I have a painting of one of the sailing ships on which my GGgrandfather was master in the late 1800s.
The other one was wrecked off Lowestoft in a storm. All crew saved, TG. Or I wouldn't be here!
Here's a copy of a discussion about it. It amazes me how these ships managed to navigate to places like Malta. and why?

See how long they last without stabilizers ! During fine summer weather----great, but come winter and its storms, oh dear.

smile I defy anyone not to smile at Fluffy.
I have occasionally seen sailing ships off the north Kent coast, a magnificent sight especially on a sunny day.

A sailing ship, carrying cargo from Portugal, has docked locally. They are highlighting the need to cut down on fossil fuels and climate change - all very worthy. However, am I alone in thinking having a spokesman named Fluffy speaking to the media doesn't exactly help to take them seriously!
