Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, wet and windy here in Brackley this morning.
Yesterday, I did go out but I will say numbers out seem to be down, or not hanging around.
Only hope those living in the reported areas of Lancs and Yorks and other places survive this storm.
Mick

Good morning from a very damp Birmingham. The wind has dropped but the sky is grey and there are high clouds racing across. I’m having a break from housework ( on a Sunday??) after a very busy week. The park doesn’t look very enticing but I need a walk- perhaps I will have a coffee and a croissant afterwards.
gilly enjoy having your grandchildren. I’m keeping fingers crossed all will be well and your husband finally has his op.

Urmstongran Sun 16-Feb-20 09:18:40

Morning Anniebach why would you want the bridge to be washed away? I don’t understand. Wouldn’t that mean folk would be cut off?

Urmstongran Sun 16-Feb-20 09:16:58

Not sure it is the actual ‘op’ for gillybob’s husband dragonfly. I seem to recall it’s an out patient appointment for assessment of proposed op - but I could be wrong! If gillybob sees this she can confirm. I do hope you’re right and I’m wrong as that would be so much better!

Anniebach Sun 16-Feb-20 09:16:33

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Parts of our town flooded, mountain roads cut off,

The bridge is flooded, I hope it’s washed away

Legs55 Sun 16-Feb-20 09:14:26

Good morning all from very wet & windy Devon. A lot of flooding in my area close to Dartmoor, my Town was featured on BBC news this morning.

I'm waiting to have my roof replaced & have had a leak in my bedroom since November, last night the ceiling in my Lounge sprunk a leaksad, more towels & bowls spread around. At least I'm better off than people who have been flooded out or evacuated.

Stay safe every-one & let's hope for some sunshine.

Fingers crossed Gillybob for your husband, I hope all goes well. X

Good morning from a grey wet Essex. Think it will be a home day today although my nephew and family are visiting DS and family so may pop in there if the weather allows! Lovely afternoon at the country pub yesterday with friends. We only stayed 5 hours but used the Storm as the excuse!! Looking forward to half term next week as even though I'm retired (but still volunteer) I still use the school holidays to catch up with friends and enjoy special days out with my DGSs, Hope everyone enjoys a cosy home today! Xxx

gillybob Sun 16-Feb-20 09:04:26

Yes dragonfly his long awaited (over a year) operation is scheduled for 24th and I am terrified something is going to go wrong or that it might be cancelled again. He has absolutely no quality of life at the minute spending almost all of his time in bed on strong painkillers . He’s booked in for a scan on Friday 21st so fingers crossed all on track. Thank you for remembering . x

Good morning everyone from a very wet Essex by the sea. A very miserable scene outside. I can barely see the sea.
We may venture out later when DH wakes up, very late for him this morning.
A roast this afternoon and will probably start a new puzzle later.
Keep warm and safe everyone.

Susan56 Sun 16-Feb-20 09:02:09

Good morning from the Shropshire borders.
Lots of flooded roads around here.DD1 is trapped in the house, the lane is flooded both sides of them.Luckily their house is on a slight hill so isn’t affected and son in law can get to work in the tractor.
More bedroom sorting here ready for decorating and new windows.
It will be nice for your daughter to have some time for herself Urmston when the children are at school.
Thinking of all in the sick bay.

gillybob Sun 16-Feb-20 09:01:54

Fingers crossed for your car park ticket appeal Auntieflo something similar once happened to me . The ticket was there but the force of the door shutting had blown it upside down. Grrrrr

So glad to read that you were not flooded out again kittylester smile

Just learned that my DS was at my DD’s (his Sister) until after midnight trying to fix her boiler that went off suddenly . Apparently she rang him in a panic as about 8pm and he went straight over (another town) . He has got it going (temporarily) but he is not a heating engineer so thinks it might go again in the near future . Normally she would have rang DH but so glad she had the sense to call her brother . I bet he was thrilled having to spend his Saturday night stripping a boiler down though .

Good morning from a wet and windy Colchester. Just a 2 minute walk to Lidl today....will still need Mac and wellies!
I've been preparing for 2 DGSs to stay for a couple of days. Half term started here on Friday.

dragonfly46 Sun 16-Feb-20 08:57:15

Sorry gilly by his I mean your DH of course!

Greyduster Sun 16-Feb-20 08:55:21

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Slept badly. Its dry at the moment in South Yorkshire. I think storm Dennis treated us more lightly yesterday than it’s predecessor to be honest. We have a quiet day in prospect, though I must stretch my legs at some stage. Family are coming over later. Have a good day folks.

dragonfly46 Sun 16-Feb-20 08:54:08

Good morning from dry breezy Leicestershire.
Just woken up so that can only be good..

So pleased your hall is dry kitty. Will all that rain it should withstand any thing.

Coffee with friends this morning and seeing more friends this afternoon.

I hope you get through next week okay gilly I seem to remember his op is on 24th!

NannyJan53 Sun 16-Feb-20 08:53:02

Good Morning from a rainy Black Country. I think we have escaped the worst of storm Dennis here, although, if it was windy last night I wouldn't have heard it as once I take my hearing aids out I don't hear a thing!

Another day with no plans, I may go to the gym today. Then prepare dinner for this evening. Time to catch up on reading as I have a busy week coming up, seem to be out every day!

Good news Kitty, now you can get on with re-plastering and decorating.

gilly you are a marvel, just reading about what you do makes me want to sit down and rest smile

Wishing you all a good Sunday.

Good Morning Mick and all. It began raining here yesterday lunchtime and it hasn't stopped since. Local radio has reported that many areas have been flooded here in S Wales and I know that many other parts such as Yorkshire have been too. I feel so sorry for them.

We braved the elements and went out for lunch yesterday and had a lovely time. Not going out today!
Glad your hall carpet is dry Kitty, our lounge ceiling is too, phew.
Hope everyone will have a good day.

BlueSapphire Sun 16-Feb-20 08:46:14

Good morning everyone from a wet Northampton. It doesn't seem to be as windy as yesterday.
Should be going to the rugby this afternoon but heavy rain is forecast so I may stay at home and watch it on TV instead. Won't be much fun sitting cold and wet for two plus hours. Will have to let DD know as she and her DH sit next to me.
Other than that will read the papers, watch some TV and read more of the new book I started yesterday.
Hope the day treats us well.

Mythbirtthedragon Sun 16-Feb-20 08:41:44

Good morning from east London, still quite windy and wet. DS got home quite easily last night, the trains coming from the south into London didn’t let him down. He arrived with an enormous bag for someone who’s only staying 3 days but it’s several weeks worth of washing (which he will do himself). Still intend to travel north today, so hopefully the A1 will be ok. Didn’t buy our bargain sofa yesterday (leather, less than a third of the original price);turned out we have to take it as it was built and sort out our own delivery within 72 hours. So we went back home, rechecked the doors and realised we wouldn’t get it in. So instead we managed to extricate the sofa that had been left by the workmen in our front room back to where it came. Only a few minor touch ups required to the paintwork. I’m going to try (again) to renew our railcards while all is quiet. I won’t rant but I find it amazing the website acknowledges there’s a problem and tells you to go to a staffed station to get them instead (and they’ll reply to your query within 20 working days). Have a good day.

Good Morning everyone from a calm Oxfordshire.
I love a duvet day Scentia and had thought that would be yesterday but didn't quite happen.
Went to Sainsburys with DD1 and grandchildren in the morning, decided it was too much hassle to do our food shop so went back at lunchtime and did weekly shop. Just got in and made a cup of tea when DD2 ( who is starting a diet) asked if I could go to Sainsbury with her and help sort out various store cupboard ingredients etc for a load of new recipes. Eventually home at 5pm. I hate supermarket shopping and 3 in one day was ridiculous (not that I mind helping them out)!!
Wishing everyone a good day and special thoughts to all on sick list or struggling today

gillybob Sun 16-Feb-20 08:34:56

Good morning from the NE coast where we have had a night if heavy rain and high winds. It’s calm now and quite cold compared with yesterday.

Nothing much to report today other than I did a bit of food shopping yesterday morning and a bit housework in the afternoon. DH spent most of his day in bed.

A busy week ahead next week with it being half term . I have the older 3 DGD for 2 days and one overnight and little Evie for one .....I wish I could have had them altogether but family shift patterns are different . I have the dreaded mammogram on Tuesday (in the middle of the day) and DH has a scan on Friday at 8.30 am. It should be fun trying to get him up and out for just after 7 am (I think perhaps it might be easier to just stay up all night).

Hope everyone has survived the storm and those feeling poorly start to feel a bit better soon.

Love Gillybob xx

Auntieflo Sun 16-Feb-20 08:32:40

Good morning Michael, Annie, to come, and all others.
We evidently had a very windy, wet night and early morning, but I didn't hear any of it.
Off to Church a bit later, and giving some more people a lift. We love our new car, but it is a bit of a squeeze in the back now, particularly if you have long legs.
Yesterday, we got back to the car park, to find a parking ticket on the windscreen ?. The wind must have blown the ticket off the dash board and onto the floor, as we closed the doors.
Anyway, I have emailed a copy of the ticket to the council, and hope our appeal will be successful. ?
Not much doing today, but will shorten a new pair of DH trousers, and try and find a knitting pattern amongst my stash.

Hoping the Gillybobs and all who are poorly, are as safe and warm as can be.
Have a good day one and all.

kittylester Sun 16-Feb-20 08:31:06

Morning all from a calm North Leicestershire- maybe the calm before the storm. I am happy to report that my hall carpet remains dry!!

Picking up DGDs 2 and 3 today for a few days, so back to a full house.

Sending love and best wishes to all who need them.

Scentia Sun 16-Feb-20 08:16:48

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Wet and very windy in the night but seems to have calmed down this morning. I can see a neighbours greenhouse has been destroyed.

My doggie feels a little poorly so will only do a short walk today as I am not going on my usual walk on the trails with my DGS as he has a cold and poorly ears?
I may just stay in once I have been to the cemetery for a visit to my niece’s grave. It would have been her 38th birthday this week.❤️
Best wishes to all on the sick list and to anyone not feeling ‘it’ today. I do think a duvet day for everyone is in order.

Mommawolf Sun 16-Feb-20 08:15:23

Don't you just love our County NFK DUMPLING it's gone very still here not a breath of wind, hopefully it's coming your way.
