Well thank the Lord for BlueBelle's link! Without that I would have been quite sure you were headed for the funny farm Rufus grin

Squiffy Sat 01-Feb-20 09:52:46

Thank you for your joint effort Rufus - and BlueBelle! Lovely video ?

Cherrytree59 Sat 01-Feb-20 09:55:27

Beautiful ?

Callistemon Sat 01-Feb-20 10:08:19

I did recognise it as Maori but had no idea what it said

So sad and poignant watching her filming in 2012 on Whakaari, White Island, and remembering what happened there last year sad

headed for the funny farm Rufus
Don't worry everyone; I'm already there! sad
As they say; "The best laid plans of mice and men..etc"My plan was to wish our NZ birthday girl with a greeting different from the trite "Happy Birthday""; that was before I crashed up against the incomprehensible (to me anyway) "preview/post message system. I converted downloads to mpeg believing that was the required file format, but then it got away , posted gibberish and left me with egg on my face! hmm
But don't worry, they've promised to unlock my cell door so I can post my Good Evening Saturday review, but what it will look like is anyone's guess.
Bluebelle; do you offer lessons in this stuff? Thanks for helping out!
Absent you haven't finished your question! confused

You are welcome Rufus she has the most beautiful voice and the video is mesmerising Thanks for pointing us in the right direction x

G'Day, After my incarceration, I've spent some time and dollars on cracking the code; successfully, I think! grin
Now pay attention!
Open up a thread where you wish to place the resultant URL,
Open Google, type in the item you wish to share, such as "Michael Alf Trio", select any of the items on offer, copy and paste its address from the address bar into the previously opened GN message box. Voila! "Preview message" should show the link in blue; try it and don't prove me wrong again. otherwise I'll be back in the funny farm for an extended visit! sad

Well done my man, you ve got it, by George you ve got it ?

Rufus2 Sun 02-Feb-20 13:11:48

Bluebelle Thanks for heaping all that praise on, but your kindly light helped show the way.
You must have had "woman's intuition" (is that still allowed or will it be "reported"?) about a tipple too far; but now you're supposed to admire my choice of jazzy pianist Michael Alf!.
I play it regularly; it's always a cheerful start to the day! grin

Perhaps it is Luckygirls or Scribbles sad news or thinking of EllaKeat and oldgaijin but this lovely song came to mind.
I do wonder if there is a particular Maori talent for beautiful and moving music which speaks straight to the heart.

Rufus I didn't have time on Saturday to watch/listen to the whole of Maisey Rika's video. I came back to it just now and I was swept away with this breathtakingly beautiful song, and the video was such a joy to watch. You somehow don't have to understand the language to get a sense of the message - the song and the singer are so perfectly in tune with nature. Thank you for sharing x

I think I've "got it" again! After much research! grin
This URL is much betterer than the previous.
Hope so!

Forgot to ask, and before my memory fails me again, what's the significance, if any, of Maisey's fluttering right hand! ?

Callistemon Tue 04-Feb-20 10:52:37

Is it to represent shimmering heat or shimmering, rippling waters?

It's one of the movements in one of the Hakas I think.

Squiffy Tue 04-Feb-20 11:10:31

I wondered about that, too, Rufus and thought the same as Calli - or, possibly, a bird fluttering its wings?

moggie57 Tue 04-Feb-20 11:14:01

and good morning to you too rufus .

Rufus2 Tue 04-Feb-20 13:20:53

I wondered about that, too, Rufus and thought the same as Calli
Sqiffy/Callli This started off (a bit wobbly) as a surprise greeting for "Birthday Girl" in her "native" tongue, so to speak. Now it sees to me at least, that we have another " GoneGirl" shock

Callistemon Tue 04-Feb-20 13:58:51

confused

It is part of a Haka

They're not all war dances!

Callistemon Tue 04-Feb-20 18:20:27

I think birthday girl posted the reason on another thread.

Rufus2 Wed 05-Feb-20 11:59:10

They're not all war dances!
You could have fooled me! Watch the All Blacks sometime! grin
Following my visit to my vascular surgeon today I think the fluttering is A/F shock
