We watched The Light Between the Oceans last night, and both ended up sobbing at the end of it ! Brilliant film but very sad. What films have made you cry ?

The Incredible Journey. That stayed with me for years.
Bambi, 1001 dalmations, anything to do with animals.

I sobbed at A1 too. Heartbreaking. Made worse no doubt by the fact that my 6 year old (only) son died of cancer in 1980. Thankfully I have two daughters.

One Day - at cinema with DD. We’d both read book but still cried buckets when inevitable happened. So many of those listed. Would add Pride and pleased it’s not just me with ET - seen lots of times and sobbed every time!

Same Time Next Year
Bridges of Madison County

I guess both remind me of a past life!!

Sophie’s Choice
Lion

But oddly the film that always gets me is Spielberg’s A.I. My heart breaks for the little android boy (played by Hayley Joel Osment) who is rejected by his human adoptive parents and whose greatest wish is “to be made into a real boy”. He spends 2000 years underwater alone and is eventually rescued by an advanced alien race who make his “dream” come true via virtual reality.

Terms of Endearment, which I don't think any else has mentioned.
Ghost.
Beaches.

The list is endless! I'm very emotional and have even been known to cry at cartoons. blush. In Tom and Jerry when the little duck thinks he's ugly and says to Tom eat me Mr pussycat, but later on a lady duck sees him and says you're cute, and they waddle off happily together. smile.
The notebook, the Green mile, Beaches, Bambi, Toy Story 2 when the cowgirl doll sings this song "when she loved me" has me blubbing like mad. The Magic/Enchanted? Cottage. The kidnappers which is a black-and-white film where two little boys find a baby. it's a lovely film. I don't like crying at the cinema and struggling not to cry gives me a headache, and then the lights come on and everyone can see your red blotchy face and you feel an idiot grin

monkeebeat I never thought of it in that way. You are probably right. I have always thought it strange that I don't seem to grieve like many others do. I have even more or less taken my husband's death in my stride. Although he died suddenly, (almost 4 years ago) he had many medical problems, and was almost 82. I think that I was just grateful that his end was quick and peaceful.

Billy Elliott - the ending. Saw it again with my son when I was visiting him in South Afrca. He too was crying at the end.
