Good morning from a very stormy Northampton. A day like this and I'm so relieved we had the massive old ash tree a few feet from our French windows removed a few years ago. Just hope the fence survives.
Will be another day at home today; I did though manage a couple of hours tidying up in the garden yesterday, though I fear I may have killed off the forsythia. Just have to wait and see. A late brunch, read the papers, do the puzzle pages, watch rugby, watch another recorded film.
Stay in if you can, folks, and wishes to all for a good day.

Good Morning Sunday
(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, wet and windy here in Brackley maybe gusty as well by the sound of it.
Today, laundry to be done ,and few other things to sort as well as a small shop this morning.
So I can relax later looking forward assuming I can keep awake watching the Pale Horse .
Mick
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s pouring down and very windy here. Have decided to stay home this morning. Will get the ironing done then go back to my book and knitting. I might watch the last 2 episodes of the Christine Keeler drama later.
Sending good wishes to all who are not well.
Stay safe and dry everyone
Good Morning All x
Whether it's been bad during the night I don't know but I woke up to sirens going at 07.00. It was windy and the rain was lashing down but now it seems to have dropped. It's just a bit blowy and nothing to get excited about---thank goodness.
I hope everyone's escaped the worst of the gales and properties are damage-free. Careful as you go if venturing out.
I've been up and down like a fiddlers elbow letting the cats out and in at different intervals, must be a dozen times in all.
Fed the old stray cat who's been tucked up in his kennel all night----best thing I ever bought for the old Tom.
Looks like I'll get away with my full chicken dinner without the power-cut warning. I had visions of chicken sandwiches.
Mick reminded me to watch " The Pale Horse " tonight-9pm BBC1, so hope it's a good one.
Make the most of today Dragonfly and Marydoll try and not do too much. I won't be doing anything but cooking and TV watching. Bedding nice and dry after blowing on the line yesterday but ironing can wait.
Hope all is well with everyone and the Gillybob's had a half-decent night xx Enjoy a peaceful Sunday.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
P.S. I think I spoke too soon about the wind dropping----it's whipped up with gusto now and is rolling in with sudden blasts that sound like thunder, then it drops --most strange.
Good Morning Mick and all . Very grey and blustery here on S Welsh coast, no rain yet but it is forecast. Not going out, I have a Book Club book to get my teeth into.
We are very exposed here by the sea, so hope we don't lose any tiles. The gardener who knocked down our little wall at the end of the drive, kept his word and arranged for a builder to come yesterday and rebuild it.
Glad you have no leaks Kitty, our lounge wall is dry too and a decorator is coming in the morning to stick the wallpaper back.
Glad your cat is better Irene.
Love to dragonfly and gilly.
Very windy in North Somerset, with fierce squally rain, so DH has agreed not to venture out, though I will go to church. Next door’s watering cans are blowing round their garden but I filled ours and they have stayed put. Am watching the back fence which is due to be replaced next week and wondering whether it can survive the onslaught.
Hoping our various invalids and those with worries have a good day. After church I shall read my book group tome and DH will watch the rugby.
Good morning all
Well it seems that the forecasters got it fight for once as we all have the promised gales and rain.
I am not going to be popular with my neighbours as my very large pampas grass has lost a lot of dry leaves and my garden has taken most of the debris but neighbouring gardens have their share.
I seldom go out so a day of doing the same for me.
Take care everyone.
Good morning from a very stormy South Yorkshire.
The wind battering things about outside gave me a disturbed night.
Hope it soon settles back to normal.
Keep safe everyone.
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Very wet and windy out there today, I am not going over DD for my usual walk along the trails with DGS as dog won’t go out and I don’t want to blow over with the buggy!
I may venture up to the shops to see if I can get a jigsaw and also we need a stair gate for when DGS visits.
I hope everyone stays warm, dry and safe today and those with troubles find some relief.❤️
Wet and blustery in Oxfordshire, but it seems calmer than during the night, woken up this morning by a siren, when I got up I heard the the power station chimney was demolished as planned, we are several miles away so I guess the wind carried the sound, at least the power didn’t go off like it did when the cooling towers came down.
GD and her school trip left London early and was back in Cornwall by 11 pm last night, so one thing less to worry about.
Not sure about taking DDs dog out today, she is so light we might both get blown away!
Stay safe everyone and have a good day.
Good morning from a very winy and rainy Black Country. What a difference a day makes, as it was bright blue skies here yesterday.
No real plans today, so a staying in day. Partners cycle ride was cancelled yesterday because of the weather forecast.
What a relief kitty ,we had a leak in our dining room about 4 years ago, and had to wait before we called a plasterer in just to make sure the repair had worked!
A warm welcome to all the new members.
Have a good day everyone. Special thoughts to gilly and dragonfly
Good morning Mick and all you other early birds. I do love hearing all your doings - or not-doings on a day like this! Not too bad here in Angus but I'm sure we won't miss all the 'fun'. Just a stay-cosy, pottering sort of day for me. Hope everyone feeling the brunt of the storm keeps safe. Have a lovely day everyone x
Bonjour everyone from France.
We seem to have escaped the worst of the storm - it's dry here although pretty windy at the moment.
Good news about your roof Kitty and relieved to hear your little cat is more comfortable Irene.
Sending kind thoughts to everyone who needs them and hoping you all stay safe - enjoy your day whatever you're doing!
Popped back to say I didn't go walking in the woods! I could see from my kitchen that there is a silver birch over and leaning on its neighbours. The birds are struggling to get food as it's blowing the feeders so much they can't perch. I have plenty of paperwork to keep me busy all day. Stay safe everyone!
Good morning from a wet and windy NE. The torrential rain started last night and continued throughout the night, I wore earplugs so I did get some sleep.
Was going to visit DS and family but he suggested we stayed put in our respective homes and avoid the 45 minute drive which could be dangerous.
My sister rang last night for a chat and says that BIL is showing an improvement in his lung cancer symptoms, he is taking a drug which targets the cancer cells rather than blitz the entire body like chemo. The drug treatment costs 6,000 euros a month and has to be paid for before the drug is dispensed. The health insurance reimburses in due course but you need the wherewithal at the beginning.
Needless to say this is not the UK.
Good morning from a very stormy Perthshire which doesn’t bode well for our drive home to Glasgow later. Heavy snow forecast for tomorrow so not a good idea to chance being snowed in as DH has an early appointment tomorrow morning.
Out earlier this morning to walk to a near neighbour to pass on a couple of books I promised to her. Love going to hers as her Lab. gives me such a welcome, reminding me of my own lot. Lots of doggy cuddles and blethering was a lovely start to my day.
Hope the next few days are not too hard going for you Dragonfly What a brave lady you are.
Best wishes to all and stay safe during this horrible stormy weather.
Goodmorning Mick and all x
It has been so windy overnight here in SE Essex, have had little sleep, and the storm is meant to leak here 12 - 4pm exactly when we are going to Sunday lunch with family!!!
Keep warm and safe folks.
Ellenvannin how thoughtful that you have bought a kennel for the stray - take it that it's no longer a stray, but now a lodger! And to all those with dogs that won't go out because it's raining - you lucky things! Our labrador is champing at the bit, waiting for her walk!
Morning all didn’t sleep very well as the wind was terrible. Husband slept through it all as usual I thought the roof was coming in! Never mind raining and blustery day in cooking a roast and catching up on tv. Hope everyone’s ok.
Good morning Mick and all his followers!
As someone has already said, what a difference a day makes. Yesterday was such a lovely day which I spent indoors at a Verdi Requiem come and sing. Great fun as think of all those endorphins! I shall need them today, to finish painting skirting boards.
Thinking of you Dragonfly and I hope we all keep our roof tiles and trees!
Good morning from a wet and blustery Fife. The sun has just broken through the clouds so it is looking a bit brighter. Will not be going out today so will get my paints out and do some painting. Am still trying to get used to my cat not being here anymore as looking after her and being with her was part of my daily routine at home. Still have the garden birds to feed so will do that now. Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all, I’m sorry to hear you are having some stormy weather and I noticed several flights to the UK have been cancelled this morning due to the weather over there.
Here in Malta it is sunny, a bit chilly, but nice enough to go out with DD3 who is picking me up soon to go out for lunch.
I had an awful night and woke with the worst headache, but it seems to be wearing off a bit after a couple of Panadol.
Sorry I haven’t had time to read all posts but I wish everyone a safe and pleasant day.
Morning all from a very windy South Notts. This is the worst I've ever seen. My shed has been blown over sideways and it has knocked over two dustbins, cracked a few flowerpots and the patio chairs and tables are strewn across the lawn. The whirligig washing line is also a casualty - snapped apart so that's totally kaput! I was going to put some rubbish out but it's pointless now.
Still, I'll look on the bright side - I was planning to revamp the garden next year so it could be brought forward. I'll need a couple of strong men to lift the shed - I wander if it'll fall to bits? When I think of what's inside it - the Black and Decker Workmate, various buckets, spades and rakes, etc and the lawn mower oh dear!
Still, compared to other things it's trivial really.
I hope all is well with you all, especially those of you who are poorly or in distress.
