Update---we went to the vet's for our appointed visit to Baker and were met by one of the nurses who asked us if there were any other cats in the house. My dd who lives in another part of the house has 4 cats, so the nurse told us it would be better not to see Baker because of the danger of cross-infection, so we had to turn away and come home! HOWEVER, she told us that they had managed to tube feed him this afternoon and that he had actually LICKED THE FOOD SPOON!!!It was worth the journey just to hear that.

soop Thu 06-Feb-20 19:08:33

Sorry Synonymous The "deep sigh" should have been for you. grin

soop Thu 06-Feb-20 19:07:19

I could not log off without knowing what Baker's status is. Chicken will, I'm sure, let us know in due course.

* Deep sigh*. That is hopeful news from you know who about our Smokey

Bellanonna It is impossible to photograph the entire scene. I would need a wide angle lens to do it justice.

Logging off until we return from Campbeltown tomorrow. TOYA smile moon

I also use magnesium spray for pulled muscles, to help them heal more quickly. I shall try it for cramp - thanks for the tip. I get twisty cramps in my feet which are very disconcerting.
Glorious day today. The speedwell, bugle and white dead nettle are in flower on the lane. Walls painted, only the eggshell to do and the sitting room will be finished. Huzzah!
? for Baker. Charlie has a painty tail.

Bellanonna Thu 06-Feb-20 18:33:46

Gorgeous snowdrops soop. I’ve never seen so many together.

Doodle Thu 06-Feb-20 18:29:22

I was skimming the posts and came across Galen saying I use magnesium spray and I have frogspawn. For a few seconds I thought it was some terrible new illness as it was typed in capitals. I was getting worried until I read more slowly blush. Glad you and the frogs are all ok Galen
My DH has cramp a lot in his hands. He takes quinine sulphate tablets which help. Hope you feel better now N&G.
dragonfly your poor hand. Hope it’s not too painful.
callgirl I hope your son’s scan results are ok.
chicken I hope Baker is ok.
izabella your posts are amazing. I can picture you bopping about with your air guitar grin

Report as requested!
Smokie had an injection to stop the vomitting and the v..e..t.. couldn't find anything wrong with him so we are assuming he ate 'somebody' who didn't agree with such a thing happening! hmm
He has to go back next week for another 'once over' and his regular jags. Hopefuly he will be fine by then.

annodomini Thu 06-Feb-20 17:31:47

I have just taken a leaf from Annsixty's book. I was being naughty and having a bit of dark chocolate when I felt something crunching in my mouth, Well, I knew it wasn't nutty chocolate, so it could only be...half a molar! So - I phoned the dentist and the very obliging receptionist gave me an appointment for 8.45 tomorrow morning. Luckily it doesn't hurt, except on my bank balance, but I can't keep my tongue away from it. My soft Scottish teeth are an ongoing curse!
Thinking of you, Dragonfly and the annoyance of having to put up with that canula. Chicken, so sorry to hear that the news wasn't good today but hope Baker was able to respond to your visit.
Grey, I have been known to 'sample' a cake straight from the oven! The smell of fresh baking is irresistible
and, as Oscar Wilde (I think) said, 'I can resist everything except temptation'.
Izabella, nobody can evoke the sensations of an (almost) springlike day, better than you can. How lovely to hear a woodpecker.
I feels as if it will be another frosty night. Note to self: get up in plenty of time to de-ice the car before my dentist's appointment!

MawB Thu 06-Feb-20 17:23:47

I daren't take any supplements at the moment Maw as there is a paper out which says they interfere with chemo

I realise that Dragonfly - my suggestion was addressed to NanaandGrampy
Hope tomorrow goes well smile

soop Thu 06-Feb-20 16:44:42

Izabella Yet again you've brought sunshine into our kitchen. A happy post in every sense.

MacSporran has reported concern for a loud grating sound when the car wheel is fully manouvered. We did hit and miss a number of very nasty pot holes recently. He hopes that the suspension isn't damaged again. We shall know tomorrow. We'll drop the car off in the garage when we visit the care home. It is costing us rather a lot these days. However, it still has mileage in it, and we shall hope to keep it for some time yet.

I feel unable to leave the kitchen right now. I am anxious to hear the update from chicken's visit to the vet.

Izabella Thu 06-Feb-20 16:29:57

'Greyduster that cake looks wonderful - although I have no idea how it would say intact until another day - neither do I have any postcards, just post-it notes ?. Sorry to hear about your access problems dragonfly and soop , Another one here with problem veins. Even BTS had to use local in order to 'dig down' when I gave blood. Interestingly, when blue lighted in Hobart, Oz, they found a vein immediately and painlessly.

I come to the kitchen this afternoon refreshed, rebooted and energised. Firstly the sun has been with us all day, I had a wonderful long swim in an empty pool and I have also had an afternoon freaking out with Jo Bonamassa and assorted other hard rock at volume. (Mr Izabella is outside finding a rattle on the car.) I have my own personal air guitar and drum kit. ? Amazing how music can be so wonderful and healing. As there are so many types (J.S. Bach is taking a back seat at the moment) there is always something for every mood and occasion.

Thinking of Baker and also all kitcheners. Lets hope the sun shines again tomorrow for all of us.

From a sunny shire, midst snowdrops, birdsong and the feeling of expectancy from mother earth. Incidentally I heard a Woodpecker this morning insisting the household pause and listen.

soop Thu 06-Feb-20 16:13:12

Greyduster That's a question that I am unable to answer. How about letting me have a wee nibble. I'm an expert cake taster.

chicken Please give Baker extra gentle cuddles from us lot. x

dragonfly46 Thu 06-Feb-20 15:48:10

Hoping Baker gets better with your cuddles Chicken:

Greyduster Thu 06-Feb-20 15:46:16

Is there anything more annoying than taking a cake out of the oven knowing you have to wait for it to cool down before you can cut it? And even then, knowing that it really needs to be left until tomorrow to have it at its best? And how do I keep DH’s hands off it so that I can leave some on the side for you? (He is giving it longing looks!). Answers on a postcard please!

chicken Thu 06-Feb-20 15:34:39

Thinking of every one with woes, and thanking so many of you who have sent caring messages for Baker. We are off to the vet's shortly to give him a cuddle, but the news was bad this morning. We can only hope.

soop Thu 06-Feb-20 15:09:55

dragonfly Canulas do bruise the hand significantly. My veins are very "fine". Getting blood out or putting stuff in is a right challenge. All good wishes to you. You are constantly in my thoughts. sunshine

NanaandGrampy Thu 06-Feb-20 14:20:24

Thanks for the tipGalen a spray sounds perfect!

It’s a statue Soop but you see it only as you round the corner, surrounded by trees and ferns on a mound and for all the world , even though I know it is there, it makes me stop and smile every time!

Charleygirl5 Thu 06-Feb-20 13:14:18

Syn how can you be so mean to that poor young man? Hopefully the vet will be able to work out the cause. With luck he has not become so dehydrated that he stays in overnight for IV fluids.

I agree I do hope that Baker has turned the corner.
TOYA

dragonfly46 Thu 06-Feb-20 13:02:33

Yes thinking of your son Callgirl I hope it is good news.

I am also hoping all these poorly cats can make use of their 9 lives.

I daren't take any supplements at the moment Maw as there is a paper out which says they interfere with chemo.
Went to see my oncologist today and there has not been enough time to get a PICC line in so I had to choose between delaying chemo or letting them attempt to get a canula in my hand. I went for the latter although my right hand is looking a little sorry for itself!!
Hopefully I can get a PICC line for the last two!!

On the upside the sun is shining and the lawn looks as if it needs a trim already! The helibores, primroses and crocuses are out so spring has sprung.

TOYA to all those I have forgotten to mention.

soop Thu 06-Feb-20 12:57:30

Galen The frogs clearly lurve your patch. They are discerning creatures wink

We had a lovely walk today in bright sunshine. I took a photo of the snowdrops that gladdened our hearts.

soop Thu 06-Feb-20 12:50:03

Good afternoon to our lovely lot. Haven't you been busy.

chicken I feel that Baker is made of super stern stuff. He has been through a tough time. There is always hope that he'll turn the corner and find the appetite that will enable him to go from strength to strength. flowers

Welcome back, venall Lovely to have your company. We live on the Kintyre penisula, not too many miles from the Mull. We moved from Cornwall eighteen years ago. This is now home and we we hope to remain here for the remainder of our days/months/years.

callgirl1 I'm thinking of your dear son and hope to goodness that have positive news. You have more than your fair share of worries to contend with. If I could, I would cheerfully do your ironing.

N&G That stag! It looks real. Is it a sculpture? Fabulous photo.

Maw What an adventure for Flynn Another photo for the kitchen gallery.

Synonymous PLEASE update us after Smokie has been seen by the nice v..e..t.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 06-Feb-20 12:49:34

I found a ladybird in our bedroom this morning ?

Galen Thu 06-Feb-20 12:07:38

I use a magnesium spray.

I DONT BELIEVE IT!
ITS ONLY EARLY FEBAND I HAVE FROGSPAWN

NanaandGrampy Thu 06-Feb-20 12:02:40

Thanks Maw| , Ill get some asap. I'm desperate :-(

Synonymous Thu 06-Feb-20 11:57:03

Maw we take magnesium too, particularly as it helps the absorption of VitD. I am too shy to tell you how many supplements I take in my efforts to be and feel better! blush

Urmstongran as a technophobe I think I would just leave that Alexa thing in the box! hmm
Himself loves a good puzzle so I have had to give him a Jaques puzzle board which has extra board pieces on which to sort out the bits he is working on and the whole thing folds away very neatly so that we can still use the dining table.
