Good morning everyone. I'm a 'newbie' - just joined Gransnet! I live abroad but hoping to return to the UK (my homeland) this week.....

Where I am it's a sunny morning but we have snow, vast quantities of snow which has been here for many weeks. Today I have to finish packing my boxes for my move. Sadly the removals company seem to have messed up; they have my money but I wonder if they will turn up....they keep altering the date and now tell me "at the weekend" but I'm inclined to doubt them (who does removals over a weekend??)

Perhaps you kind people could all send collective positive thoughts on this for me?!

I know the UK is windy, wet, and currently lots of poor folk are experiencing floods - my heart goes out to you - but I would give anything to be back home in the rain right now...

Good morning from a very blustery and dull mid-Notts. The wind is really howling around the house and down the chimney. Hope your appointment goes well Marydoll and thank you again for your kind words yesterday. Welcome to all the new posters- I'm relatively new myself and everyone seems so lovely and supportive. Wishing everyone a good Thursday x

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a bright and not too windy NE.
DIL and GDs visited yesterday afternoon, they arrived all rosy cheeked from ice skating at Beamish museum.
Today they are off to York for the day, I am sure they will enjoy it.
Thinking about having lunch out but everywhere might be busy with it being half term.
Thinking of all the poorly people and the carers too.

Auntieflo Thu 20-Feb-20 09:21:47

I think I will go back to bed now, before I change the sheets.
I meant to write Scribbles, in my first post. Apologies for changing your name. ?
And welcome to all the new folk.
(I'll see what else I've managed to screw up, in a minute.)

Good morning from a wet Isle of Man. It’s my last day here as I shall be heading home to Malta later today.

Last night we went to see The Sound of Music at the theatre which was very enjoyable. The cast did a lovely job, especially the children who were wonderful.

Sorry to hear you are snowed under with responsibilities again, gilly. I wish there was someone who could help you.

Hope everyone has the best day possible.sunshine

Shelmiss Thu 20-Feb-20 09:15:34

Thanks all for the lovely welcome, I’m looking forward to participating, it’s a really nice thread.

In other news the heavens have just opened and I have just got literally soaked while clearing up my dogs ? in the garden. I knew I should have left it till later!

Auntieflo Thu 20-Feb-20 09:15:24

Oh my goodness, everyone sneaks in while I am posting.
Lots more to catch upon ?

Auntieflo Thu 20-Feb-20 09:14:14

Good morning Michael, Annie, to come and all others. It started off bright and sunny here, but has now clouded over, and is very windy.
I had planned to change the bed this morning, but if it's raining, not a good idea.
Yesterday I hung new bedroom curtains, and took the others to 'my' charity shop. The new ones have blackout linings and they are very good, much better than the old ones. Will be lovely in the summer, whenever that may be.
Mommawolf, how mad are some folk? You will have to put up scary pictures of your fiercest beasts, next to your non -access signs. Still I suspect it won't deter the daftest trespassers.
Hoping that Luckygirl managed to get some rest last night.
Also thinking of Squiggles and The Gillybobs. Is tomorrow the day, Gilly. ?
Marydoll, do tell how your Hot X Buns turn out.
Have a good day one and all. Keep dry and safe.

Morning all from a sopping wet north Wales! I’m meeting a friend for coffee and cake in Conwy at 10am and I so don’t want to go out.....

Welcome to the newbies- you seem to be arriving thick and fast this week - I will get the names and places right the more you post so keep posting! This is the one thread I frequent every morning without fail regardless of whether I post - always interesting reading.

Hope all with poor health, problems or bereavement in their lives (which is probably all of us in one way or other at the moment) have a better day today than yesterday x

MawB Thu 20-Feb-20 09:06:56

Just read Gillybob’s post and wonder if this fits?

MawB Thu 20-Feb-20 09:01:59

Good morning all from N Bucks where it might have stopped raining fir a bit but it is still blustery.
So many interesting posts and new people to welcome! This thread is better than reading the newspaper for entertainment (I bet Smiler the goat was smiling to himself!) and a lot less depressing.
Especial thoughts to those with ills, worries or hills to climb but wishing you all a pleasant day!

gillybob Thu 20-Feb-20 09:01:36

Good morning from the NE coast where we had quite a bright and sunny start to Thursday but it’s raining now .

A warm Good Morning welcome to all our new friends who have found this lovely friendly thread . smile

I could have waved to your DS coming in on the ferry, had I known he was on it Funnygran . Sometimes the North Sea is so rough I can feel my stomach turning just watching it from dry land !

“enjoying” the grandchildren again today (if that’s what you want to call it ) the house has imploded and I have got up to a very sticky passage and kitchen floor . The girls were messing about “getting drinks” at well after midnight and it got to the stage where I was past caring . Looks like they are having a bit of a sleep in before I open the breakfast cafe . Fingers crossed they will all get up together at about lunch time grin

I have so much to do today and will have to fit some “proper work” in too as it’s wages day . I really don’t know where to start......probably with the mop .

Have a good Thursday everyone .

Love Gillybob xx

Gravygranny thanks for that tip. Forewarned is forearmed? He is a very good boy when out and doesn't really ask for anything. But as for me, may have to shut my eyes as we walk through!! xxx

Anniebach Thu 20-Feb-20 08:57:21

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Mommawolf Thu 20-Feb-20 08:55:44

I know GINSTER some people have no sense. That field is so wet. As my grandma would say"there is nothing as queer as folk" crazy.

Greyduster Thu 20-Feb-20 08:49:56

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dry in South Yorkshire at the moment but that is not expected to last. We have finished our grandparenting duties for this half term week. The cupboard is now bare so a food shop is required! Then a quiet day. Aaahh ☺️! Kind thoughts to all who are struggling with ill health or loss??.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 20-Feb-20 08:47:21

conor our GC love The Rainforest Cafe, beware you have to walk through the shop to get to the restaurant!!!

Welcome Brook, Shellmiss and Newquay

GrannySomerset Thu 20-Feb-20 08:46:10

Good morning from a cloudy North Somerset where it has just started to rain again. When DH is fit to face the day we have a supermarket shop to do which he, for some strange reason, enjoys. It does mean that it takes twice as long but we have nothing else planned till choir practice this evening so I need to muster both patience and a degree of charm.

Thinking of so many of our regular posters, and welcome to the newcomers to this amazing slice of life.

Gingster Thu 20-Feb-20 08:43:55

A dreary start to the day here in Suffolk. Blowy and drizzly..... again. When will spring arrive? Saw Little Women last night and enjoyed it. Our little cinema was packed. Have a cosy day, all who can and safe journeys for those who have to go out. I meant to ask Mommawolf - people camping in this weather in February?.... ?

Marydoll Thu 20-Feb-20 08:36:14

What a fantastic painting that would make, Funnygran. Thanks for posting it, I love seascapes.

You will be glad to see your family safely home.

dragonfly46 Thu 20-Feb-20 08:35:37

Welcome Brook and * Newquay*.

Mapleleaf Thu 20-Feb-20 08:34:38

Good morning,

It's rather grey, cool and breezy here this morning. I doubt it will stay dry for very long.

Welcome to all the newbies who gave joined us today. I'm sure you will find this a nice thread to participate in.

Oh dear, mommawolf . I don't understand why anyone would want to camp out through choice at this time of year, especially with the weather we've been having! No wonder you feel cross with them though, because if they had hurt themselves no doubt they would try to hold you responsible even though they've trespassed. (Maybe not as not everyone is like that, but some are happy to sue for the slightest thing these days, aren't they)?

Hope today is a good one for everyone and that gilly and others feeling unwell or worried have a brighter day today.

Funnygran Thu 20-Feb-20 08:33:26

Good morning from a calm South Yorkshire. Not sure if this photo will come through but just been sent it by my youngest DS. He and his family are returning from Holland to Newcastle by ferry and this is Redcar - in the far distance! He said it has been the calmest crossing he’s ever known and very different to Sunday evening when they went.

Susan56 Thu 20-Feb-20 08:29:32

Welcome to Brook,Shelmiss and Newquay??
