Jewellery

I have good jewellery but have not worn any since lockdown. There doesn't seem to be any point when no one will see it. I also feel sorry I have no gds to give it to.

I like strings of beads but I can't fasten them now. I sometimes wear a cheap pendant or stringed beads on one of these convenient cords that can be adjusted, and own only three of them, but I usually prefer a scarf round my neck.

I have very little jewellery, partly because I never had the money,partly because I never went in for big stuff when I was younger. A few nice “pieces” - pearl necklace, etc. I had a pair of earrings belong to my great grandmother, which I gave to DD on her 40th. I’ve given my children a gold signet ring like mine - told them they could sell it if ever they needed money.
I always wear earrings, dangly ones. At some stage, the children started giving me (cheap) fish earrings (I’m Aries btw) and now have over 100 different pairs. If/when on holiday, we get a pair of fish earrings as souvenirs, rather than tat.

I wear earrings – some cheap and cheerful and some quite special – and rings – all of them gold with genuine stones – every day. I also tend to wear the same silver and pearl pendant on a silver chain all the time; it was a 60th birthday gift from my daughter. I have a selection of other necklaces including two strings of pearls and one extremely valuable heavy gold one which I wear only very special occasions. Most of my "good" jewellery was either a present from my father or inherited from family members and so is especially treasured. My watch is nothing special but extremely useful.

Mostly same jewellery every day - two 'surfer' type short necklaces I made from tiny beads, one with a silver cross added, the other interspersed with seed pearls from an antique necklace I bought at a car boot sale, plus two bead anklets. Also three silver rings I bought in St Ives. Ear rings vary every day, a mix of ones I've remade from broken jewellery. Definitely feel undressed without my earrings! Would love to wear a silver chain but silver always tarnishes on me.

Gold for me every time, everyday. Sometimes costume items mixed in. Never silver as it doesn't seem to suit my colouring. I love jewellery & cycle it depending on season. Always earrings, always a necklace, certain rings with diamonds on my left hand, signet ring on right pinky and nearly always, a bracelet or some bangles esp if I'm going out. Tasteful, precious items and not at all like a Christmas tree!

I don't wear much jewellery either. Always wedding ring, gold ring on my right hand, gold chain bracelet and locket all of which I don't take off. I haven't worn earrings at all during lockdown. Engagement rings, eternity rings etc will all go to my granddaughters.
I have a friend who wears huge rings with great panache but I never feel they are for me.

I have a few pieces of real jewellery, but loads of junk stuff that I love to sort through and wear.
Like JuliaM, I had a gold chain, with a Jerusalem cross, that I wore constantly, but began to get the tiny skin tags, so I don't wear it any more. I suppose I should give it to our DD now.
Now I wear a silver chain, with a cross always. No earrings, as I couldn't bear the thought of having my ears pierced.
Always a watch and my mother's eternity ring.

I have 2 rings that I wear all the time - a ring with my initials on that I was bought when I was 21 (I'm 67 now) and a ring that was my Mum's first engagement ring and then she met the man who she eventually married and had 3 children with (my father). The man didn't want the ring back so she gave it to a cousin who was also godmother to. This cousin gave the ring back to me a few years ago.
I wear stud earrings all the time and sometimes the necklace, but that's it. I've got loads of brooches but rarely wear them and can't get rid of them as most of them have frogs on them and I love them to look at.

I have lots of jewllery, costume and.some really good pieces given by DH.
Jewellery making, using gemstones was my hobby, until my RA put paid to that.
I wore it all the time, when I was working, but since I haven't been out much since March, is usually just earrings.
I always wear cheap costume jewellery on holiday, if it gets lost or stolen, it's no big deal.

My daughter isn't a jewellery fan, so I've said she should just sell it all, apart from my engagement and my mother's engagement ring, which my DGD should get.

I have lots of jewellery, but like most, I only wear a few pieces, so going to try and rotate them.
Bought a diamond band to go to Egypt 15years ago, instead of taking an expensive engagement ring - so I wear that all the time now. Always ear-rings and watch too.
I have a Tiffany bracelet bought in New York and every time I go I get a charm for it - up to 7 now, but I hardly ever wear it!
Of course this has been a strange year.

I rarely wear jewellery now apart from earrings (which. I feel undressed without!) and tend to stick to the same old favourites over and over. I’ve got some lovely stuff accumulated over the years, real and costume, kept in four stacked boxes. I hope my DDs and DIL like some of it when I drop off the perch, though they don’t seem to wear jewellery much.

There are lots of memories tied up in some of the pieces. Just the other day I had a sort out of some broken bits and came across a pendant I’d forgotten all about, a piece of beaten silver with an unusual polished stone that DH and I picked up on a beach when we were on a study course in the USSR together 47 years ago. He had it made for me when we got home. I’ve also got a silver necklace made from my great-grandfather’s watch chain, several jet pieces from my beloved Whitby and a ring made from two of my mother’s wedding rings, which wore thin and were replaced (I wear that one all the time).

The Alzheimer’s Society take donations of any unwanted jewellery, including broken items (which is why I was having a sort out the other day). You can request a free post envelope on their website and they’re also glad of old coins of any description.

Like some others I have a chain with a small charm on it which means a lot to me and rarely leave my neck. I also wear small gold earings in my pierced ears but because I struggle with my fingers to change them the same pair stay in all the time.

I have some lovely pieces of jewellery but never go anywhere to wear them. I have a cameo bracelet and ring which were my maternal grandmothers and an aquamarine and cubic zircon pendant which was my paternal grandfather's wedding gift to my grandmother. In spite of these pieces being over 100 years old they are quite modern in appearance.

I used to wear a gold Chain that my DH bought me when he retired, l never took it off slept in it showered in it, it became part of me almost. After a couple of years, l started getting small skin tag type moles around my neck, visited my GP as there were several of them, and he said that they were being caused by irritation from the chain rubbing my neck. I had them removed, but never have l worn any metal chain around my neck. Even Necklaces and beads are a rare part of my attire just lately. When we used to travel abroad a lot, l never took any Jewlery with me, there are some parts of the world where Tourists are prime targets for Muggings and thefts, most of what l own that is precious to me could never be replaced for sentimental reasons so l was determined never to give the local criminals a chance in the first place!

I have lots too, kept on a necklace ‘hanger’ on my dressing table, rather than tucked away in a drawer, so I wear something every day, including ear rings.
The ‘good stuff’ is tucked away however I should wear it more.

I keep meaning to sort mine out I have lots of beads and chunky things- I will get round today/ soon.

I have a jewellery box inherited from my mother, she set such high store by it. Those were the days when carpets, fur coats, china, jewellery and such like were so important and were considered family heirlooms. Now, my children absolutely don´t want the persian carpets or the ornate dinner service. Their homes are clean and airy, without stuffy sofas and moth-eaten carpets, china is plain white and put through the dishwasher. Times move on. I permanently wear a pair of diamond studs, I have always hated droopy earings, on account of my mother always wearing them. I love beads and have a huge collection. My favourite is a string of pearls given to me by my parents.

I have some beautiful jewellery, mainly inherited.
My most treasured piece is a Victorian crystal heart with a silver bee, I wear it on a thick silver chain but originally would have been on a velvet choker or silk rope.
I love it so much, it belonged to my husbands grandmother who left it to my late MIL, she never wore it.
I feel it’s so special and whenever I put it in it raises my spirits.
An antique dealer once noticed it at an event, he gave me his card and asked if I would sell.
I hope I will always have it.

I love jewellery and have a lot. I buy better quality pieces and save for them. I always ask my partner to buy me jewellery for my birthday and Ch***tmas.

I don’t wear more than three pieces at a time, earrings, ring and watch, or necklace, bracelet and earrings etc. I think it’s important that I don’t look like a Chr***tmas tree.
I buy large, contemporary pieces and I really like Monica Vinader’s jewellery.

I do not have any costume jewellery so wear my good stuff all the time. Always have a gold necklace and bracelet or watch on and wear rings too. I never wear earrings as my ears are not pierced and clip ons are uncomfortable.

I did wear lots of costume jewellery when I was at work. My granddaughters love to rifle through it, playing jewellery shops
Nowadays, I wear my wedding ring and pearl stud earrings daily
So basically I have not much interest in jewels (as the girls call them)

I have just sent a large bag of costume jewellery (necklaces and bracelets) to the charity shop today. I don't think I had worn any of them for a number of years. I prefer to wear now the simple gold jewellery that DH bought me. My ears are pierced twice as well - I wear gold studs every day and add another pair of (usually) gold ear-rings if I'm going out.
I had a fairy too who spirited away a beautiful diamond stud ear-ring, (given to me by late DH) but of course I kept the odd one, and then DGD found that the fairy had hidden the other one between the carpet and the skirting board! I was so happy!
