him. I have been known to creep downstairs in the hope that watching tv will do the trick - only to find that he has left the volume so high that when I switch it on it would wake the dead never mind him. It doesn’t go down well!

Ouch Ann, falling over is just horrid it just makes you feel really vulnerable, it’s no wonder you had a bit of a weep. I’m so glad you didn’t do any lasting damage ? Take good care of yourself.

chicken, that’s must have been a worry for your daughter. At times like that there’s just no place like home to get some straight answers from the medics.

We’ve had a very lazy weekend but satisfying in its own way. The man came to service the gas appliances yesterday so I had to move the various bits of junk that accumulated on the counter in the garage where the boiler lives. Doing this prodded me into doing a long overdue clear up in there. One thing led to another resulting in a much tidier space. I then advertised a couple of items on our local “freegle” site. Already have a potential home for the bread maker I was given a while back that’ll be the same one I’ve been promising to use for over a year, but haven’t We went to favourite spot for lunch today, while it was dry enough to enjoy the countryside. It threatened thunder/rain all afternoon but it came to nothing until early evening when we had 15 minutes or so of the most torrential driving rain and a freakish strong wind. It was quite odd, I do hope those poor folk in Derbyshire and North Yorkshire haven’t had the same.

Well a quiet and uneventful night at the Izabella household, a wonderful morning sky, and silent crows and magpies. Possibly something to do with a circling red kite patrolling the skies. Mr Izabella just reminded me of an amazing sight recently when a red kite was successfully mobbed by a number of blackbirds working together in determined fashion to see it off. If we take time to stand and stare there is so much going on out there and it gives me joy and inspiration as a bystander.

Maw welcome back. At least your sojourn elsewhere was short lived. Yes we know the book well and it helped me learn how to deal with the foggy times. Hopefully also dispelled a lot of myths about Alzheimers sufferers always being negative or in denial. As it affects every individual differently, its the luck of the draw I suppose. As a glass half full person I also feel i owe it to friends and family to remain positive for as long as I can. I feel almost like some sort of ambassador and explaining that there are a few of us able to confront positively. Another amazing book is by Keith Oliver entitled "Dear Alzheimers".

Chicken yes its scary. That happened to me in NZ. Luckily still in Auckland where the specialist retinal centre was (information provided by Mr. I)

My concentration is waning but before I go Anne take care. Falling is overrated and decidedly risky. It is something I too indulge in with worrying regularity these days.

Panache I am just so sorry to her your news. You must feel as if a rug has been pulled from under your feet. Selling/buying/moving is one of the most stressful events. I wish you well and in the meantime, know many of us has been in that very situation at some time or other.

Hope this all makes sense.

Forgot to mention my wonderful god daughter brought me flowers yesteday and a beautifully wrapped box with ribbons and flowers on the top. It took absoultely ages to unwrap.
