Meghan (unlike Harry) loves the attention, easy to see. She would not be happy if ignored. I wish it would happen, a whole week with no photos of either of them.

I wonder who does own that luxury house they are staying in. And when they were offered it, I assume the owner was made aware it would be for a lot longer than the initial 6 week break.

If I was Canadian, I'd be a bit miffed to think they are just staying there as a convenient country next to her home. Then when Trump is no longer Present, they'll apparently move back to USA.

Exactly tickingbird. W & C seem to get on with their lives without feeling the need to empower anyone or delivering lectures to the plebs or growing their global brand. The majority of the other senior royals seem to recognise their enormous privilege and understand their role is to present awards and open hospital wings. It’s been said numerous times already - H and M want all the trappings of being royal and the fame and recognition that goes with it, but none of the responsibilities and constraints.

St Katherine doesn’t bang on about issues ie carbon footprints. She doesn’t write “you are loved” on a banana for a street prostitute who possibly isn’t loved by anyone and quite conceivably gets beat up and abused on a regular basis. It’s that type of playing to the camera that’s turned people against her. I’ve said it before, I don’t believe it’s the press or the People that have caused this. She doesn’t like royal life. It goes against the grain with her. I don’t have a problem with that as long as everything royal is left behind. I’d respect them then.

Catherine isn’t perfect, it used to irritate me how she always held her clutch bag timidly in front of her instead of at the side, striding out like Diana used to. But she is doing the job she married into. Supporting William and the Queen, but also she appears to be bringing her children up to enjoy a reasonably ‘normal’ life whilst accepting their royal heritage.
The pictures she takes of her children, then shown to the nation, are lovely. Letting us get a glimpse of their lives, but not too much.
I’m sure the Queen thinks she is doing an excellent job, and bitchy comments on GN are irrelevant.

Diana and Kate were very young, Fergie was born into that kind of life but Meghan had a good life with plenty of money and freedom - she took a sniff, if wasn't what she'd expected so she left the job. Harry needed a strong woman to show him another way - She fits the bill perfectly. I do hope that they drop the HRH rather than trading on it - much respect if they do.

Catherine quietly gets on with life. She does what is required in her role and no more. No seeking sympathy on documentaries for her.

When St. Catherine beams for the camera it’s because she wants her photo taken? Or she no doubt nobly wants to publicise the charity. It’s funny when St Catherine gets her camera out and issues pics of the kids is it because she craves attention? Or just want to keep the fawning plebs happy? When she gets her outfits picked over it’s shock horror! Don’t criticise this perfect specimen of Englishness. I don’t wish either of them ill, but the one sidedness and hypocrisy is appalling.

Bridgeit I never said anything about you not belonging here. I asked you to stop policing the forum. If some of the comments offend you it’s best not to read them. It’s a topic that’s really got people going, not just on GN. Personally, I don’t think it’s down to racism, although there may be some racism. I’ve surprised myself to be honest because I’m not normally too fussed about the RF. I do like them but don’t particularly follow them. I think at the heart of it, it feels like an attack on us - OUR royal family. It’s aroused some collective sense of indignation. I wouldn’t even say it’s patriotism or nationalism. The Queen’s been there since before I was born and lots of people feel she, and therefore we, have been disrespected.

Calling the whole country racist (not you) really isn’t helping and once personal attacks on each other start to fly around, it only fans the flames.

Yes PV, a good observation. One week they can't take their hands off each other, the next they're apart for 2 weeks or so looking rather more happy than before.

I think some posters on here are out of touch with the workings of publicity in the modern world. MM has her own PR agents working at the double, it's all engineered and carefully selected. I for one am intrigued at how the machine works and if by criticising MM I am actually criticising her representatives then that is fair game.
