Evening all, and good wishes.

Perhaps this should be on Pedants Corner, but just seen on local "For sale" site,!

"Set of revision books for English GCSE, selling these as I have passed my exam. They was very useful to me"

Give me strength!

Love it!
Reminds me of when one of my adult learners came in to tell me that their English qualification had been really useful - "Because I was gettin a tattoo and 'e didn't know if it should have an apostrophe an I wouldn't of if you hadn't learned it me!"
(The tattoo was "A mother's love" - correctly spelt smile )

"OF"?

Pantglas2 Sun 03-Nov-19 20:24:12

Lots of people got stuck on that GrandmaKT class .......‘of’ as well as ‘have of’ within that sentence and the really clever thing is to put them right without making them look silly x

Even on TV they go wrong- I watched the tail end of one programme because I was waiting for mine to start. The fellow said, "fetch them balls". Oh dear.

One which grates my teeth is a friend saying *I should of went there."

Another one one the village " for sale" page:

"Plastic Kids Tea Set"

I suppose that would be great if you had plastic kids!

(Although tbh, not a fan of the word "kids", unless with reference to young goats.)
