Soop's kitchen for kind and caring folk

All this talk about hair! soop is right * dragonfly* it will grow back and be lovely by the time we all come out of isolation. I should've nipped into the hairdresser's when I went into the village last Thursday, it's growing manically. If the hairdresser's open tomorrow I really must get it done because otherwise in 12 weeks time I will look like a yeti !
I feel so fortunate soop and Sparklefizz I've only had to have breast conserving surgery. Meant to have my first post-op scan next month, that should go ahead, fingers crossed. Fingers crossed for your op' going ahead ann Delays do seem virtually inevitable for these things now though.
Annodomini, Galan and dragonfly I don't think I'd like either a rock bottom or a boob like a lawn, think I 'll stick with my saggy bottom and a few nipple hairs I can pluck

Non urgent operations postponed after April 15th.
I wonder just where I stand because of my age.

Anno ‘rock bottom?’ Sounds uncomfortable to sit down

soop have you tried birdseed in a silk bag as a prosthetic. Said to be very good except when it rains.

Self-isolating and quite comfortable with it - the joggers and a cosy fleece are great when I don't have to see anyone nobody has to see me. However, that toothache I was whingeing about at the weekend - I thought it had calmed down a bit and was dilly-dallying about the dentist. But it is playing up again today and reluctantly I have phoned the dentist, not that I don't like him - quite the reverse - but I can foresee a root canal and a crown in the offing and my credit card is protesting. Well, at least I had my hair cut a week ago, so it has room to grow.
Ann, I am hoping against hope that your operation will happen. Fingers crossed.
The family have been good at checking up on me, but it's frustrating that I won't be able to go to see them by train for some months. So be it.
Toilet paper? I had taken to ordering mine from 'you know who' before the crisis hit us, so I am unlikely to reach rock bottom anytime soon.

GrannySomerset "In the olden days" we coped with all manner of stuff. I caught scarlet fever at the age of four and a bit. Taken away in an ambulance (no parent allowed to accompany me) to Daventry to remain in isolation for several weeks. No visitors allowed. Parents could wave through a window.

DGD2 asked innocently if self isolating made us feel like lepers “in the olden days”. Beginning to think she might be on to womething.

Re the toilet rolls.
My D rang to say it would appear a blackmarket is operating.
Many youngsters may not understand that.
She has a Tesco local 5 minutes walk away which she uses regularly.
She was in for bits at the weekend and the chap on the till said“were you wanting toilet rolls?”
Well yes she replied but you don’t have any.
With a nod and a wink, well I imagine that happened, he produced a pack of four from under the counter.

EllanV that reminds me of many years ago when my mum decided she wanted an entire wall in the living room covered with large mirror tiles. It took my dad all weekend to put them up and hardly any time at all to rip them all off when my mum took a good long hard look at the finished result, and said she didn't like them.

A BIG virtual (((hug))) for you all. What a fabulous bunch of ladies you are, finding humour in the most difficult of situations.

No toilet rolls in Sainsbury's at 6.45 am Sparklefizz what is going on with toilet rolls!! I popped into a small polish supermarket just up the road from us and bought toilet rolls, kitchen rolls and tissues. Only one pack of each and there were plenty left on the shelves.

GG and urmstongran sounds as if you'll be kept well entertained.

Your isolation wardrobe sounds very comfy mbmb.

We're restricting our activities but still plan on going to our holiday lodge at the weekend for the first time this year. It will probably be quieter there than it is here as at least 50% of the owners are older; a change is as good as a rest as the saying goes.

I have a hair appointment on Friday and the dogs are being groomed Thursday which is probably just as well as there's no way of telling when we'll all get pampered again.

soop I love going braless after six o'clock. As I've had one breast removed (cancer) I look very lop-sided. However, it is blissful to be free from the prosthesis which is marvellous under clothing but can feel a tad itchy after a few hours.

This is my cat, Phoebe. Sometimes calm, sometimes bonkers, sometimes both at once ... aaaarrrgh.

Decided to read one or two posts and I'm glad I did. What a hoot ! That's made my day GG and Urmstongran. Don't intend to sound mean, but keep us posted with these tales of isolation. They're hilarious.

It puts me in mind of my dear old mum and dad when dad put the wallpaper on upside down while mum was out shopping hoping for a nice surprise when she returned.
He never heard the last of it and all I could do was laugh. Bless him, he couldn't knock a nail in straight.
