...but not in government matters he’s sired an offspring

We don’t have ‘first ladies’ we have the queen

Chestnut Mon 02-Mar-20 14:53:10

Er....not unless you really want to know all that. Hope you enjoy it. ?

trisher Mon 02-Mar-20 14:39:04

Wait until Boris writes his memoirs. Just think all the gory details about his sex life! Won't that be wonderful?

Chestnut Mon 02-Mar-20 14:35:46

I felt we hit an all-time low in first ladies with Cherie Blair. It really couldn't get any worse. And then along came Sally Bercow showing us how not to behave as the wife of an MP.

JenniferEccles Mon 02-Mar-20 14:11:11

Oh gosh yes Cherie Blair!

That revelation was toe-curlingly embarrassing wasn’t it?

Talk about over-sharing!!

I wonder if the Queen is aware of her disclosure?
I understand she reads most newspapers so I guess the answer is yes!

glammanana Mon 02-Mar-20 11:47:59

At least we don't have to know where & when the little one was conceived as we did with Cherie Blair and her forgotten contraceptives at Balmoral.
Good luck to CarrieS and her baby although Boris is not the kind of man I would wish as a SIL .

Chestnut Sun 01-Mar-20 23:20:42

I'm sure many grans are not in love with their SILs but as you say, it's not our choice and unless there is alcohol, drugs, abuse or criminal activity involved we should be happy for them.

maddyone Sun 01-Mar-20 23:14:43

If was choosing, I wouldn’t choose him, but our children choose their own partners don’t they?

Callistemon Sun 01-Mar-20 23:00:10

Yes, there are but I still wouldn't want him for a SIL.

maddyone Sun 01-Mar-20 22:23:08

Names are personal choice, as is whether to have a baby or not. I’m sure, no I know there are worse fathers than Boris. I worked in a difficult area during my teaching career. I knew fathers who were drug addicts, fathers who were murderers, fathers who neglected their children so the children didn’t have enough to eat, fathers who battered the mother whilst their children watched, fathers who abused their children sexually, and fathers who were totally disinterested and never saw their children.
There are plenty of fathers who are terrible parents, let’s get this into perspective.

Callistemon Sun 01-Mar-20 20:21:09

I'd wonder about Hetty too, although I did have a great aunt Hettie wink but she was Henrietta.

Callistemon Sun 01-Mar-20 20:18:42

Chestnut neither DH nor I think the the meteorologists ever get the start of the seasons correct.
Although the primroses and daffodils are in full bloom, so who knows?

Theo is a great name! DGC's little friend is Theo, a delightful child.
Lara - a Russian name as is Boris
Cassia - lovely and spicy
Not sure about Milo although I do have a grand-dog called Milo!
Although I do like Milo the drink.

GillT57 Sun 01-Mar-20 20:10:57

Yes lemon that's who I was thinking of, Mrs Slocombe! Not you of course, more the Mother of a childhood friend, bastion of the Con Club, JP, intolerant, Tory........hair like a helmet.....thought Margaret Thatcher was ok, wouldn't approve of Boris but wouldn't say a word against him as he 'is one of us' .....

rafichagran Sun 01-Mar-20 20:04:23

Exactly lemon personnel choice. My friends son is called Theodore, Theo for short, he is a very hard working, pleasant, and popular young man.

lemongrove Sun 01-Mar-20 19:55:22

I quite like those names too, although Theo not so much.
I thought they would be names like Apple, Mercury or Spacedust.

lemongrove Sun 01-Mar-20 19:53:02

Oh, x posts.

lemongrove Sun 01-Mar-20 19:52:41

Gill ? I will have to give that some thought, I don’t want a Mrs Slocombe hair colour.

What names do the children have Hetty? You’re not thinking of Rees Mogg are you?

rafichagran Sun 01-Mar-20 19:51:04

Silly names Hetty Lara, Milo Cassia and Theodore. I dont think they are silly, in fact I like the boys names of Milo and Theodore.
I know people neither like or trust Boris, and there is alot I disagree with him on, but let's not try to find petty things to say, and be fair names are personnel choice.

Hetty58 Sun 01-Mar-20 19:35:59

Let's just hope that the new kid doesn't get a silly name like the four from his second marriage.

AdeleJay Sun 01-Mar-20 19:32:40

I wish I could drum up some excitement. Sigh. I don’t wish Carrie or the baby any harm but I too think this news has been released as a distraction so that the great British public don’t dwell on the floods, Covid19, Priti Patel an Australia deal etc

I have to say I really don’t like our Prime Minister at all though as I hate lies & self interest - sorry

dorcas1950 Sun 01-Mar-20 19:24:38

Good for you Maddyone and Chestnut.

Hetty58 Sun 01-Mar-20 19:22:03

I feel sorry for her. She'll have two kids to care for, the overgrown toddler and the new one.

GillT57 Sun 01-Mar-20 19:14:28

Oh, and it is not bloody joyous or a cause for celebration other than for Carrie, her family, and hopefully him.

GillT57 Sun 01-Mar-20 19:12:58

True, none of us can possible know lemon, although we love to speculate. I stick by my opinion though, that he is not every Mother's dream for their daughter. As to your hair colour, I think you are more of a soft blue, with kind pinkish streaks, definitely not a blue, hard hairsprayed blue rinse!

varian Sun 01-Mar-20 19:11:46

True lemon. Some folk have no standards.
