I'll be spending the 25th on my own again, (my choice) apart from my friendly family of Maggies, indulging the 4Rs, Reminiscing, Remembering, Ruminating!, and Reclining in the shade of our lemon tree in 30+C (hopefully).
An opportune moment to drink toasts to (mainly) absent family, friends and even foes plus all GNetters.
To that end, I'm compiling a library of "toasts", such as;
"May you live as long as you want and never want for as long as you live"
"Health to those I love and wealth to those who love me"
"May the best of the past be the worst of the future"
"Here's to being single, drinking doubles and seeing triple"
" A nos amours"
"It matters not if the wine glass is half empty or half full, clearly there's room for more!"
"Here's to not pissing yourself!" (Dry underwear is worth celebrating!)
" Up Yours!" ( All purpose toast)
""Lang may yer lum reek"
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust; when your day is a bitch, whisky (or Shiraz) is a must"

Need more to last the day! grin
Cheers. wine wine wine

May the best ye've ever seen
Be the worst ye'll ever see
May a moose ne'er leave yer girnal
Wi' a tear drap in his e'e
May ye aye keep hale an' he'rty
Till ye're auld enough tae dee
May ye aye be jist as happy
As we wish ye aye tae be

May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you’re dead!

May a moose ne'er leave yer girnal
I'm not game enough to ask "Eh!?" grin
Many thanks! Best left to the end of the day when I'm off my feet!
Another Cheers!

Here's to us, the best of a bad lot

Up yer kilt!

May Life always be this good or better

To friends and foes - I wish you what you deserve.

To those who did me wrong ---see picture.

To us who are not dead yet (drink twice for this) - and to those who are - safe journey onward

And of course....
Advance Australia Fair!

To our past - it's made us what we are - God help us!

Variation:
To our past lovers, they have made us what we are - God help us!

BradfordLass 72. Fabulous picture! Apt for a guid few.
Rufus 2, Lang May yer lum reek.
If there’s smoke coming from your chimney, you must be warm, comfortable with the wealth, enough to give you fuel.
I greatly admire your plan for the 25th. Big hug.

My Scottish family used to finish a toast with
“Wha’s like us? Damn few, and they’re all deid!”
The Jewish contingent say “L’chaim!”- “to life!” And the Irish lot have this one:
“May the road rise up afore ye, and May the wind be always at your back.”

DoraMarr Tue 22-Oct-19 08:38:09

may, not May.

May the wind be always at your back

"May the wind at your back be from your cabbage at lunch!"

In a book I have juts finished reading the main character always says 'Kill the Pain' when she takes a drink.

^ "Forever More!

"May we get what we want, but never what we deserve"
"May our sons have rich fathers and beautiful mothers."
"A toast to all those who wish me well and all the rest can go to hell"
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust; if the Lord don't get you then the Devil must"
"Here's to those who've seen us at our best and seen us at our worst and can't tell the difference"
"Fish,tin and copper"
"Strike hands with me. The glass is brim. The dew is on the heather. And love is good and life is long and friends are best together"
"May all your ups and downs be under the covers"
