Thank you gramaretto and Mary.
Hoping that things are starting to improve??we have had a lot of thinking time the last couple of months and booked a few things for later in the year when hopefully things will be back on track.
I feel very blessed though and have to say I count my blessings every day.

Marydoll Thu 09-Jan-20 20:26:58

I'm glad too, Susan. I came back from Rome with bad cellulitis in both legs and was told I was very lucky that I didn't contract sepis. ?. Another day without treatment.....and the outcome could have been very serious.

I hope things start to improve for you and your DH, it has been such a difficult year for you.

Grammaretto Thu 09-Jan-20 19:26:29

I'm glad it isn't cellulitis Susan, that's a horrible thing to be avoided at all costs.
Roll on Summer! and we can get out more for that gentle exercise we all need.

Susan56 Thu 09-Jan-20 13:42:31

Gramaretto, apparently swelling caused as he hasn’t been very active while suffering with flu.The nurse said it’s an age thing.

Grammaretto Thu 09-Jan-20 13:04:49

Susan56 that must be a huge relief to be home. Is it cellulitis?

The horror stories continue at poor Gillybob's
You have been marvellous throughout despite your painful mouth.

I remember once begging the dentist to pull out all my teeth as the pain was so bad. He said it was sinus pain - not teeth at all.

BladeAnnie Thu 09-Jan-20 12:58:31

Thanks to all for being welcoming ? x

Susan56 Thu 09-Jan-20 11:56:14

Thank you so much for all your good wishes. We have just got home after 14 hours and I have to say I feel we were two of the lucky ones as we had a trolley and chair in a little side room.It was heartbreaking seeing such sick people lined up on chairs for hours on end.DH has more antibiotics. We ended up in A and E as his feet and legs were swelling as we watched them?seeming slightly better now.We ended up over the border in North Wales,it literally seems to depend on the day and who we manage to speak to as to where we are sent.
I am so sorry your DH has flu gilly and wish him a speedy recovery, also sending get well wishes to your son and for you?
Mary, hope you are feeling better today.
Good wishes to all.

Beautiful morning here in Norwich . Bright sunshine so washing done and blowing horizontal! I know it probably won’t last but it’s a case of making the most of it! Very mild also so heating off and a few windows open for a bit of a blow through.
Need to put some compost on tubs of tulips which are appearing far too early for their own good!!???????
Hard floors washed also!!
Still worried for cousin in south Australia. Although they had torrential rain in the past two days, it was no where near enough. Just because there is not so much on the news now, it does not mean that the end is in sight. Far from it.

Welcome BladeAnnie

Nortsat46 Thu 09-Jan-20 11:05:37

Good morning Mick and the GM team.
Ginny your friend is so fortunate to have someone as thoughtful and dedicated on her side. I think we could all do with a Ginny in our lives.
Susan so sorry to hear about your stint in A&E. I hope matters progress quickly and positively for your DH. I had a lot of stints in A&E last year and remember the delight but exhaustion on getting home. Do remember to look after yourself.
BladeAnnie welcome.
Gillybob sending all good thoughts to you and your DH.
Pantglas no mention of your chamberpot of tea - my day doesn’t begin properly until I have had a chamberpot of coffee and I know you’ve got yours of tea.

Quiet day for me today, have had a cough and sore throat for 7 days ... fervently hoping it does not become anything worse.
Good thoughts to all, GM thread readers, posters and especially those on our team who are facing challenges today. ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Jan-20 10:56:48

gillybob the run of ill health and written luck must surely end soon flowers

I missed Ellakeats thread, where would I find it?

Callistemon Thu 09-Jan-20 10:17:00

Good morning Mick and everyone
It's brightish here in S Wales but there are a few ominous looking clouds around.

I hope your husband is seen soon, Susan; yesterday I was told about an acquaintance, a lovely lady well into her 80s who was taken to hospital and had to stay in the ambulance outside for 9 hours! At least your DH has progressed into the hospital, hope they see him and treat him quickly.

I have physio later, DH has an eye appointment, January seems to be all medical appointments at the moment. And a lot of coughing.

However, having read your post gillybob, I realise we are fine but I am so sorry that things have taken a backward step for all of you. I just hope and pray that you can all make some progress, your DH gets over the flu, your ongoing tooth problem gets sorted this time and that your DS receives the appropriate treatment asap.

Post your cards early to Oz, EllanVannin!!
I was way before the last posting date for Christmas and have been told they have just received them. Postage is not cheap either.

Hello and welcome BladeAnnie it’s always lovely to say ‘hi’ to newbies!
?

For all those feeling poorly, with hospital appointments, or worries about health and family I hope good news and ☀️ is on its way very soon. You really are such a lovely, caring bunch of virtual friends. x

BladeAnnie Thu 09-Jan-20 10:06:46

Good Morning from a bright but very windy mid-notts. Torrential rain overnight - evidenced by our neighbours garden being under water. Ours alway goes after theirs so fingers crossed it remains dry for the day. After following this thread for a while without posting (shy??), I feel as though I sort of know lots of you if that makes sense? Thoughts and prayers with you all who are you going through difficult times - especially gillybob x

Urmstongran Thu 09-Jan-20 09:50:58

Good morning everyone from South Manchester where it chucked it down last night but it’s dry again this morning. I’m waiting for the practice nurse to ring me sometime today with my test results. I took a bit of a dip again yesterday but feel okay this morning. I do seem to be having more good days so that’s encouraging. Mind you I’ll jump when the phone rings because I’m slightly anxious.

Oh gillybob what an awful time you’re having to endure. You are such a strong lady you do seem to find the strength from somewhere to cope. A lot of people would fold like a ten dollar bill.

Talking of American money reminds me of Meghan & Harry. What a bombshell. Must admit my first reaction last night was ‘good riddance’.

Right I’m going to drink my cuppa, read the rest of the the posts on this thread then catch up with the newspapers!

Hope Thursday is good to us all whether we have plans or, like me, none. x

gillybob Thu 09-Jan-20 09:35:28

Good morning from the NE coast where we have had heavy rain all night and it’s still lashing down.

Have had a rotten few days so in a nutshell (so as nit to hire you all to tears with my misery) :

DH quite poorly with the flu. Very worrying considering his immune system is very weakened following long stay in ICU . He is also in a lot of pain with the huge bladder stone.

My tooth is an ongoing saga. Specialist said swelling and pain radiating from sinus (infection or possibly ruptured membrane following ongoing dental surgery) and may not be relieved by pulling the tooth. On more (different) antibiotics and waiting for app to see ENT specialist. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

My poor son was rushed to hospital by ambulance after a member of the public dialled 999 suspecting he was heaving a heart attack. He suffers terribly with panic attacks/anxiety but even the paramedics suspected his heart, so he spent Tuesday night in hospital and I had to collect the children and bring them here, not ideal with DH being so unwell but had little choice. It turns out that DS has very high BP giving cause for concern. He is only 39.

It never rains but it lashes down.

Having said all that I am so upset reading the thread started by EllaKeats . Puts things into prospective I think . sad

Love to all,

Gillybob x

Good morning from a rainy NE.
We had our lunch out yesterday and did a big grocery shop so today will be a stay at home day.
Expecting to hear from relative abroad as to what treatment they will receive, we do know it will be palliative.
Best wishes to all who are ill and struggling.

Good morning from a damp, windy Essex. School volunteering today so will be busy, but do enjoy the contrast after looking after DGSs yesterday! Blue Sapphire, I admire you with the workmen in for your cloakroom. I have been putting off the job as hate the disruption but sure it will be worth it in the end. Good wishes to Susan 56 and Marydoll, stop shopping!!! ? Hoping everyone has the best day they can xxx

Alygran Thu 09-Jan-20 08:33:11

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It has been very wet overnight. Hopefully it will improve through the morning as I am off to meet a friend in Saltburn. I love to see the sea, even the cold rough North Sea! We will be having fish and chips at the seafront cafe.
Sorry to hear about your trip to A&E Sarah. Hope you are both back home soon.
Ginny what an incredible friend you are. Good luck this afternoon.
Mary take it easy today. No shopping, especially for boots!
Good wishes for speedy recoveries to all on the sick list.
Hope today is kind to everyone.
