How old were you when had your first born

Married at 20, told I couldn't have children. First daughter born when i was 29 second when i was 32.

I was 27. It seems so young now

Oops posted early. Meant to say still married 38 years later and very happy with our little family including 3 grandchildren. And they said it wouldn’t last ?

First child at 17, married at 18 second child at 21. The early years were tough but we are still married

First baby ( prem ) 22 , second at 25 , third at 30 ! Did not even know how to hold a baby . Breast feeding happened as prem baby knew what to do thank god. No help from parents they were still young and at work. It meant I could have a career when they went to school .

1st child at 23 and 2nd child at 28.

Married at 40 had one and only child at 44 after having two miscarriages.
Felt really insulted at being termed as what I thought said elderly primate on a form I had to sign to do with another matter. I kept telling everyone that the hospital said I was an old monkey!!!
It was quite a few years later that I found out it had actually said elderly prima gravida lol

In University until 25, lived together from 26, married at 28, children at 34 & 36, first grandchild at 66, second due when I will be 68.

Would have loved another but, as the midwife said after my fairly problematic third pregnancy, the equipment was wearing out!

22, 26 and 32.

First at 19, second at 22 and third at 39. I have the curious situation of being closer in age to DD1 than DD1 is to DD2.

Married at 19, 1st at 20, lost one early at 22, 2nd at 22 and third at 23, husband got the snip 5 months later. I got pregnant far too easily! It was normal in with my group of friends so didn't think anything about it and didn't feel too young. After my first I was asked by a nurse in hospital if I had had any other children as I was copying so well, no just been babysitting for my older sisters since I was 12 so loads of practice, sent home 2 days early because of all that practice as they were so busy on the ward. On the other hand my DH hadn't even held a baby so it was a steep learning curve for him.

First at 20,second 21,miscarriage 22,third 25,miscarriage 29,fourth 30..

Married at 21, first child at almost 36, second at almost 38. I would do the same way again, it kept us young and no money worries.

Married at 22 first child at 26, second at 30 and third at 33. Second and third pregnancies and births were by far easier than the first. So involved with the grandkids now I don’t think I’ve ever stopped childcare. I love them all to bits but have little chance to claim my life back before it’s too late.

My best friend was 15, married the father and then went into teaching when her daughter reached school age. Then when daughter reached 15, her mum decided to have her second. I wouldn't have gone back into child rearing when I'd got freedom. I married at 25 and my godmother (a district nurse/midwife) kept telling me that I was an elderly primigravida! I had lots of miscarriages and finally an ectopic, but finished with 3 children by my two marriages/

I was married at 26, first baby at 27 didnt waste any time.I had been a midwife and was expected to cope,didnt get much help at the Hospital, so I coped! Second child 31.

I’m the same Seefah - I think it’s changed nowadays though, the average age of a first time mum is 30 iirc, which suggests people are leaving it till later to settle down nowadays.

30. I was the oldest woman at anti-natal, sitting with a load of girls 16-19 year olds☹️. Had my 2nd child 5 years later & was dreading going to anti-natal. How things change, I was the youngest there, it was full of career woman 40+ having their 1st child.?

I’m amazed at how young everyone was when getting married. Quite a prolific lot of grannies and a lot of happiness. I had one accident at 29 who has turned out to the most perfect daughter ever. Tried to have more with 2nd husband at 44 but lost them.

1st child 23, 2nd at 25, 3rd at 27, 4th at 29, divorced, then with new partner, children with him at 37 and 38!!! Definitely more relaxed with last two children
