I am looking for tea and cake.
My cousin, who is just ten days younger than me, is dying and probably will not last another 24 hours. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour on the 20th January and has deteriorated very rapidly. Her husband has Alzheimer's and is not capable of understanding the situation. She is unconscious now and does not appear to be in pain thank God.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Corner ??
Callgirl and kitty, beautiful pictures.
Ann,the redundancy news will have been such a shock. Our neighbour was made redundant last week and our son in law is very worried about his job.It seems like no job is safe these days.
We have been out for a meal with the family today and they have surprised us with a couple of days away staying at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool. We go tomorrow,my 60th birthday.
TOYA and Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus ???????

Lovely pictures, such beautiful children, kitty and callgirl.
Congratulations on your anniversary Mr and Mrs Corner.
What a blow to be dealt at any time Ann, let alone on your wedding day.
I grew several rows of gladioli in my veg garden last year for cut flowers and they were very successful. When I dug them up the corns were HUGE and surrounded by dozens of little baby corns. I suppose it will be time to plant them out again if the soil ever dries out enough.
TOYA and Baker sends his love!

Nannytopsy Sun 01-Mar-20 15:39:29

Afternoon everyone! I was a bit late to the GM thread, but what a shock!
Yesterday on the train to London I gave tissues to a very upset young lady. She was on her way to hospital to try to find out why her husband had died suddenly. Another sudden and tragic change to someone’s life.
I opened our curtains to a surprise view of the bungalow at the bottom of the garden. A 5’ brick and flint wall had collapsed while we were out. Such a huge pile of stone on the bungalow garden.
I can’t see our neighbour yet but we shall have to go round.

kittylester Sun 01-Mar-20 14:42:39

I noticed carillion was missing too and haven't spotted doodle either, I dont think.

As over 60s have been told to avoid crowded places is the kitchen still a safe place to be?"grin

Congratulations corner, that man deserves a medal......and so do you. wine

Lovely photos, callgirl. I'm going to add two of Wolfie and Bertie - brotherly love!! And one of Wolfie in the Captain's chair we bought him.

soop Sun 01-Mar-20 14:05:21

anno MacSporran can always find space to in which to stockpile stuff that we may run short of.
I've just shared the last three chocs with him. Cutting one in half was a messy business. wink

annodomini Sun 01-Mar-20 13:35:28

soop, if my gladdies do well, I will send you a picture as it wouldn't be practical to post them. The picture on the pack looks as if they are pink frilly ones. Fingers crossed for no flash floods this year. Your hip replacements are obviously tough as, I think, is my one, having survived several falls last year.
Have I missed something? I don't think we've heard from Carillion recently about her DH's progress. I hope it's all going well.
Now, I must go out and do some stockpiling - OK, just joking. For one thing, I can't afford bulk buying and for another my house is too small to store a load of tins.

soop Sun 01-Mar-20 12:21:16

anno I believe that gladioli are my birthday month flowers.

Charleyg The bruising looks very angry. However, the cement held. Thank goodness for hip replacements that pass the muster.

Special congratulations to corner and her dearly beloved. Amazing! Lets all raise a glass of cheer in their honour. flowers wine sunshine

callgirl1 What a beautiful baby Grace is. And isn't Max handsome. Your great neice is a very pretty lassie. We must hang the portraits in the kitchen gallery.

ann News of the redundancy will have completely knocked the stuffing out of all those affected. As anno said, a blight on what should have been a happy day for your ex daughter-in-law and family.

Bellanonna Sun 01-Mar-20 12:20:09

OMG such sad news on the Good Morning thread. Charleygirl, thank you for mentioning it as many of would possibly not have otherwise seen it.

cornergran Sun 01-Mar-20 12:14:00

Thank you all for the good wishes. Mr C continues to survive!

The Good Morning thread made me so sad, the strength of their daughter to post is incredible.

Oh goodness ann, what a shock, unexpected redundancy is such a huge upset at any time but to hear on your wedding day is horrendous

Beautiful pictures of beautiful young people callgirl, hope the prom was 'super fun' to use the term favoured by one of ours.

Off out soon, the celebrations will begin n&g. Our day started with a very noisy and dramatic storm just after 5am which has been followed by torrential rain, hailstones and now sunshine. Wonder what will come next?

TOYA, take care everyone

Greyduster Sun 01-Mar-20 12:08:10

Quite so, Anno. It was like a physical blow to read something so sad this morning. We never quite know what’s around the corner do we?

Baby Grace is beautiful Callgirl and Max looks tickled pink!

N&G don’t chop the ark up to fuel the wood burner quite yet - I don’t think winter has finished with us; and then, when it has, you could open it as Noah’s Norfolk Roadhouse, serving ostrich steaks and kangaroo burgers......?. Okay, I’m going now........?.

soop Sun 01-Mar-20 12:05:29

chicken Us lot knew that our Baker would not only survive but become twice the feisty feline in the process. Of course he has staff. He deserves it.
And we all deserve apricot jam pasties. They sound sinful. wink

annodomini Sun 01-Mar-20 11:52:29

callgirl what lovely pictures. Your Max is a big boy now, with a wee sister to look after. He looks very pleased. Your great niece looks beautiful in her prom dress. And doesn't she have gorgeous hair! I'm sure she must have had a great time.
ann, that's horrendous news for your ex-DiL to have on her wedding day. Such a blight on what should have been a happy day.
Although I don't normally read the 'good morning' thread, I was drawn to it today and was horrified to hear the shocking news about one of our grans and her husband. So sad for her brave daughter who so movingly broke the news.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-Mar-20 11:42:56

Oh Annsixty how dreadful, not a good start to married life.

Charleygirl5 Sun 01-Mar-20 11:40:06

corner 51 years of marriage is no mean feat- congratulations and enjoy your lunch and you are entitled to feet up and a rest afterwards.

The good morning thread was especially sad there today. One never knows what is around the corner.

ann that is horrendous news and the time they discovered did not exactly help. What a start to a new marriage.

callgirl those photos of the three are delightful and young Max looks as though he is quite happy to have a new baby sister. She is so peaceful.

We have sunshine and blue sky here- I cannot believe it. A pity this lovely weather did not move to the areas worst affected by flooding to allow some drying out.
TOYA

annsixty Sun 01-Mar-20 11:25:01

callgirl you and your family are truly blessed by those beautiful children.
Such a sad day today not helped by news that my exDiL heard yesterday that at 5pm on her wedding day (Friday) she and and all her colleagues were made redundant.
Totally out of the blue for everyone. Firm gone into administration, hundreds of jobs.
Such awful news for them all.

NanaandGrampy Sun 01-Mar-20 11:14:25

Morning all !

The ark is basking in the sun !! Typical, Id just loaded in the giraffes too ;-)

Very Happy Anniversary to the Corners !! Lets celebrate !

Callgirl what beautiful hair baby Grace has , shes beautiful x

GN is a strange place these days GG , its really changed from a couple of years ago , apart from the kitchen and innocuous posts I try and stay out of it I cant bear all the meanness to be honest.

I just popped in so will be back for a proper catch up later x

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-Mar-20 11:01:58

Happy Anniversary to The Corners ??

Greyduster Sun 01-Mar-20 10:58:34

Happy Anniversary, *Corner and Mr Corner*?! Have a lovely lunch and then put your feet up!

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-Mar-20 10:48:44

GN is a sad place today, after reading the Goodmorning Thread I feel so upset, I shall stay in the kitchen with my morning latte for a while.

callgirl1 Sun 01-Mar-20 00:44:04

Change that to great niece, the pic taken by her gran just before going to her school prom.

callgirl1 Sun 01-Mar-20 00:42:18

Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs Corner, and many more of``em!
Anno, Grace has a big brother called Max.
Morethan, I feel for you in your sadness.
Here are pics of Grace, and with big brother Max, also another Grace, my beautiful niece.

cornergran Sat 29-Feb-20 23:20:14

Evening All. Not sure where today has gone, it just has. Did a bit of tidying and went out in search of cake, got the essentials right anyway.

Really pleased you enjoyed yourself ann, sleep well.

You deserve chocolates soop, those that have been hidden must be found smile.

Can I bag two seats on the ark please n&g? Mr C is allergic to cats so the dog side will suit us well. I’ll volunteer Mr C to clean up after the elephant grin. Seriously tired of incessant rain but profoundly grateful our river is staying within its banks and so sorry for those people who have been flooded.

Wedding anniversary tomorrow. 51 years. Please send sympathy to Mr C by the bucketload. The man is a saint. We’re off out for some lunch, otherwise plan to do - well, nothing. It snowed the day we got married, indeed it had snowed the whole week before, back then it worried me not a jot, now I’d be fretting about travel. I wonder when the worry bug arrived.

TOYA and be careful out there, especially soop. smile.

Charleygirl5 Sat 29-Feb-20 17:57:05

Baker is entitled to staff after what he has been through. He is thoroughly enjoying running in and out- he probably cannot believe he is allowed to do it and is doing it so frequently in case the staff decide to change their mind.

ann so pleased to hear you enjoyed yourself and yes, the hip will be replaced very soon!

soop worry guts me is hoping you have not loosened the cement on both hips. Enjoy the chocolates.
TOYA

annodomini Sat 29-Feb-20 17:54:30

After at least 36 hours of incessant rain, the sun came out for lunch, accompanied by a bitter wind. I snuggled up with a book but eventually had to go out as I was out of essential supplies - like bananas. I bought some gladioli and Dutch iris bulbs in Aldi, in the hope of summer colour. Last year's flash flood washed away all the perennials I'd planted.
Keep warm, everyone; and most of all, keep dry, if you can. Fingers crossed that all the flooding will recede soon and not come back.
