Charleygirl, not guilty! My lurgy is now nearly three weeks old and showing little sign of abating. I hope, on the other hand, that yours is short-lived as this one is now bronchitis and really unpleasant. Tara needs someone to look after her, so get well soon!

I'm now down South after a reasonably uneventful journey. The train was only 15 minutes late getting into Oxford which gave me time to catch the train to Didcot. Now in the bosom of the family. And it isn't raining yet.

corner heaven knows how much this house costs because it is in a very expensive part of outer London. As stated I am happy to have a look at the house and give them my thoughts. On the whole, he does listen to me where money is involved.

I’d have been discombobulated too kitty. Might she be stressed, worried or otherwise struggling about something else and that has spilled over in her email to you? Our lot aren’t great card senders either, generational attitudes change. Try to put it behind you. It’s a strange time of year to hear about serious illness, seems more difficult to hear somehow. Feet up and relax now .

Oh blimey charley, interesting times ahead for your nephew I fear. Is he amenable to nagging? Sometimes the experience of maturity is not only helpful but essential.

For someone I have never met, soop, I really missed you.

I've had a depressing day! First we got a card from the husband of an old friend who told us that his wife is in hospital with clots on the lung following cancer treatment.

Then, the sil I felt was a like a sister sent me an email complaining about our children not sending Christmas cards, thank you letters or going to see them. None of our children send cards, they assure me that they did send thank you letters and sil and her dh live 300 miles away.

I was so discombobulated by this that I went shopping without my purse.

I'm right fed up!

Welcome home soop, the kitchen has not been "itself" whilst you have been AWOL

Ho hum! After three weeks less one day in the wilderness, I am truly happy to be able to walk into the kitchen.

Dear Baggs A huge thank you for stepping in and relaying my messages.

I have missed you lot dreadfully. I have now to check well over 300 emails and do my utmost to catch up with all the happenings. It's going to take me some time to do so. Please be patient. I shall be back in the loop as soon as I'm able.

Four engineers. Umpteen fruitless calls . Buggerations galore. Two faults, neither on our premises. MacSporran has maintained his decorum. I, on the other hand... have not.

Tomorrow, in between doing last minute stuff in preparation for the so-called festive season, I shall return and begin the task of updating myself.

Huge hugs all round. Have I mentioned that I've missed you? Well, I have.

My nephew popped in and kindly brought a light takeaway. Just what was needed. He and his girlfriend put an offer on a house and it has been accepted. He said there was a lot to do- painting everywhere and new carpets.

I asked how old the house was- blank. What is the state of the roof, guttering and downpipes, when was it last rewired etc all blank. Are you getting it surveyed- blank. At that stage, I gave up.

I have offered to have a look at it because they do not appear to have a clue. It backs on to green fields and my immediate thought was houses and high rises.

From the photo, it looks like a 1920's brick-built building and inside needs a lot of work such as a new kitchen and bathroom for starters. Neighbours have had new roofs fitted so that gives me another clue.

Some sunshine today- it makes a change from heavy rain.

Met a Kitchen friend and her husband yesterday for the first time. As lovely as I thought she would be. Mr C now believes I don’t spend my days chatting with axe murderers

It’s been dry here, hooray, so we took ourselves off to Cheddar for a walk around, very quiet there. Enjoyed coffee and a mince pie before lunch in a garden centre. Could have been a mistake as we came home with all sorts of reduced things we didn’t know we needed, or indeed wanted. . Ironing next then a couple of phone calls. If I don’t get distracted and manage it all it will have been a good day.

Isn’t it strange without our soop? I can image that BT is being creatively turned into a less than positive word.

We popped down the road this morning (we live at top end of our High Road shops are down the hill) there was water flowing down from the golf course, drains overflowing. Fortunately it has now stopped raining, but our garden is very very "boggy"!

Quiet day today, just catching up with washing etc. Mr.Gravy is cooking this evening, something with chicken breasts.

No news here , yesterday rained from dawn to dusk so we hunkered down with movies and crotchet lol .

I’ll try and pop back in later - leaving some really nice curried cauliflower soup on the side and some fresh rolls from the village bakery !

Galen, you have me worried: 'sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything'. Surely not quite yet.

Been trying to keep up recently. Hope Dragonfly is feeling better.
Still no news of Panache though.
News here, DH has a date for his op. He'll be admitted to hospital on 6th Jan for op on 7th. I have booked a week in the hotel across the road from the hospital so all we have to further arrange is an ambulance to bring him home on discharge.
We're arranging for a bed to be brought downstairs in the short term and fortunately gave a ground floor shower and WC.
Only nuisance factor currently is that a bad earache and neck rash that I've developed turns out to be shingles. I don't feel unwell but look like an extra from a horror film however, much better to have it now and not in January. ?
Still no news about when our dear soop might have her internet sorted?
Going to have an early night so signing off for now.
