Two bits of good news really - Notre Dame is alive and kicking and all the bees have not died out yet.

Nortsat46 Fri 31-Jan-20 11:08:10

Thank you DoraMarr just what we need, a bit of good news.

We too were in Paris and were by Notre Dame just before the fire. I found the fire and resulting damage really quite upsetting, so am delighted to learn that the bees have survived and are thriving. ??

BladeAnnie Fri 31-Jan-20 10:53:08

Good to hear! We last saw Notre Dame just before the fire

Madmaggie Fri 31-Jan-20 10:33:44

That is very good news. My parents used to keep two or three hives in our church grounds as they lived in a terraced house with yard only. They always shared the jars of honey around freely. One elderly lady used to ask them "do you keep a bee?" It really used to tickle them, dad would say Ey lass, the wife has to milk it though! Their old friend a Priest who taught them beekeeping had a complaint from a lady that one of his bees had flown into her garden and stung her! He said, you point the blighter out to me & I'll kill it m'dear!!! grin

Ngaio1 Fri 31-Jan-20 10:31:00

This is in today’s guardian:
www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/jan/31/they-survived-fire-and-lead-poisoning-so-what-happened-next-to-notre-dames-bees-aoe
To paraphrase, the bee colony which lives on the roof of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris are alive and well. This made me happy this morning!
