Films that made you cry

The Railway Children. A group of us bunked off college to see it when it first came out. Not a dry eye between us at the end (and that included the boys). It still makes me cry 50 years later!

The Incredible Journey (probably not particularly well known film of the book)

Bridges of Madison County, my favourite film too.

Rabbit Proof Fence ....stayed with me forever

The first film to make me cry was 'An Affair to Remember' with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. It was in the days when you went in in the middle of the film and waited until you caught up. We, my parents and I stayed until the end.

Happy tears at the end of "A Town Like Alice" (film and book) and "Sense and Sensibility".

Sad tears at end of "Carve Her Name With Pride" and "Love Story"

Local cinema used to run a double bill every year of the same two films.Madam X and Imitation of Life .there was a free pack of tissues on every seat and it was always a sell out .

The first film that made me cry wasThe Day Thet Gave Babies Away ,I remember we were watching it on TV on a wet Sunday afternoon while waitinf for my sisters fiance's parents to arrive for dinner .By the time they knocked the door we were all dripping with tears including my dad .

So many. Even TV programmes. Cried at Serengeti.

West Side Story and Love Story

How Green Was My Valley, I was about seven.

The Bells of St Mary's with Bing Crosby and Barry Fitzgerald. The tears were running down my face when Barry Fitzgerald's
very old mother arrived from Ireland, he hadn't seen her since he has left Ireland for America, as a young man.

Old Yeller, when I was about 4.

Leisure Seeker, more recently.

The finale of “An Officer and a Gentleman” when Richard Gere, in his whites, marches in to the factory and sweeps Debra Winger into his arms and all the other workers stop work and clap. Oh, to have Richard Gere do that!

Also the end of Crocodile Dundee when he climbs over the heads of people to get to his lady.

Yes, I’m a sucker for a happy ending.

Disney's "Old Yeller"
