Just been reading a thread about duvets. It seems that crackly down duvets are much disliked. I love my crispy crackly duvet, the noisier the better as I climb into bed. I sometimes have a little fight with it just to provoke it.
Do you have any hygge bedtime routines, something that inspires pleasure, and anticipation of a a hopefully good night's rest ?

DanniRae Sun 06-Oct-19 10:20:56

This has got a bit smutty for me so I am not going to post any more shock

Ninarosa Sat 05-Oct-19 23:22:33

Ah one too many dots, sorry about that Rufus2. Yes, Pommie slang.
Here's a clean one : Commando? cold certainly ( as our winter approaches ), but fuss free freedom.

Rufus2 Sat 05-Oct-19 11:22:46

OK 2U Nina: I've counted 3 dots, but it doesn't fit with anything in my lexicon confused : I trust it conforms with GN guidelines even though you've resorted to using "naughtily"!
I guess "fai...ies" must be a Pommie euphemism for "tackle". That would certainly describe the situation as we approach our hot summer nights, I hope! grin

Ninarosa Fri 04-Oct-19 15:50:42

Ok Rufus2
Naughtily natural freedom for fa...ies.
And the word isn't fairies.

Don't encourage me Urmstongran, I love an audience !
Nina; What can you do with "Commando style?" wink

DanniRae Fri 04-Oct-19 09:15:09

I sleep in a vest type t-shirt and my knickers - pj bottoms near by for putting on in the morning. I take my statin tablet and I always have a bottle of water by me - just tap water BTW. I snuggle down on my left side - immediately thinking how amazingly comfortable my pillow is. It will have had a shake and a pummel when the bed was made. I do a short prayer of thanks for myself and my family coming safely through the day then 99 times out of 100 I drop off to sleep. I usually wake about 2.30 for the loo and manage this without putting any light on and then straight back to sleep zzzzzzzz smile

Indeed well spotted Ninarosa
Gemini ?
Bradfordlass so true.

My pillow is thumped into shape every morning.
Cleanse my face and brush my hair vigorously in the hope it will improve the thinness. Listen to Classic fm whilst GNetting and sometimes having milk and a rich tea biscuit. Pjs or satin nightie depending on room temperature. Pyjama trousers always end up in a bundle on the floor at some stage.
If I can't sleep I listen to a 10 min meditation or do a God bless list of everyone I love and often fall asleep before it's finished.
Goodnight all.

Urmstongran Thu 03-Oct-19 22:31:29

Haha! And why not? I’m trying to think of something to add to the thread .... doh!

Ninarosa Thu 03-Oct-19 22:19:59

Oh and rubysong's soporific socks and warming wheatie.
Don't encourage me Urmstongran, I love an audience !

Urmstongran Thu 03-Oct-19 22:10:52

Very well spotted Ninarosa!! Brilliant.

Ninarosa Thu 03-Oct-19 21:28:49

Aah, so much amazing alliteration happening with everyone's pillow talk.
Amagran's pillow pummelling.
Pantglas2 believes in walloping well.
BradfordLass72's almost sensual shaping of her pillow around her neck.
Venall's high haute couture of a pillow.
Marmite multi pillows.
A Dunlopillo dream pillow for EllanVannin.
Lovebeigecardigan1955's a picky pillow person , arranging 'just so'.
Anniebach has her particular pyjama pillow.
ninathenana has to remember to arrange aloofness between her pillow and her face.
And this Nina is now off to crush her cushions into submission. Goodnight all!

Gemini1789 Thu 03-Oct-19 15:05:19

You might have a point , Rufus , but my knees are not what they were. A girl can dream.

Rufus2 Thu 03-Oct-19 12:53:37

wait for the man of my dreams to arrive

Gemini; Note that no-one yet has claimed to kneel down by the side of their bed and pray before climbing in. Perhaps that could cut your waiting time down, or would it be too much of a struggle getting back on your feet again.? Good Luck! grin

ninathenana Thu 03-Oct-19 12:53:24

Marmight would it not be easier to keep a light dressing gown to hand.

I have to move the bedside clock so that it's viewable during the night, move the bedside lamp so it's easily switched off. I spend time looking at FB and playing solitaire on my Kindle until I start to nod off, light off snuggle down on my right side, arrange my memory foam pillow so that it's not touching my face to much. I cannot bare duvet up around my face even in mid winter.

Marmight Thu 03-Oct-19 11:12:29

I’ve got emergency kit too Annie as I sleep in the buff. Used if guests in the house. Such a fag to put them on just to go to the bathroom. Knowing my luck if I didn’t I’d come ‘face to face’ with a visitor on the landing at 4am ?

Urmstongran Thu 03-Oct-19 11:11:12

Your ‘fire bottoms’ made me giggle Annie
?

Pantglas2 Thu 03-Oct-19 10:44:12

Fire bottoms - love that Anniebach!

Anniebach Thu 03-Oct-19 10:21:11

Hot water bottle, in winter turquoise with white spots bed socks, my two dogs, iPad to listen to an audio book and my
pyjama bottoms on the pillow next to mine in case of fire and
I have to get out of the house quickly, my younger granddaughter calls them my fire bottoms, I don’t like nightclothes around my legs,
.
Proof I sleep alone yes

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 03-Oct-19 10:01:28

I make sure the house is locked, cleanse and tone my face, remove and wipe over hearing aids and earrings, arrange my pillow just so and then a game of 'Snake' on an old mobile phone which I keep just for this purpose. Then I read a bit of my current book. Lights out and hope to drop off without too much delay.

crazyH Thu 03-Oct-19 09:53:13

Gemini - me too ??

Marmight Thu 03-Oct-19 09:29:16

Gemini ??

annodomini Thu 03-Oct-19 09:26:19

Take tablets, brush teeth, take Gaviscon Advance. Take fresh nightie out of drawer; relax on two pillows and read book on Kindle while Classic FM plays in the background. Remove one pillow, switch off light and instruct Alexa to turn off music in half an hour by which time I'll be sound asleep.

Gemini1789 Thu 03-Oct-19 09:17:01

I shower and put on perfume , brush my long blond hair , take my silk lingerie out of the drawer and make sure I look just so . I put on some soft music and I arrange my slender frame in a flattering pose under a low light and wait for the man of my dreams to arrive .

EllanVannin Thu 03-Oct-19 09:05:33

My statin and warfarin last thing, then I toddle off and climb between my sheepswool bedding which gives instant heat without the need for an electric blanket or hot water bottle.
A Dunlopillo pillow settles me into shape and the weight of extra covers----a feather bedspread and a quilted throw that covers the whole of the bed disallowing any draughts round the sides/edges, so I'm cocooned in to generate my own heat, I don't move an inch throughout the night.

I have cotton sheets during the summer while my lambswool bedding is dry-cleaned ( costly )

Marmight Thu 03-Oct-19 08:33:37

I have 3 pillows (from baby feeding days). My ‘sleeping’ one then a firm one and then a soft squishy one on top. Both of these are removed after I’ve finished reading/catching up on GN. I have a fleecy throw over my summer tog duvet which inevitably gets thrown off once I’ve warmed up. And, I have to have a glass of water, just in case ......
