Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its looking wet outside here in Brackley .
Today is a quiet day, but the building and my flat is being checked out for asbestos , so have to vacate flat whilst they do it.
There is also a new fire alarm system being installed in all flats.

Singleton1311 Mon 11-Nov-19 08:59:55

Good morning. I’m heading to hospital to visit my brother he’s in chronic pain and can’t walk they fill him full of pain killers and send him home. He isn’t able to walk and has to go back in to hospital again he’s been in twelve times this year!!! I just feel so bad for him and hood poor wife as she is struggling too. I thought in the 21st century no one should suffer pain like that.

Spent a very pleasant weekend in Newport despite the rain and also recovering from a stomach bug picked up from DGD we looked after mid week. Saw Big Big Train at the Riverfront (fab) and met up for lunch with a couple we met on a cruise the following day. Watched the rugby final in hotel room. ? Had a difficult drive home to Wiltshire in torrential rain.

As always, you are in my thoughts Gillybob

Cherrytree59 Mon 04-Nov-19 16:32:25

As always lots of Hugs and best wishes gilly.?

Agree, please ask about parking, earlier this year when visiting my Mil, we were able to have our hospital parking fees reimbursed.
They quietly left the form at her bedside, we did not need to ask.

Good afternoon everyone,

Happy birthday greyduster and Yiayia4 - hope you are enjoying your day. ??

Thinking of you and your DH gillybob. I hope you will be able to get a parking permit to help with parking costs at the hospital, and that's good advice from others to speak to someone in authority at the bank.

I've had a busy day so far, and DH is off this week so we've been able to get some gardening jobs done today before the winter frosts and snows arrive.

Those of you away abroad on holiday, enjoy your holiday and don't forget to pack some of the warm sunshine for us here when you return! ( It's typically damp and dismal November weather today). ?

Sending much love to Gillybobs and thank you for spending time updating us on the situation and family circumstances. We wish there was more we could do to help but hope it is some comfort to know that there are so many gransnetters thinking of you and hoping for some positive news very soon. flowers?xxx

Happy Birthday to you Yiayia4 and Happy Birthday to you Greyduster ??

Gilly - I can’t imagine what you’re going through just now, especially with little or no support.
I do think JenniferEccles is right re the bank - worth phoning them / going in to the bank to explain the current situation and seeing if they can help in any way? You’ve nothing to lose by asking - and it’s always better to be in communication with companies etc if you are heading for financial difficulties.
I’m the other end of the country from you - you’re in the North East aren’t you? Any GN folks in that area? Didn’t someone organise a meet up in that area once?
(((Hugs))) for you x

JenniferEccles Mon 04-Nov-19 12:25:10

Thank you for clarifying the situation regarding your business gillybob. What a shame that it wouldn't be possible to get help, but as it is such a specialised field I can see how that wouldn't work in your case.

I do however think it's worth you contacting the bank to explain your situation. You did say they wouldn't stop any direct debits and standing orders which is reassuring, but would it not be worth asking if they would possibly consider reducing, or even waiving the interest payments, at least for a limited period?

Financial sections of newspapers are always urging folk in your situation to contact their bank/building society and explain the situation. You would need to speak to someone with the authority to do something, but they would have heard similar stories before and are often sympathetic apparently.

It's certainly worth a try I would have thought.

Thinking of you today NannyJ. ?. I too always think about my parents on the day they died and usually have a little tipple to toast my dear dad who I feel as close to today and when he was last here 31 years ago.

Thank you Gilly for your explanation of your sad situation. One day in the future things will change for you and I hope for the better. When I went through a dire time last year a wise friend said to me ‘things will be very different in a year’s time’ and she was right.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 04-Nov-19 11:23:50

Morning all from a slightly overcast South Notts. Took the car in for repair as the reversing light isn't working and it's a job I can't do myself.
Oh gillybob your dad sounds like mine - he was very domineering and a terrible bully. He cast a very long shadow over all of us. My heart goes out to you during this worrying time.
Best wishes to all those who are suffering.

Marilla Mon 04-Nov-19 11:17:47

Hello Gillybob,
I don’t normally post on the Good Morning thread, but I just want you to know that my heart goes out to you and the terribly distressing situation you and your dear husband are going through.
I agree with MawB. Your sister needs to take over helping with your dad’s routine. Take a deep breath and just tell her.
Also ask the nursing staff about parking assistance. You should be able to get a special pass because of your husband being in ICU.
Take care.

Doodle Mon 04-Nov-19 11:12:42

Don’t usually post on this thread (not up early enough to be included in the good mornings) but would like to send good wishes to gillybob. So sorry to hear all you are going through and hope some help and better news if forthcoming soon. Take care

Bellanonna Mon 04-Nov-19 10:35:44

gilly I don’t usually read the daily thread, but I just have and I’ve learnt about your poor husband. I can’t begin to imagine how all this must be for you. What a hell,of a lot you are struggling with..
I wonder if there is anyone in your area on here who might be able to offer some actual support even if it was just a cup of tea and a sympathetic ear? Hopefully someone might already have PMd you. I certainly would if I was anywhere near.
Courage, dear gilly, and fingers crossed for some signs of improvement very soon. ???

BlueSapphire Mon 04-Nov-19 10:30:01

Nannytopsy, I too watched four rugby matches over the weekend and Northampton Saints won!

Lins1066 Mon 04-Nov-19 10:21:51

Happy BirthdayGreyduster and Yiayia4 ??

MawB Mon 04-Nov-19 10:21:21

Good morning all and a special gentle hug to Gillybob. This torture is not easing is it, but hang on in there.
As for parking, our hospital has a weekly pass which does save some money generally from Day 3 (it also not infrequently has resulted in a discharge round about Day2- so fingers crossed)
The Royal Free gave me a free parking permit while DH was in Transplant and post- operative, but there were never any spaces in their far too small car park. A kind gesture though.
Sometimes those apparently trivial things can be the last straw.
I shuddered at your father interfering, you did not need that. I would respectfully suggest you tell your sister in no uncertain terms, dog, job or not, that she has the responsibility for him from now on.
The rain has stopped and it is a gloriously sunny Autumn day but I will be out there doing a rain dance if it keeps the fireworks at bay this evening ?sad
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Auntieflo Mon 04-Nov-19 10:07:32

Morning Michael, Annie, and all.
It's bright and sunny here in Berks, but damp underfoot, so must have rained sometime.
I'm not sure if my cleaner is coming later, as her little one's school, has an inset day. Immediately after half term. Nice timing! I did say she could bring her daughter, but not to bother if it wasn't convenient.
Not much planned for today, although I had started a bit of cupboard clearance, but am not making much progress.
Gillybob, sorry to hear that there is still no good news for you, but re the parking, surely the hospital will give you a permit? Have you asked?
Also as NanKate has said, there are many agencies that may be able to help, if and when you have the time and the strength to research. Love and prayers to you both.
Have a good day one and all.

Greyduster Mon 04-Nov-19 09:21:39

Happy birthday to you, too Yiayia! Sorry, I wasn’t quite awake when I posted or I would have noticed! ??

Sprout Mon 04-Nov-19 09:20:00

Morning Mick and all. Very wet here in Essex but the sun is shinning. Quiet day today lot of work went on yesterday on the farm. Looking for new nail parlour after 25yrs with the same one in Kent. Wedding Invitations all gone out so getting there. Hope everyone is ok today

Nannytopsy Mon 04-Nov-19 09:19:45

Morning Mick, morning all!
Wish we were in the sun with Urmstongran & Pantglas! While I was working, we always had at least one holiday booked but currently our only outing is one night in a Leicester Travelodge! Must do something about that!
Husband has gone for his diabetes check so I had better get up and continue the painting. It was somewhat delayed by watching four rugby matches over the weekend but at least Leicester won! Our new shed arrives today so lots of excitement ?.
As others have said, love to Gilly and wish we could help.
☀️ To everyone with coughs, colds, aches and pains.

Yiayia4 Mon 04-Nov-19 09:12:22

Happy Birthday Greyduster snap! my birthday also.

Pantglas2 Mon 04-Nov-19 09:10:45

Thanks for the background gillybob and you’ve summed it up perfectly- a right piece of crap it is!

Not a lot you can do about your dad except lean on sister to pull her weight and hopefully the lads at work will do whatever they can to keep the boat afloat as it were, after all they’re in it as well!

Here’s hoping for improvement today x
