Anyone go to bingo? I can't keep up...

I used to go regularly with my daughter. She loved it. I found it very stressful. Mind you, we did win a fair bit of money. No gambling and greed involved. Just a night out and a bit of fun for those who enjoyed it. It struck me that a lot of people were there for the social side of it as there were quite a few people on their own.

Anniebach Casinos and organisation which attract punters to spend their money on gambling are bound to be greedy. It's their business to be so for the sake of their shareholders who demand ever higher returns on investments.

I used to go once a week with my husband, he had 4 books, I had 2, but we stopped going, no particular reason, about 14 years ago. Now there`s a big, new bingo place opened in town, BUZZ bingo, used to be Gala, and the place we used to go pulls in hardly any customers now. I tried the new place, talked into it by my daughter, but you have to have more books than I can cope with, and I didn`t like it, so never went back.

I took a lady with a learning disability a few weeks ago.
My first time ever, and I couldn't keep up - she had to do her own and keep an eye on me too!

I have never played but it’s unfair to say ‘gambling and greed’

To me, Bingo is the most boring game in the world and I absolutely fail to see the attraction.

Having said that, my friend Alison goes 3 times a week, to a '6 cards at a time' club and is constantly crowing about how much she's won.

Maybe that's it, the buzz of gambling and greed?

Leaves me cold - and baffled.

I've not been to bingo for years, but my friend and I used to go every Sunday night without fail (the big money night!).

I found it easier to do six books at a time, as I knew that every number called had to be marked off, whereas with fewer books, I fretted that I had missed marking off a number.

Once I'd cottoned on to each vertical column related to a set of 10s (i.e. the first column was the solo numbers 1-9, the second was the teens, 10 to 19, third was the twenties, 20 - 30 etc, I found it easy enough to keep up

How I'd manage it now, after about a 10 year gap, I'd not like to guess!

We rarely won anything, and never more than £20 at a time, but as LondonGranny said, it was a night out and a giggle with friends. But crikey, try talking during a calling session, and be very grateful that looks don't kill

Years ago I went to bingo, mainly with a friend who begged me to go. It was the camaraderie that was the thing, not the actual bingo as far as I was concerned. I found it hard to keep up but it was the gaggle of grans that made it fun.

I hate bingo. Why do you have to do six books at once? I thought you could do as many as you wanted.
