Thank you Chicken for the picture of the very handsome Baker who has quite won my heart since I love ginger cats. So glad to know he is well. A bit of good news, which we sorely need.

chicken Wed 18-Mar-20 12:21:22

Thank you GrannySomerset. I've always loved ginger cats too!

Here are some of the primroses in my wild garden to lift the spirits of anyone shut in away from Mother Nature.

Greyduster Wed 18-Mar-20 12:47:18

Here you are, Syn..... I am giving him the hard stare! I desperately need a haircut but I’m not going, so by the time they let us back into society, I will look like Cousin It from the Adams family! My son has christened me ‘Gangsta Granny’! He wanted to know whether I was really disinfecting the notes or wiping off the fingerprints from my last heist! Second photo is my better (not a lot better), less scary ‘public face’!

Greyduster Wed 18-Mar-20 12:48:56

Chicken I love your primroses - Spring is really sprung - and the photo of Baker!

cornergran Wed 18-Mar-20 13:04:57

All the photos are bringing a smile here. For a variety of reasons you’ll understand grin. You’re a brave woman greyd. smile.

I’ll be joining you in the ‘desperately needing a hair cut’ club. I used to cut my own, haven’t for many years, wonder if I remember how.

Our current dilemma is the hygienist appointments next week. Do we or don’t we? I’m erring on the side of caution, Mr C reminds me the hygienist uses gloves and a mask. Am I being a wimp or sensible?

Mr C continues to wield a paintbrush. We’ve agreed one door frame a day just might leave a smile on my face and reduce the need for emergency access to the leg of lamb. grin. Off for a walk now, will do us both good.

Be sensible out there everyone.

Sparklefizz Wed 18-Mar-20 13:32:07

Lovely photos! Baker is a handsome boy ... and primroses, always welcome.

cornergran I was due to go to the dentist today for a non-urgent appt. Dentist phoned yesterday to see what I wanted to do as I am in the high risk group due to age and illnesses. At first I said I would still go, but then afterwards had 2nd thoughts and cancelled. There's no point in being wise after the event.

I agree with Mr C that the dentists wear gloves and a mask, but what about the reception area and the people who have been there? Sadly there are many thoughtless and selfish people around and who can guarantee they won't have visited the dentist?

Keep well everyone.

annodomini Wed 18-Mar-20 13:37:45

You would have been proud of me and I'll tell you why. As I mentioned previously, I've had toothache since the weekend. Today I was able to get an appointment with my dentist who is rather under-occupied at the moment. He diagnosed that a nerve had died, introducing an infection and I'd need a root canal job. As it happened, he had nothing better to do this morning, so, with the aid of some spectacular technology, he went ahead with the 'operation'. Three anaesthetic injections numbed me perfectly and all I had to do was lie there with my mouth wide open for an hour and a half. Now my face is beginning to come to life again and I can, perhaps, have a brew without slurping!
I'm impressed with all the things some of you are doing in your captivity. I am tempted to do some baking, but then I would have to eat it. Oh dear!
On the radio, I heard a florist saying that there would be a dearth of flowers for mothers' day. Our offspring will have to do some hard thinking.
Most predictable news - Eurovision is off! ?

chicken Wed 18-Mar-20 13:42:57

Congrats. anno.---what a relief to be pain free again. Enjoy your cuppa.

Sparklefizz Wed 18-Mar-20 14:42:26

Glad you have "survived" anno flowers You deserve a treat - perhaps a piece of cake to suck smile

Charleygirl5 Wed 18-Mar-20 14:51:04

Hearing that Eurovision is off has made my day if not my month- I loathe it.

Corner it is an appointment with the hygienist- I would not go. Would you like me telling Mr. C what he can and cannot do? I am very happy to run the norty step- it would fill up quite quickly with some of these men. I promise to sort them out.

chicken I was wondering about Baker- he looks a handsome young man- he is so lucky to have pulled through and he looks as though he is in charge.

I was so touched this pm- a nephew by marriage rang- he lives about 15 minutes drive away, wondering if I had everything and he was at the end of a phone. He and his girlfriend hold down 2 jobs each but I thought it so sweet of him. I have no living relatives and I live on my own but I have common sense and have always been self-sufficient. There are some decent people around.

Grey the 2 photos look to me as though they are different people! The second is really lovely.

Greyduster Wed 18-Mar-20 14:54:36

One out of two’s not bad, Charley?

Charleygirl5 Wed 18-Mar-20 15:13:13

If you are baking cakes- please may I turn up to collect? You can always place it on the doorstep- provided you have sanitised it and the cake! I love carrot cake and I think a walnut cake is yummy. I am hungry already and I do not dine until around 7,30pm.

Baker You are a star!

Ditto Greyduster anno and every one of you lot who have put a smile on our faces. By George, we need to smile.

I've been ironing for my pal. After which, we had a couple or more of chocolates and a wee dram for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed the banter. It was just what we needed.

Wishing you all a little light relief from the gloom and doom.

chicken Wed 18-Mar-20 15:46:13

Just heard from Gd from Oz who is over here gap-year working at a posh prep school--- they are closing because of the virus so there,s no more work. She can still live there, thank goodness, but she's really going to miss looking after the little boys, some of them privileged terrors!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 18-Mar-20 15:46:32

I think the lighter GN threads particularly Soops kitchen will help us survive our weeks of purdah.

We must look to the future with whatever optimism we can muster.

(Mr.GG has redeemed himself, he brought home two bunches of daffodils and a bunch of lilies flowers, as he is still popping out when absolutely necessary he has limited my hugs sad)

Synonymous Wed 18-Mar-20 15:49:53

GreyD I hope Mr GreyD was shaking in his boots, that is an awesome photo! You look lovely in the second one and your hair is probably short enough to last a long time so you will be the only one who will notice. I am glad that we both had a hair cut during the last week as we won't frighten the horses either.
Himself has taken this isolating opportunity to get stuck into sorting out the study in anticipation of DD coming up and taking it over as her snug. He has even started on the drawers of his bedside chest which is all very encouraging! I can't get over how much 'stuff' we all have which is not needed, not looked at and not wanted. hmm
Lovely sunshine here today, so much for which to be thankful!

Charleygirl5 Wed 18-Mar-20 15:59:04

As I appear to have 4 months to get my house in order I started today with my nightdress drawer and even I was shocked to see the number I possess, the vast majority of them very wearable and some almost new.

Apart from food, I am not going to spend any money next month. All bills are paid by d/d.

I must hunt around for knickers- I am sure I have around 40 rather than 4.

Loved the Money Laundering posts and the stern look in your photo,Grey, really funny.
I absolutely love Ginger cats and have had 2 in my life. They were posh cats,Abysinnians,so were called Sorrell rather than ginger.Really amazing cats with larger than life personalities
Had my telephone appointment with Solicitor re Will today.I will be pleased when it is done and sorted.

soop Wed 18-Mar-20 16:29:36

We are all in this buggeration together. There is no escape. We can take whatever precautions necessary and still retain a sense of balance and hopefulness. Every day, in whatever way, I shall attempt to find something lighthearted to share with you lot. Right now, the robin is singing his little heart out as he sits on the shrub, in the sunshine, outside the window.

I scoffed four chocolates at lunchtime. Why? Because our pal wanted to recycle an empty box. hmm wink grin Pathetic!

Galen Wed 18-Mar-20 16:37:36

I had a phone call today from a withheld number. It was some bloke offering a will writing service.
A) I already have a will
B) I am TPS and cold calling is prohibited.
I’m afraid I tore him a defaecatory orifice in a new location.
This is taking advantage of elderly people who may be very scared and insecure at this difficult time.
I’m sure I’m getting more irritable than I used to be.
Ami loosing my marbles?

soop Wed 18-Mar-20 16:40:40

Galen Maybe. grin

soop Wed 18-Mar-20 16:41:23

I had a similar call. I asked the caller to "kindly piss off".

mbmb Wed 18-Mar-20 16:42:02

anno glad you got your dental treatment. Greyduster you could have a whole new career in money laundering.

I toyed briefly with the idea of putting on my old Mr Motivator DVD but ate 2 Warburton's teacakes instead. When this 4 months is finally up I'll be wobbling out of the door if I'm not careful.

My DD sent me a case of wine this morning, bless her - she knows her mother. I shall have to ration myself carefully.

soop Wed 18-Mar-20 16:43:29

mbmb Shall we wobble off together? wink

NanaandGrampy Wed 18-Mar-20 17:03:32

Evening all !!

I have to say Grey I see the likeness lol

I like your style mbmb - its hot cross buns in this house. I think your DD should send more wine and with luck you could spend the whole 12 weeks squiddly as our little boys say !

Glad the dentist went well anno . I was impressed with my last root canal where the dentist had a camera in my mouth and offered me the opportunity to see my root canal in 6ft technicolour glory on the wall ! I declined lol

Its been a grey old day here so we did our very last trip out to the little local post office where we posted parcels to all the grandchildren and daughters as they cannot now come for Easter. We didn't send their eggs ( and quite frankly the eggs may not make it lol ) !!

Hoping you are keeping well xx
