Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its been raining here in Brackley this morning.
May pop out later into Banbury then return, and relax and have my lunchtime nap , which can be from half an hour to 2 hours.

Good morning all. I was up about 5 to let Hattie out , went back to sleep and woke up at twenty to nine!
Going to London often wipes me out- everybody walks much faster, it’s noisier and busier. Lived there for 18 years after we married and no wonder I was slimmer (and probably fitter) then! All went well with collecting DGS from pre-school and hopefully his mummy will be landing soon and can spend the afternoon with him before going on to her next production in Manchester. She so misses him when she is away sad
Anyway I see it is raining, (no change there) but all I have lined up is a boiler service this afternoon so I plan to spend the morning busy doing nothing
Wishing you all a pleasant day!

Good morning.

It's very damp, grey and wet here in South Yorkshire, though the rain seems to be easing which is good as I need to collect DH's prescription today and put mine in.

Lins1066, that sounds painful fir you. I do hope the standing x-ray yields clearer results so your doctor can get on with sitting it out for you. To you and everyone else feeling unwell, sad or lonely, ?.

Thinking of gillybob and her DH. I sincerely hope today brings better news.

Take care, all.

"sorting it out" not "sitting it out"!

Mythbirtthedragon Wed 16-Oct-19 09:15:51

Good morning from east London, rain has eased now, but tennis this morning cancelled as it’s been tanking it earlier and court surfaces too wet to play on. Oh well, clouds and silver linings, DP went back to bed (tired) as I’ll now be around if his shelving delivery arrives. ? School pick up later then GD’s gymnastics and goodness knows what else we’ll do until DD gets back from work. Have the best day you can.

Good Morning All x
Wet and miserable today after the brightness of yesterday afternoon.

The meeting of yesterday with a " 12 " year old woman went well and proved that there was a long hard slog ahead with D and myself helping put some stability into the lives of the children as things have got out of hand with them ruling their mother. It's by no means their faults as this is such a long story going back to 2011, so a lot of hard work ahead.

The co-ordinator is from an independent source who works in family group meetings to help get things back on track as regards support for those who are " losing their way " in child-rearing. My GD at the moment is very low, but has said little about her feelings and has suffered in silence.

I've been racking my brain as to what I can do to help, which is anything really within my capabilities. The thing which scares me most and always has is if I had one or two of the children and suffered one of my A/Fib " turns " which needs immediate A&E involvement such as it did 2 weeks ago, out of the blue.
I'll think of something, even if it's taking her heaps of washing and ironing to do to lessen the load and cooking two or three meals a week for them all. The practical help will give a lift and help GD rest and keep her calm.

The first meeting takes place on 4th of November where our decisions on which areas of help we can offer comes into play. The children's father who lives with his dad will also be included, though a sick man who himself has been traumatised through illness ( cancer in 2017 ) but is still capable of having a couple of the children now and again.

Ah well, onwards and upwards so it is said. Thankyou to those who've voiced their concerns x
After all that I'm thinking of Gillybob too because her life has a lot of similarities to mine when I was her age and it's tough with no let-up. I hope things are improving with her.
I also hope everyone has a decent enough day.

Good morning. Autumn is throwing a burst of colour at us here before the clock change and dark hours of winter. Had my boiler service yesterday and have got out the heavier winter clothes. How quickly the autumn has come this year - I feel as if there has been next to no summer. I must force myself to do some garden tidying up today. marydoll glad you sound as if you are trying to take it easy. The gillybobs have been much on my mind. Have the best day you can everyone.

Grammaretto Wed 16-Oct-19 09:38:31

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Most of you sound rather more upbeat today so perhaps that glorious sunshine we had yesterday was the reason. It's back to drizzly drear but at least we got the grass cut.

2 tradesmen due today which is a nuisance because it could be anytime between 9 and 5. One is supposed to be fixing the cooker so that we can cook.

Love to Gilly flowers

Good morning from a grey NE.
Slept late this morning after a tiring day yesterday.
Two hour drive to Cumbria, five hours of emptying cupboards and packing boxes then two hour drive home. My joints are sore this morning.
DH has blood tests this afternoon, I will stay at home and try and find places for cooking equipment I brought home.
I have been thinking of gilly constantly and checked GN before going to bed for news. I send my thoughts and prayers gilly.

I hope you are feeling less anxious this morning EV about your family who are going through a rough patch. It sounds good that you will each have ‘a plan’ on how to help. Pulling together as a team now will hopefully turn things around.

You are very sensible to think of your own limitations here. It’s for the best. x

EllanVannin Wed 16-Oct-19 10:08:50

So kind of you Urmstongran x I'm more focussed now.

I like to think that I'm here for the " long-haul " and will obviously do whatever I can for the children and my GD of course. I'm thankful that I can as there are many grans who aren't able let alone great-grans.

annsixty Wed 16-Oct-19 10:12:37

EV I have "a friend of a friend" in a similar situation to you.
Her D is bringing up her GC as the mother can't cope.
My acquaintance helps as much as she can but at 80 her input is limited.
The Grandmother is a highly qualified specialist nurse and was looking forward to retirement in a few years, all seeming unlikely now as the C are very young.
Some folk get it all thrown at them.

Lins1066 Wed 16-Oct-19 10:28:37

EllanVannin a worrying time for you and your family. It sounds as if your D and GD are having some much needed support. Your practical help and boundless love will be a godsend. ?

EllanVannin Wed 16-Oct-19 10:44:10

Lins1066, it's my daughter and myself who'll be giving support to her daughter ( my GD ) and her 7 ! children, my GGC, (daughter's GC ).

We will allocate areas of support between us as my daughter works all sorts of hours so will fit in where she can. One advantage is that she drives so can take 4 of the children out while I can have 3 to enable their mother a break for a couple of hours and if this can become a regular thing which will give some continuity and regularity.

MawB Wed 16-Oct-19 10:45:01

EV flowers - what would they do without you?

EllanVannin Wed 16-Oct-19 10:57:49

annsixty, it's "comforting" to know that we're not on our own with this. Retirement has been busy for me over the years I must say, so it's no surprise that I can't yet sit back with ease. I'll be 80 next year but thank God have been blessed with the physical/mental ability to carry on.

I was/am a trained nurse so had already led a busy life, which probably kept me fit too being on the go. I just go that bit slower now but it's not to say that I can't still undertake managing a family, which is something nobody forgets. I think it'll be nervous energy that'll drive me. smile

There'll be those who are much worse off, with nothing and nobody and my heart goes out to them.

EllanVannin Wed 16-Oct-19 11:02:42

MawB the only other alternative is a road I'm determined to steer clear of and that's fostering because they wouldn't all be together. This, fortunately hasn't been spoken of and with this " family intervention support " there'll be no need.

This is why I feel for those who have nobody, so sad.

dragonfly46 Wed 16-Oct-19 11:18:15

Ellan it is good that support is there for all of you and lucky you can still help out. It is a worrying time for all of you but I hope by pulling together there is a solution. The GGC are lucky they have so many people who love them.

Good morning from sunny?? Devon, Sun & cloud, cooler than yesterday & showers forecast. I've been out shopping already so the rest of the day is mine to do as I please. Still catching my breath from my 10 days away, only got back very late Saturday. I will be away again for a week in less than a fortnight, unplanned but should be enjoyable. I'm taking every opportunity to try new experiences at the moment.

Best wishes to all with health/family troublesflowers

CaroleAnne Wed 16-Oct-19 11:30:29

Good morning everyone from waminster. The weather here is rather grey but dry. DH has gone out to his gentlemans club for a lecture about polar bears then lunch so I am having a morning doing this and that.
I wish all those who suffer ill health a comfortable day and hope that Gillybob has better news and is able to get some rest herself.
Enjoy the rest of the day if you have plans or not.
My best wishes. Carole.

Urmstongran Wed 16-Oct-19 11:42:01

Gosh EV seven children for your granddaughter to look after and she herself with depression?

No wonder it’s all gotten on top of her. Looking after so many children in one house must be like herding cats! It would knock the stuffing out of most people. Just the logistics of buying in bread, milk and other food, plus changing bedding and sorting out school uniforms only to do it all the day after.

No small wonder the poor woman needs support. x

MawB Wed 16-Oct-19 11:58:28

You are doing a wonderful job EV - it was more of a rhetorical question, but I hope they realise how lucky they are you can still do so much for them.

EllanVannin Wed 16-Oct-19 12:08:03

Thank you ALL for your kindness x We'll get through this as long as I've got breath in my body.

All I want now is to hear from our Gillybob if she's able to say a few words.

GabriellaG54 Wed 16-Oct-19 12:19:33

Marydoll
Pics of boots I didn't have time to include in first post.
Chunky boots are for wet/snowy winter weather, not hiking.
Keep warm and have a lovely afternoon with your visitor/friend. flowersbrew
