Same as yourself Rosy.
But in a large yorky pud and onion gravy.

Crusty bread and stinky cheese.
Eating low carb at the moment so have to make do with homemade keto bread which is far inferior to the real thing made by my local village bakery. sad

H- - -z Tomato Soup
Followed by
Warm Custard

Mapleleaf Wed 27-Nov-19 09:30:36

This kind of weather - stew and dumplings.

MawB Wed 27-Nov-19 09:36:06

Heinz tomato soup with garlic bread unless a bliddy greyhound has snarfed it off the worktop while I went to answer the door
Hmm somebody is in danger of getting rehomed - Paul O’Grady, are you listening?

Mcauliffe27 Wed 27-Nov-19 09:57:31

It’s got to be chocolate for me.X

Charleygirl5 Wed 27-Nov-19 10:01:16

No need to get in touch with Paul O'Grady MawB. I recognise when a dog is unloved and uncared for. Poor Hattie.

Spag bol and a glass of wine for me.

An egg - boiled, scrambled, poached - with toast and butter or fried on fried bread. Yummy.

BBbevan Wed 27-Nov-19 10:08:48

If only! Being a reversed diabetic my comfort food is severely restricted. I have a cake, usually an apple turnover, on a Friday.

Kartush Wed 27-Nov-19 10:10:17

Cheese and eggplant sandwiches

POBCOB Wed 27-Nov-19 10:13:06

Porridge made with water in the microwave. Yummy!

henetha Wed 27-Nov-19 10:14:27

Bread and milk. Preferrably white bread, soaked in hot milk and covered in sugar. It gorgeous and takes me right back to childhood.
Also, sausage and mash. Stew with dumplings....

Skweek1 Wed 27-Nov-19 10:17:37

Oh, me too, GagaJo - with a slice of cheese! - I do under grill - one side, turn over, put on the marmite and cheese and then second side. For a really huge supper, a small tin of beans on top! Even more yummmmm! Or from chippy Kate & Sydney/Snake & Pygmy Pudding with mushy peas & chips

A lamb stew, plenty of root vegetables and a dollop of HP sauce with it. Husband hates it so I make it whenever he's away and eat it over 2 days.

H1954 Wed 27-Nov-19 10:19:03

Fish finger sandwiches
Red wine with dark chocolate
Jacket potato with grated cheese
Porridge.......the proper stuff, no instant alternatives
Bowl of baked beans with bread and butter
Oh, the list goes on depending on my mood and why I need comforting! ??

Phloembundle Wed 27-Nov-19 10:20:56

Vintage cheddar with onion on toast.

25Avalon Wed 27-Nov-19 10:22:53

Grate some cheese on top of buttery mashed potato and pop it under the grill until it is light brown and bubbling. If no time for mash potato just do the cheese on its own and serve with bread and butter.

Pudding123 Wed 27-Nov-19 10:23:28

Lancashire Hotpot ,made in the oven for 3 to 4 hour s so the potatoes are all brown and sticky on the top.!

Pearlsaminger Wed 27-Nov-19 10:27:38

Mashed potato. Maybe some gravy. But definitely mash. It was my staple diet for 6 years after stomach surgery that went horribly wrong and I had to learn to eat again.

Everyone says I should be sick of mash after eating it day in day out for so long, but I love it and it’s definitely my comfort food smile

After 20-odd years of eating wholemeal bread, I had a couple of thick slices of toasted white bread last week, dripping with butter, and with a good grind of sea salt scattered over the surface. (Don't knock it until you have tried it!) I had forgotten how utterly divine it tastes. Wholemeal is now off the menu.

Ginsters Peppered steak slice, only when they're on offer though, with lashings of pickled red cabbage.

Corned beef hash.

What makes food into comfort food? Most of the above look like normal meals in winter.

Starblaze Wed 27-Nov-19 10:37:26

Chips with beef slices in Gravy and cheese. Every Wednesday. I love Wednesdays.

TrendyNannie6 Wed 27-Nov-19 10:44:43

Cottage pie topped with cheese

Kim19 Wed 27-Nov-19 10:47:42

Soggy scrambled egg or tinned rice pudding are my go tos.
