...but not in government matters he’s sired an offspring

trisher Sun 01-Mar-20 16:24:11

Chestnut actiually I wouldn't be "howling"if he wasn't marrying her. I happen to believe serial marriages are less honourable than just living together. Anyone can change their mind and move on to a new relationship but making vows each time is either dishonest or stupid.
Still no comments about the fact that these women all had a professional relationship with Boris before he shagged them? Or the other women he was involved with while still married? Mind you if I was Carrie I'd be watching all the women he works with in the future. A leopard doesn't change its spots. Still we seem to be rivalling Italy and Belosconi for a PM and scandal and Boris's fan club apparently think it's OK. Who would ever have imagined that a return to real British values included adultery?

Callistemon I too am qualified to criticise and agree with your post entirely. It was just what I was thinking before I read it

Callistemon Sun 01-Mar-20 16:16:39

I'll put my hand up, I am qualified to criticise!

All I will say is I'm glad it's not my DD
It's not the fact of a younger or older partner or the fact that someone has been divorced twice, although that is not a promising track record for a lasting relationship, it's the other affairs. And the fact that he is, according to his other children, not a great father.
If he marries Carrie, then a vacancy is created.

Maremia Sun 01-Mar-20 16:16:13

Saw this on Twitter, with reference to the bad press about his lack of interest in the flooding up North and the spread of the coronavirus, 'Oven ready decoy'!

Chestnut Sun 01-Mar-20 16:08:15

Good comments lemongrove and maddyone has made some really good points. You talk about morality trisher, well he's marrying her isn't he? If he wasn't marrying her then you'd be howling about that.

When every last one of us can say we have only been married to one partner, only had children by one partner, never been divorced, and never had an abortion or an affair, then criticism can justified.
Okay in answer to maddyone's excellent comment, who on this thread is qualified to 'cast the first stone'? Do any of you anti-Boris howlers here qualify? If so then please come forward and claim the moral high ground.

Callistemon Sun 01-Mar-20 16:07:39

Joesoap in answer to your question about how many children Boris has - I asked the same question of DS this morning
His answer 'I doubt that he knows, so I don't know why you think I might!'

GagaJo Sun 01-Mar-20 16:01:45

Yes, BUT the point is he has been absent for the last couple of weeks while HUGE things have been going on, and the first news we DO get is, he's producing his 6th child.

No insult to mother or child, but SO WHAT? He's supposed to be running the country not swanning around at expensive parties and having snuggle time with his up the duff girl friend! If he's NOT up to the job, get someone in who IS.

maddyone Sun 01-Mar-20 15:58:29

Gaga, I am not by any means a Boris Babe, perish the thought, but I think some of the comments on this thread base, and in poor taste.

Trisher, I am not by any means saying it’s okay for a younger man to have an affair, whether the the woman is younger or older than him. I don’t think age has got anything to do with it. What I am saying, and I thought it was perfectly clear, but obviously it wasn’t, is that people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, or as it says in the Bible, let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
I don’t condone affairs, divorces, abortions, but I do think that these things are up to the people involved, they are personal, and it’s not up to others to judge. I will not be judgmental about BJ and Carrie simply because it’s none of my business, and equally it’s none of yours. What is our business, and we have legitimate right to discuss and approve or not, is how BJ operates as a Prime Minister, and the decisions he, and his government make about the things that that affect the country.

Oh my word this has got nasty all I ll say is I know what all the Boris fans would have said in droves if it had been Corbyn having a child with a mistress, oh my word the air would have been blue That man didn’t breathe without being called everything under the sun and I wasn’t a fan but his treatment was atrocious as was Diane Abbott’s

I ve got nothing against Tories I have a good friend a local councillor himself who also doesn’t have any good words to say for the present crew
I have nothing against the new baby I feel sorry for it, I have nothing against Carrie at all BUT I do think he has rubbed the electors nose in it he’s been ‘missing’ for some time, didn’t go to visit the flood victims , obviously has no plans to take to the EU, has a huge shake up going on with a Priti Patel but has time to think of his own personal relationship, so at best very bad timing

AGAA4 Sun 01-Mar-20 15:38:05

I was completely underwhelmed by Boris's news. More important things going on at the moment. I love babies and wish much love to this new little one, however.

Greymar Sun 01-Mar-20 15:34:36

There have been some awful comments about politicians from all parties. My feeling is 'What next?' The whole edifice seems to be crumbling. Old fashioned, but BJ and his partner not have had a small wedding, moved in and had a baby?

Rosina Sun 01-Mar-20 15:27:48

Well this has certainly been a lively thread - with some less than lovely comments. GrannyGravy, I too thought comments couldn't sink much lower, but they can!
It seems that a private life can't be had if you work in the public eye - and let's see if we can find a faultless politician, or indeed a faultless poster, as a glowing example to us all. Well said maddyone.

GagaJo Sun 01-Mar-20 15:17:09

Fair enough Kandinsky.

I think MOST of the comments are about Boris being a feckless father actually, GG13.

Some of those about are on point tho. She WAS accused of theft/over claiming expenses.

Being pregnant doesn't help working 'first time mums' if they commit a crime. Plus, pregnancy isn't an illness.

trisher Sun 01-Mar-20 15:14:49

maddyone the blog is from 28th Jan 2020, so hardly out of date. You can read it here www.conservativehome.com/platform/2020/01/harry-benson-number-10-needs-a-family-policy-unit.html
Of course divorce happens. But hopefully and ideally it happens in a reasonable timetable where one relationship does not overlap another. And a good father supports and protects his children which it's evident, from what his children have said, Boris hasn't done. What you are in effect saying is that it's OK for a man to lie and cheat on a woman and then discard her for a younger model as long as he has the cash to do it. It's also Ok apparently for a man to use his position to pick the women he uses. Really I am shocked that anyone should support a man like this. You do realise he cheated 3 times during his second marriage and his wife took him back? All I can think is that having voted for him you now feel a bit of an idiot and have to make excuses for him.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-Mar-20 15:13:32

Gagajo I am not a Boris Babe, just find that some of these posts about a first time mum-to-be abhorrent.

Kandinsky Sun 01-Mar-20 15:13:10

Yes that’s true GagaJo.
But thankfully I’d never call an unborn child a devil or a bastard.
I have standards.

Labaik Sun 01-Mar-20 15:12:47

'Goes to show age does not stop you being rude and stupid!'...totally agree. I mean, Johnson is 55. You'd think he'd've learned how not to be by now.

GagaJo Sun 01-Mar-20 15:10:23

Don't be such a hypocrite Kandinsky. You're prone to vitriol yourself.

Ah, the Boris babes are out in force today. He can do anything and you lot will defend him. But if anyone had suggested pre-election about the stuff he's done/not done, there would have been howls of 'rubbish'.

GardenofEngland Sun 01-Mar-20 15:05:32

Goes to show age does not stop you being rude and stupid!

maddyone Sun 01-Mar-20 15:03:49

What do people get out of such comments?
Dislike the politics, fine! But some of the comments on this thread are at the playground level.

maddyone Sun 01-Mar-20 15:02:06

It’s truly unbelievable GrannyGravy. Why would anyone speak in such terms about an unborn baby?
And the comment about the trousers is base, from a grown adult too.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-Mar-20 14:57:58

You think that some posters have sunk as low as possible and then along comes blueskies

blueskies Sun 01-Mar-20 14:51:56

Another b*****d in No 10 then. Good career move Carrie Symonds. Wonder if she washes his trousers as he is said to go "commando".

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-Mar-20 14:48:10

Carrie Symonds was a victim of John Warboys, gave evidence in court which helped with his conviction.

A strong brave women.

GardenofEngland Sun 01-Mar-20 14:35:51

Wow so now we decide who can and when they can have a baby if they are in government. He can support his child, maybe focus on all the ones who can't and expect us to support them!
