With all the goings on in the royal family at the moment, it occurred to me I’d pay good money to hear what she thinks of it all! Not that we ever will of course- she’s more old school ‘never complain, never explain’.

Callistemon Wed 22-Jan-20 17:46:13

It's like banging wall head your against (arrange in a sensible order) to try to explain or put on a link hoping people will say 'oh, really. I didn't know that! That's interesting'

Elegran Wed 22-Jan-20 14:38:48

Some posters ideas are still stuck in 1992, Callistemon

Oopsminty Wed 22-Jan-20 14:25:09

I like Princess Anne

She's the most hard working Royal

Most of her engagements aren't particularly publicised by the national press

Callistemon Wed 22-Jan-20 14:19:17

Several of the Royal Family who have been accused of receiving tax payers' money have not received anything from the Civil List now Sovereign Grant since 1992!

Anniebach Wed 22-Jan-20 14:17:33

Anne doesn’t ‘do media’, doesn’t do public huggy caring.

She does much for charities and cares .

PaddyAnne Your postings about royalty could benefit from some facts.
"Princess Anne has set a precedent for working as a senior royal and establishing private finances.

Her residence, Gatcombe Park, is privately owned and the Princess Royal runs the estate as a working farm, and as a venue for equestrian eventing.

This means that she does not receive income form the Sovereign Grant for its upkeep, unlike other royal residences.

Although the princess has attracted criticism in the past for her stated desire to live as a private citizen, nevertheless her decision to finance her estate privately has meant she has been able to enjoy more freedom in her private life.

Her children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, are not working royals and do not have any royal titles, either.

Anne’s children meet their own expenses from their careers – Peter owns a sports management company, and Zara is a professional sportswoman.

A reply to some of the posters on here that were of the opinion that my post was maybe facetious. To MawB I did not even presume to know Princess Anne in fact how could I? anymore than even any of you who are writing in the posts.

Perhaps I could have worded it better and it could have come across differently I do like Princess Anne but she will not give any public interviews on anything that is going on with the Queen or anyone else at the moment. Princess Anne out of all the Queens children has always been completely stiff upper lip and get on with the job in fact often overlooked when really she is a hard worker.
I did give an opinion it was my opinion Anne does love her horses to death everyone knows that also her dogs and now she has grand-children as well. Let her have her privacy and her life if some of the other Royals are making a mess of their lives it is not her fault why should she lose sleep over them.

huge sums of public cash

Do you have a link to details of her expenditure, please, paddyann
We could scrutinise it and see if she is good value for money.

Callistemon Wed 22-Jan-20 12:40:54

Princess Anne does not get public funding.
Presumably she may get expenses for each public visit she makes.

She certainly doesn't spend a lot on clothes as many have been re-fashioned.

There are a lot of misconceptions about the RF and their funding.

And I applaud them Paddyanne as we should. And yes there are so many people working hard for those who need help often never being thanked properly. I am in no way saying I agree with a monarchy but as an individual Anne is ok.

paddyanne Wed 22-Jan-20 12:13:15

YOU may be very fond of her Jacq10 but please dont include me or anyone I know. The woman does a job for which she is very well paid ....oh if only everyone could be handed huge sums of taxpayers cash for smiling (sometimes) and shaking hands .She does what she has to do to keep her standard of living...like the rest of us .Having her name on a charities notepaper doesn't make her a saint.I know many people older than her who work their socks off for charities for no pay .Maybe they are the ones you should be applauding!!

Callistemon Wed 22-Jan-20 11:34:12

She is absolutely on top of her brief and obviously does her homework before attending a function and talking to people.

jacq10 Wed 22-Jan-20 11:05:00

We are very fond of her up here in Scotland. She is a hard working royal as has been said and supports a lot of charities. A keen sportswoman and is patron of Scottish Rugby and attends many of their matches. Her daughter chose to marry in Scotland - a fairly low-key affair by royal standards. I too would like to be a fly on the wall if she was discussing H&M with her father!!

Nice story * Grannyactivist*

JessK Wed 22-Jan-20 10:51:29

The epitome of a hard working royal. It's a shame that some of the other royals don't follow her example.

grannyactivist Wed 22-Jan-20 10:38:52

DanniRae I agree that Princess Anne may sometimes ‘appear’ to be detached or emotionless. However, she once, in a very public arena, went out of her way to to offer support to my daughter that demonstrated not only empathy, but a real understanding of my daughter’s needs in that moment. Her response was so sincere and compassionate that since that time (about eight years ago) I’ve viewed her in a very different light.

annep1 Wed 22-Jan-20 10:33:10

She didn't seem like that when she visited my place of work. Perfectly pleasant. ( although she didn't thank me for holding the door open! But then she'd be thanking people continually for such things.)
She keeps a low profile and just gets on with it.

DanniRae Wed 22-Jan-20 09:15:15

I am sorry but I really don't care what Princess Anne is thinking about anything.
I have never liked her - I think she comes across as a really cold and emotionless person.
Actually I tell a lie because I'd love to know what she thinks about her son advertising milk in China - especially all the less than truthful facts in the advert?? shock

annep1 Tue 21-Jan-20 22:20:03

Not a monarchist but I quite admire Princess Anne as a person. She comes across as a no nonsense hard working pleasant lady and has brought up two very nice children.

EllanVannin Tue 21-Jan-20 19:17:45

Those who work hard are the best of people ! In every walk of life. More trusting and far more understanding in every way.

lemongrove Tue 21-Jan-20 19:05:33

I think there would be a lot of effing and blinding!?

maddyone Tue 21-Jan-20 18:32:30

I like Princess Anne, she’s straight forward and sensible. She does her job, supports her mother, raised two grounded children, and doesn’t court the press. She’s just what we need in the royal family.

HootyMcOwlface Tue 21-Jan-20 15:38:33

I’d just love to be a fly on the wall in a room with Princess Anne and her father (discussing H&M) I bet the air would be blue! ?

timetogo2016 Tue 21-Jan-20 15:34:26

I think PA would keep her opinions out of the public ears.
She cares for her Mother far too much to add fuel to the fire however she feels about ALL that is going on.
And anyway her father said many years ago that if it doesn`t fart or eat hay she`s not interested hahaha.

Luckygirl Tue 21-Jan-20 15:18:54

Ah - but we all know what she is thinking - just as we do Meghan. What very clever folk we all are!
