I had my first child at 21 And loved every minute, even though I remember coming home from hospital after a week and thinking oh my goodness I hope I can do this, lol

Married at 19.
First child at 21.
Second child at 23.

So different nowadays, but glad I had mine young, no ties by the time I was in my early 40’s, and enjoy being a youthful granny.

Married at 23 (five months after meeting DH!), first baby at 25, second at 27 (both girls). They are now 37 and 35!!

I meant to say, third child, my daughter, was a miracle baby. I was taken to hospital by ambulance with a miscarriage for an op, but there was no bed for me.
Instead I was was taken instead to the maternity hospital, where they decided to scan me first before taking me to theatre and discovered I was still pregnant. They thought the pregnancy had probably been twins.
I spent most of that pregnancy on bed rest in hospital. Missed my wee boys so much. So no more babies for me, I would have had more, if I had been strong enough!

I was 22 (now 60)when I had my 1st son, then almost 25 with the 2nd son.

I felt completely out of my depth.

Hard work, but wouldn't have had it any other way. I was told I would never be well enough to have children.
After I had number two, I was told to not to have anymore!

Married two weeks off 22. First baby at 23, second at 26 and third at just 30. Was a sahm until youngest started school. Loved every minute of it.

Married at 21, first child at 27 (over 25 so had primagravida - older first time mum- on the front of my file in big letters,) second baby at 29.
Makes me smile now given we know many who successfully started their families over 40.

Having said that, having a baby early means you have your independence back in your 40s.

GagaJo Fri 28-Feb-20 11:59:43

I was 20. Far too young. I was nowhere near ready and neither was my husband. Didn't have anymore because he didn't do any parenting and left it all to me, also because I found it so hard, which was probably due to my age.

It's totally different with my grandson. Comes completely naturally so I wonder if it was just down to being too young with my baby?

Witzend Fri 28-Feb-20 11:54:33

Just to add, when I had my first, I was quite a bit older than all the other mothers on the ward.
One was only 19, and at one point she said to me, ‘Goodness, I hope I look like you when I’m 28!’

Made me feel ancient!

Esspee Fri 28-Feb-20 11:50:58

I was “elderly” - It stated that in black and white on my chart - at 28. ?

Witzend Fri 28-Feb-20 11:47:28

Married at 25, 1st baby at 28 - and I was down in my notes as an ‘elderly’ primigravida!

God knows what they’d have thought about my dd1, who recently had no. 3 shortly before her 43rd birthday!

Grandma70s Fri 28-Feb-20 11:46:49

Goodness me, weren’t you all young! I was still in education when many of you had your first child. I had my first at 31, second at 34. My DIL was 34 and 37.

Bellanonna Fri 28-Feb-20 11:43:57

29 and 31

Rufus2 Fri 28-Feb-20 11:38:37

Married at 26 and first baby at 28. Looking back on it I was so young - hadn’t done a lot of the things Id wanted to. It’s insane to think that my own DC are only a few years off that age, but they seem to want other things out of their twenties than marriage and babies which I’m pleased about.

paddyanne Fri 28-Feb-20 11:30:17

married at 21,miscarriage at 22 and the twin delivered at 23 ,she died.First child I brought home I was nearly 25 .
10 years later for my next surviving child

first pregnancy was failed contraception ,we had no intention of having babies for a long time ,Once you've lost one though it makes you long for another
