This morning I got up at 4.30 am to take the grandkids for a swim as the sun rose It was magical and so warm even at that unearthly hour I m lucky in being a stones throw from the beach I was surprised as young teens they were up for getting up so early but they enjoyed it I hope it’s a memory that stays with them

I hope they remember it for the rest of their lives. Swimming in the sea is always wonderful, especially early in the morning. Late in the evening is good too.

What a lovely and special thing to do ! Happy memories ❤️

Lovely Bluebelle! I lived my the sea for thirty years and loved the sun rises and sun sets. Now I live in the town and am lucky enough to have beautiful mature trees behind the house which absolutely glow when the sun goes down.

I used to ride first thing in the morning when it was a boiling hot day to avoid heat and flies. It was always blissful.

Magrithea Tue 23-Jul-19 18:29:27

How lovely and how lucky you are to live so close to the sea!

crazyH Tue 23-Jul-19 14:39:34

How lucky to live near the sea !

Lovely ...I wake at 4 on the dot every morning....it’s so the best time of day. Unfortunately I haven’t a beach as I live in middle of England . I swim like a fish at my local pool 4 days a week...it’s not the same. I’m envious. Well done you! Those kids will remember that forever.

What a great idea Bluebelle I have my GDs staying next week and we also live moments from the sea. If the weather is good I am going to suggest that.

How lovely

HootyMcOwlface Tue 23-Jul-19 12:03:16

How wonderful. It’s been a dream of mine to live by the sea. Maybe one day .....

Diane227 Tue 23-Jul-19 11:24:20

A lovely way to start the day.

Makes me want to pack up and move back to Oz - how i miss the ocean, madly badly especially now that i am on my own and no longer self employed etc., but i cannot leave my son - no he doesn't live with me - but too far to be away from him, so guess i am stuck in London - love it but still miss the stunning beaches i grew up with.

Bluebelle, what a lovely gran you are . I am sure they will remember it for the rest of their lives. And I hope you do it again! Summer is so short... and so are children's holidays. I hope it inspires other grans near a beach to try to get up at that ungodly hour just to experience the sunrise. Being able to take your grandkids is lovely too, as so many live far from their grandparents.
Enjoy every moment!

Oh Bluebelle, I think I'd be tempted to do that every morning. It sounds wonderful. I am envious! There is nothing like being by the sea with no one else about. What a magical experience for your grandchildren.

We are a good drive away from the coast, and like inishowen, our grandchildren get their water fun when Grandad puts the sprinkler on in the garden. (We have resisted those super-soaker water guns as we know full well we'd be their targets!grin) Today we are off for a walk in the woods while Mummy works.

It's all about making memories. Yesterday we let our two year old GS play with the hosepipe. He soaked his sister and then the adults. The sheer joy on his face was priceless.

Lisagran Tue 23-Jul-19 10:10:43

Wow! Beautiful

Cambia Tue 23-Jul-19 10:10:39

What a gorgeous thing to do. They will always remember it!

BlueBelle Tue 23-Jul-19 10:01:36

Don’t give me too much credit I do often go down for the sunrise not usually to swim just to take photos and breathe the fresh air in
Not that young ellenvannin 75 after Christmas

Gonegirl Tue 23-Jul-19 09:47:24

Well you had better do it for at least the next three mornings so it sticks in their minds.

Well done. Amazing effort.

Mapleleaf Tue 23-Jul-19 09:46:50

A wonderful experience for your GC, and a stunning sunrise picture. ?

EllanVannin Tue 23-Jul-19 09:37:40

Blimey, I'd have been turning over at that time and the beach is literally on my doorstep too. What a brilliant thing that you did-------maybe if I'd been a tad younger smile

Luckygirl Tue 23-Jul-19 08:50:16

Lovely pic and lovely memory for your GC.

I'm with sodapop in missing the sea!

sodapop Tue 23-Jul-19 08:48:29

Lovely picture BlueBelle. I miss the sea a lot having lived in coastal towns for many years. I loved walking on the beach when it was cold and windy as well as in good weather.

Grammaretto Tue 23-Jul-19 08:32:07

How wonderful for you all. Thanks for sharing!

Nannyfaraway Tue 23-Jul-19 08:30:15

That's lovely
