St. David’s Day

A belated Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus!

I've just been given 3 bunches of daffodils and a leek, so I'm well pleased!

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus

to you Anniebach and all other WelshGrans on here

Happy St Davids Day.

Ha ha! I surprised myself when it came up blowing in the wind! I wasn't sure if GN would take it. It's a GIF file that I downloaded from the internet some years ago. They are little attachments that move, and you can put them into e-mails too.

Are you hiding behind the flag, waving it Chestnut ??

Wow Chestnut how did you do that?

Well done

Happy St David's Day!! ? ?‍♀️
My mother was 100% Welsh from Edeirnion although I live in England. I feel a very close link to all things Welsh, the mountains, the harps, the history. I can pronounce the words but can't speak the language (she never taught me although the family all spoke Welsh around the table ?) My daughters won the school fancy dress competition (years ago) dressed in national Welsh costumes. I was so proud! ?

I celebrated here in Wales with some friends. We had lamb for our lunch. The restaurant had no daffodils!

When I was a child we wore our best clothes to school on St David’s Day and we had a concert ( all in Welsh) in the morning. The afternoon we went home. Just the half day
.
It was lovely in Carmarthen yesterday. A long procession, lots of flags, a brass band and clog dancers. We were having tea and Welsh cakes at the time

The school Eisteddfod was held early, on Friday, and not that many girls dressed in traditional costume. They seem to prefer rugby tops, Welsh flag t shirts, daffodil outfits these days!

Happy St David's Day Anniebach and all Welsh Grans, better late than never, better never late

The DGC were staying and got dressed in their Welsh rugby tops and daffodil hairband!

We've had Welsh cakes, Bara Brith and leek and potato soup.?????????????????????

I'd completely forgotten. Like anniebach says, it's not the same if on a weekend.

No cuties dressed up

Rhossili is beautiful, I long to walk on Worms Head again.

Just received a photograph from elder granddaughter, on the
ski slopes in Bulgaria and waving the Welsh Flag. ???????

I am with you all in song and in spirit.

Happy St David's Day to all you lovely Welsh people, can't find an appropriate emoticon such as a leek, a dragon or even the humble daffodil, but I'll raise a cup of tea and munch on a piece of bara brith (virtual sadly) to Wales and hope the flooding subsides asap. In the meantime dreaming of sunny days overlooking one of the most jaw dropping spectacular beaches of the British Isles that is Rhossili x

Thank you lemon ?

English men put their wives on a pedestal, Welshmen put
their wives on a flag !

Diolch pawb / Thanks everyone.
Looking forward to singing with our community choir this afternoon.

Aww, how sweet ( the Eistefford, not the hamster harming)?
Where is the Welsh dragon emoji? I will root about and try and find it.....

Here it is!

Like the day to fall on a week day, to see the little girls going to
school in their Welsh outfits with a daffodil and the Boys in
Welsh rugby shirts with leeks.

My elder daughter when in junior school nearly killed the class hamster by sharing a leek !

Happiest day was elder granddaughter winning both the Crown and Chair in the school Eistefford, only child to have won both. She was a titch so her little legs dangled over the edge of the bardic chair and the crown nearly touched her eyes ?

Happy St David's Day1

It is also my BiL's 80th birthday but he has had to cancel the party because he and his wife have been advised to self-isolate!

The Welsh headmaster at our childrens primary school used to give out full sized Mars Bars to all?

Happy Saint Davids Day *Annie" and all the other Welsh grans. My Aunt who was from Newport Sth Wales sadly died last year in her mid 90's she used to hand out daffy's to us all on March 1st .

How are all the Welsh GNers celebrating today?

Oops posted to soon ...... and all other Welsh Gransnetters
