My D is going through the menopause.

Our golden wedding is this year, next year our oldest gd will be 18, dd1 will be 50 and I’ll be 70. All of those feel like quite significant milestones but I’m definitely not ready to be old. It’s just a shame that my knees don’t seem to agree!

Oh that is so true.
1937 is nearly off the bottom.

When I have to scroll a long way down a list of years of birth to find mine. ☹️

I do feel, maybe, irritable, regretful and/or frustrated that I have lost a bit of my "oomph". Things that I wouldn't have thought twice about doing just a few years ago have become somewhat effortful and tiring. I admit I am old, but I am not sufficiently ancient to boast about how long I have lived. I'm quite looking forward to that – should I live that long.

Just planted 90 saplings knowing I am unlikely to see them as trees. They’ve been in three or four years and some are about 4ft so there’s hope. Fun. Gives me a feeling of power to plant a mini wood.

Feel I am 'older' when I look at investing in a future antique/collectible and realise I probably won't be here when it comes into it's worth! Other than that, never think about my nor anybody else's age. Just want to keep fit and healthy.

Oh these do make me laugh. The forgetting is so annoying though.

annep1 Thu 25-Jul-19 22:51:30

Annsixty what were you saying to me??

sharon103 Thu 25-Jul-19 21:15:47

Having to weed the garden on my hands and knees on a kneeling pad instead of just bending over.
Getting up from a chair and taking a few seconds to straighten up.
Sitting on the floor and can't get back up.
Looking back at all the things I used to be able do in one day and I wonder how on earth I managed it.
Giving my funeral instructions recently to my adult children.
I'm only oldish but young at heart.

I'm young at heart though.

When I went in River Island with my daughter recently and SHE complained that the clothes were too young, the music too loud and she needed a cup of tea.

I think we have a member in her 90's.
I won't name her in case I am wrong !!!

I would love to find our ‘oldest inhabitant’, Overthehills. I don’t know how many will admit their ages though. For a start I will be 80 next Monday, but there must be many older tan I am. Come on, ladies.

annsixty Thu 25-Jul-19 17:26:53

annep1
Sorry that was ?

Overthehills Thu 25-Jul-19 17:18:52

So many of you “confessing” to have children of 50 and older! I have read your posts and thought you were young grans of only 50 or so!! You all sound far younger than your years - good for you!

annep1 Thu 25-Jul-19 16:52:17

When you get a hospital appointment at Care of the Elderly. (I tried to sneak in without being seen) But worse I complained about the name of the unit and then had to explain that I couldn't see properly as I had put ear drops in my eyes that morning by mistake!
I still wear white trousers. I too wonder will I read all my books.

Too true Pittcity!

annodomini Thu 25-Jul-19 15:18:23

When I realise that all too many of the grans on these forums are young enough to be my daughters. sad

Merelina Thu 25-Jul-19 14:37:59

Watched a delightful programme on Judith Kerr last week - she was 90 when it was made. Inspirational. Gave myself a talking-to about my negative thoughts. Another ‘young’ elderly person was Diana Athill. So have decided not to get old! Ha’

Stella14 Thu 25-Jul-19 14:27:12

Dianne227 Is there an age when we can’t wear white trousers anymore? I didn’t know I’d have to give them up!

patricia65 Thu 25-Jul-19 14:20:08

I realised I was getting old when my grandson of 28 told us him and his partner are having a baby
