Welcome Taichinan

Kalu Wed 05-Feb-20 12:40:29

Hello Taichinan. A warm welcome to our GM thread. I know Angus well on my journeys to and from St Andrews.

The thread did start off as a good morning greeting but has now morphed into some of us popping in later in the day which is ok but may not be read as routinely as the morning threads.

Enjoy your pottering day. I am particularly fond of a faffing day, simply doing what I am in the mood for?

Bellasnana Wed 05-Feb-20 11:51:48

Good morning all, although it is no longer morning here in Malta since we are an hour ahead.

I’ve just come back from coffee and a catch up with one of my lovely friends who splits her time between here and the UK, so we had lots to chat about.

The weather is vile! Blowing a gale, trying to rain and just generally better to be indoors.

Welcome to Taichinan and other new names on here. Loving thoughts to gilly and anyone else who has too much on their plate at the moment. Let’s hope better days are coming. sunshine

Good morning everyone! I'm new on here and wonder if there is a 'latest' time for posting? It's still morning here in Angus and a beautiful day for March - even though it's only February! An easy day for me today as I have a class to teach this evening, so just a gentle potter around. I love these sort of days, don't you?

Kalu Wed 05-Feb-20 11:08:58

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow.

Had a look at the forecast and we are in for stormy weather with very high winds, Sunday-Wednesday. Our plan was to go up to Perthshire for a long weekend and meet up with friends for lunch, now swithering if we should cancel.

Phone call today, yet again,to appointments dept. to double check if my annual CT scan is booked for next month. No word last year then a letter arrived telling me the cost of missing an appointment!

Meeting DD1 and GDs later. I will collect GD2. She doesn’t know Granny is collecting her and I always get a huge smile when she sees me?

Talking of jigsaws Scentia, a favourite pastime of mine too and I also have an App. Jigsaw Box, handy to do on iPad allowing you to choose how many pieces you want to do.

Best wishes and strength to all with sadness in our thoughts?

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Have been to the doctor's twice this morning - once to give blood and once to take the form I had forgotten!
Fortunately she found a new vein, unused before so not too difficult.

Relaxing day today to replenish the pint they took from my arm!

Welcome to all the newbies and pleased Marydoll is feeling a wee bit better.
I hope they have your DH down for a cancellation Gilly he has waited far too long.

Applegran Wed 05-Feb-20 10:39:58

Its so nice to have the welcoming messages - I am one of the new posters - thank you! Today it is sunny in Cornwall and the wind is not so strong, so I think I will go for a walk outside today, in spite of my bug. Yesterday I walked around the house for 45 minutes! Not nearly as rewarding as being out of doors, and able to see the daffodils and everything green. Spring is on the way and I hope it cheers everyone who needs cheering! Good wishes to people facing difficult times.

Funnygran Wed 05-Feb-20 10:35:33

Good morning from lovely sunny Fuerteventura where we are having a week’s break with BIL and his wife. I’m reading loads - bliss! Also enjoying gentle strolls along the beach. Marydoll a couple of weeks ago I had an email from a ‘US government agency’ telling me they could see I had been looking at internet porn sites and if I paid them a few thousand dollars no action would be taken! As you can imagine I’ve heard nothing more.

Good Morning All x
A lovely morning here on the Costa Mersey, no winds just so calm and quiet.

Had a surprise phone-call at 8pm last night from D in Oz, it's always nice to hear from her so we had a good catch-up as she kept me up to speed after her hip replacement on NY's day. No more crutches or walking stick but she can't be signed off for work as yet. She's a qualified child-minder so has to be quite physical as well as the driving involved.

D was also delighted to have seen an iguana close by on her walk at Manly dam. It was just strolling along ( frightening everyone around ) I thought it a bit unusual and said it might have been someone's pet if it hadn't appeared scared.

I'm debating with myself whether to go to Asda while the weather's good just to make sure I don't run out of anything before the forecast changes at the weekend.

So much sadness here over the last few days so I hope spirits are lifted slightly if you've got a drop of this sunshine. My thoughts are with you people x.

Marydoll I hope you get fixed up with the right meds---it does help ! Poor Gillybob, life's so unfair at times that you have to endure further waiting for DH and his op. to happen. Hope Dragonfly is doing alright too and those going through troubles and ills.xx

Good morning from N Bucks where it was misty but is now becoming brighter and sunnier by the minute.
Had the carpets cleaned yesterday and the house was freezing with all the doors and windows open to dry them out so it is nice to be warm again.
I am meeting a friend this morning at the Higgins Gallery in Bedford for a mosey round, then lunch.
Wishing you all a pleasant day!

Nortsat46 Wed 05-Feb-20 09:36:41

Good morning Mick and the GM team.

It was comforting to read all the condolences and heartfelt wishes to Emily yesterday for her dear mum, Oldgaijin. What a lovely bunch you all are. ?

We were at the hospital at 7.00am this morning for me to have fasting blood tests. Glad to be back home and on my second cup of coffee.
Back to the hospital this afternoon for my 3 month review with a doctor I don’t like!!
Still experimenting with different combinations of meds, so hoping for a better day today.

Welcome to new posters ? sending good thoughts to all, especially those facing challenges. ?

Nannytopsy Wed 05-Feb-20 09:31:43

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
I have just woken up! I don’t know where the cat is - he usually wakes us several times in the night and again quite early. I had meant to get going early today to break the back of this decorating.
It is a beautiful morning here in Suffolk and that strong wind has died away completely. I think morning coffee might be taken in the garden ?.
I hope today is kind to everyone.

Pittcity Wed 05-Feb-20 09:25:14

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Wednesday coffee meetup in town as usual this morning.

Urmstongran Wed 05-Feb-20 09:20:31

Lovely ice pattern Alygran thank you for posting such a beautiful photo. Isn’t nature just wonderful. Nice when we stop for a moment to admire her handiwork!

NumNum I love your name it makes me giggle!

gillybob you must be so dejected right now. Your poor husband. I can only surmise there is a damn good reason the surgeon has decided to delay his operation. x

gillybob Wed 05-Feb-20 09:01:15

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a dry start to Wednesday.

Spoke to consultants secretary yesterday in the faint hope of getting DH’s operations brought forward. Not a cat in hells chance, but it was worth a try.

Off to “that place” just as soon as I can get DH sorted (I will meet myself coming back one of these days). Was hoping to have won a £million on last nights lottery and I wouldn’t have to go .

Have a good Wednesday everyone .

Love Gillybob x

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

GrannySomerset Wed 05-Feb-20 08:53:12

Good morning from a bright and dry North Somerset where the small birds are twittering on the feeders and the snowdrops, planted by a previous owner, are a joy. I have never succeeded with snowdrops so was delighted five years ago to see them appear.

DH wants to go to Bath this morning so had better start on helping him to get up, washed, shaved, dressed etc. It all takes quite a long time but he really cannot manage on his own. PD is a harsh taskmaster.

Hope this week is a bit less sad and that our ill or worried posters have a good day.

Marydoll Wed 05-Feb-20 08:50:13

Morning Mick and all, a bit late today. Dry, but cold here in Glasgow.

Feeling a wee bit better today, but I have to go out to return something to JL. DH has kindly offered to come with me, (he hates shopping) to keep his eye on me and then and take me to lunch.
Hopefully a phone call from GP about my new meds. ?

I have just had a scam phone call telling me my internet is being cut off, due to illegal activity. I have been found out!!!! blush wink.

Have a good day everyone and hugs to all who need them.

harrigran Wed 05-Feb-20 08:46:54

Good morning from a cold but sunny NE.
Hairdresser coming at 10am but nothing else planned.
Made soup yesterday afternoon which will be nice with newly baked bread today.
Thinking of all those with problems.

Auntieflo Wed 05-Feb-20 08:44:19

Good morning Michael, Annie to come, and all others.

I just love the gentle, supporting vibes we get on this thread, that are given from the heart to all those who have had such sadness recently.

I am still in bed, enjoying my first cup of tea, and then later I have a GN Meet Up to look forward to. Nice people, nice cafe and good coffee. What could be better?

The weather looks lovely, bright and sunny, but there is frost on the cars and roofs. (rooves?)

Scentia like you, I fancy doing a jigsaw, as I haven't done one for ages. I was volunteering yesterday, but completely forgot to look for one. Might remedy that later, after coffee.

Have a good day one and all.

Greyduster Wed 05-Feb-20 08:36:21

Good morning Michael and all GNs. It’s very cold in South Yorkshire but the sun is out. For once in as long as I can remember I slept through the night and woke up feeling rested. Must have been the large gin and tonic I reached for after spending an hour on the phone with one of DH’s niece’s, who is not in a good emotional place at the moment, poor lass. Nothing much planned for today except sorting out the freezers.
Lovely photos, Alygran! Have the best day you can folks.

NumNum Wed 05-Feb-20 08:33:02

Bonjour to all from a dull, but rapidly brightening, France.

Garden tidying is planned for today and cleaning the greenhouse ready for seeds next week - hopefully!

Wishing everyone a good day and special thoughts to those who are suffering. (flowers)

Sorry, I can't find the square brackets on my AZERTY keyboard - grrrrr!!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Feb-20 08:32:49

Good morning Mick and all x

Bright and sunny here in SE Essex.

DH is just taking GS to school, I am off to the gym.

Hopefully a more peaceful day on GN

Ginny42 Wed 05-Feb-20 08:22:58

Good morning Mick and everyone. I'm late this morning as I was up for about 3 hours in the night and fell asleep around 5! It was glorious moonlight all night and blue sky this morning in Cheshire but people are having to de-ice windscreens.

What with people on this thread playing badminton and tennis, I feel exhausted thinking about it! Going for a walk in the woods, then meeting my sister coming over to a very nice village near me for lunch and a mooch in the shops.

Welcome to all the newbies and kind thoughts and get well wishes to all those feeling poorly or sad, especially the Gillybobs Marydoll and dragonfly flowers

Susan56 Wed 05-Feb-20 08:19:48

Good morning from the Shropshire borders.Looks like it’s going to be a dry day.
We have the surveyor coming round today to measure up for new windows and we will be carrying on with sorting upstairs ready for decorating.
Thinking of all with illness, worry and sadness.
Hope you are feeling better today Mary and dragonfly and that you have had a better night gilly.
