You could run down a flight of stairs and not worry about falling ?

Other topics please.

Run for a bus and jump on the back platform to catch it!

Thread a needle.

Wear a top tucked in the waist of trousers without looking like a sack of potatoes.

Lift heavy shopping bags onto the worktop.

Turn cartwheels and do handstands.

Nina, thanks. That’s a couple of good suggestions.

Go to the supermarket without checking to see if Tena products are on special offer.

ninathenana Sun 01-Sept-19 14:44:52

sharon I've always hung my nets out dripping. I've never needed to iron them.

ninathenana Sun 01-Sept-19 14:43:04

Bellanonna DH always packs a head light for reading in bed if we are going to a hotel.

Auntieflo Sun 01-Sept-19 14:42:32

I remember when I didn't fall asleep in the afternoon

Turning shirt collars, turning sheets, ‘sides to middle’, pillowcases into handkerchiefs, finally, old ‘double damask napkins’, to rags. Still do it!

I miss the days when I could take down and wash every window net curtain, clean the windows inside and out, clean the frames, iron the nets and put them back all in the same day.
These days it's 2 windows at a time and that wears me out.

Bradfordlass yes - that generation did a proper job of recycling.

I chuckled when I read the follow up to the post on my local forum, someone replied to the man who wants his shirt collars turned telling him to "just throw them out and buy new". His response was that the poster obviously will not know the brand of these shirts and just how good the quality was back in the day - they are Principe shirts from 25 years ago.

Saggi, I second the 'not owning a car' and will add 'owning a dog' (and maybe being Saggitarian) for the ability to run up and down the stairs! Use it or lose it is very true!

DanniRae Sun 01-Sept-19 13:45:05

Hi polnan - I think all the posts are about genuine things that are happening to us but, as usual on Gransnet, are written in an amusing way! grin

You could answer your phone and it would actually be someone you wanted to talk to, and not someone selling you PPI or Timeshares, or trying to scam you.

Bazza Sun 01-Sept-19 13:21:20

Very many of the above, but also to be able to walk without looking constantly at the ground for obstacles which can be potentially as small as a twig.

gillyknits Sun 01-Sept-19 13:14:53

Wear skirts without putting people off their food and wear any type of heeled shoe!

Saggi Sun 01-Sept-19 13:11:49

Yesterday Nankate...ran up ‘em as well. Shows what three 1 mile swims does for you per week..AND not owning a car.!

Lupin Sun 01-Sept-19 13:07:38

All the teeth showing when I smile were actually growing from my gums.

Mealybug Sun 01-Sept-19 12:50:24

Ha ha thought it was just me with all these can't do things (smile)

Tigertooth Sun 01-Sept-19 12:33:39

Sleep all night on a hard lumpy mattress - or even a friends floor, and wake up painfree and as bright as a button!

angelic Sun 01-Sept-19 12:21:12

Most of the above, but something I saw yesterday made me think of another.
Sitting in the car along a busy road, in a slow moving queue, I was looking out of window and saw an old Lady hitch her skirt up and then squat, I presume for a wee?
I don’t know what I was more shocked and surprised at “doing the wee” or “still being able to squat”
It was the squatting down that I cannot manage anymore?

barbaralynne Sun 01-Sept-19 12:09:40

I totally echo Milly. This has given me a real boost, thank you all. I was told by a GP 2 days ago that I need to have my brain tested to see if I have the onset of dementia - now I don't feel nearly so worried, seeing so many others with my physical and mental problems!

Milly Sun 01-Sept-19 11:45:57

Ditto to all above. So comforting to have you all there when I thought it was only me who was deteriorating !

icanhandthemback Sun 01-Sept-19 11:41:11

Could laugh, sneeze or cough without crossing my legs and hoping.
Could wear shorter skirts without my legs looking like a 3d maze from the protruding veins.
Wear eye makeup that didn't highlight my skin tags beautifully.
Afford a hairdresser so my husband didn't have to cut my hair!

polnan Sun 01-Sept-19 11:37:26

computer spelling ,,

is humour, spelled like this , or humor! surely the latter is americanism?

polnan Sun 01-Sept-19 11:36:40

Understand your sense of humour here! wish I knew if and when a poster was joking and not joking!

Legs55 Sun 01-Sept-19 10:48:37
