Baggs you should be running for Government with those skills !
mbmb So glad you're getting help and kindness, doesn't that lift the spirits! Sorry though you miss a garden at this time of year.
Charleygirl. What a diplomat!!!!!! "He looks so uncomfortable because he's MARGINALLY (?) too large for it" Even FatBoy grinned at that. I do have a Tara lookalike, now there's a girl who knows how to enjoy the high life. I shall look out a photo in good time for any cat napping.
Lins1066 We could do with some rainbows in our local windows, I think. I'm trying to do a Miss Marple here, is there a chance that you are in Hastings ?
MawB. Do sincerely hope that your "smallies" get well very soon.
Carillion Many thanks for your mention. Beautiful horse - if we were still in Normandy, I should definitely be doing the same. Not many horses down here - less grass.
Phoenix I laughed and laughed. Not heard that. It describes every cat, doesn't it.
Smileless Dog walking x twice. Brilliant and sensible idea.

I'm convinced that since off licences have joined the ranks of essential shops to stay open, you're all in The Kitchen drinking. Everyone has been touched by the Hilarity brush this afternoon : I laughed so much at Smileless' description of her not fitting her clothes and then had to face Granmarie's travel destination lists.

Doodle lovely offer of a bigger sewing basket but my cat says thanks, kind lady, and please see Phoenix comment regarding The Sacred Cat Code ! grin

I hope your DG recovers soon Maw it’s a bit close to home! ?

dragonfly46 Wed 25-Mar-20 14:53:04

Love the picture of Weiwei the Chow N&G!

Grannmarie Wed 25-Mar-20 14:48:24

Hello again,
I've just been rearranging the freezer to make some more space, but there's still plenty of broth in a big tub in the fridge, Smileless 2012, you are very welcome to a couple of bowls for your teasmile.

MawB, sending love and prayers ( if that's ok?) for your dear grandson's speedy recovery.

Time for some funnies?

Doodle Wed 25-Mar-20 14:46:44

grandmafrench I have a bigger sewing basket than yours if Fat boy would like to try it for size ? (I have PMd you by the way on a different matter)
granygravy hope you are feeling better soon.
maw do hope your DGS is ok and the family manage to avoid it.
soop you are an example to us all (do a couple of miles for me too will you ?)
N&G you are a crafting masterclass. Knitted animals, cards T shirts etc. Have you ever thought of doing online classes on GN to keep us out of trouble ?
Hello to everyone. Have read all the posts but can’t reply to all just want to say I hope you are all ok and managing to find things to do to keep occupied. TOYA

Lins1066 Wed 25-Mar-20 14:35:34

Maw I hope that your DGS recovers soon xx

Smileless2012 Wed 25-Mar-20 14:30:04

I'm glad your chest infection is getting better GrannGravy but do be careful not to do too much too soon.

Your son sounds very inventive soop, just knowing what he does has tired me out!grin.

I have the same problem as your beautiful cat Grandmafrench thinking I can fit into things that are clearly too small for me.

Binge watching's a great idea mbmb; I have a tendency to do that myself from time to time. I'm glad you enjoyed it. What will you be binge watching next?

I hope you take care not to wake Tara up when you crawl into bed Charleygirl that would be very inconsiderate of yougrin.

Didn't see your post until we'd had our lunch Grannmarie but if there's any of that lovely home made chicken broth left over, I wouldn't mind some for my tea!

Sorry to hear about your GDS2 MawB but I'm glad your D was more positive about his condition this morning. Sending best wishes to your and all your familyflowers.

Well Mr. S. has finished tidying up our roof terrace and it looks lovely. We've decided not to take our once a day 30 minutes of exercise together because if we go separately our dogs will get two reasonable walks a day.

Thank goodness we all have somesunshineto cheer us up even if we can't get out and about to enjoy it, as we would normally do.

Stay safe everyone TOYA

You know cats mantra, "I sits, I fits"grin

Carillion01 Wed 25-Mar-20 14:23:38

Maw xxx

Carillion01 Wed 25-Mar-20 14:22:48

So sorry Grandmafrench I've missed welcoming you! Xxx

Glorious two days here in Brittany. Attaching a photo of Montalbano, yes, that is apparently his name. So gorgeous. When his less than kind owner isn't looking I chuck a carrot and little apple over the fence to him.
Going out for emergency cheese shopping tomorrow. Might 'net' an unsuspecting gendarme if I'm lucky soop ????

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-Mar-20 14:17:46

MawB, so sorry to hear of your DGS, I wish him a speedy recovery.

MawB Wed 25-Mar-20 14:05:59

Hope you are all well?
I am a bit distracted as it looks very much as if DGS2 (aged 8) may have it.
He was poorly at the weekend. And last night DD messaged to say he had a constant hacking cough and a fever.
Despite being sporty (plays for Birmingham City under 8’s!) he uses an inhaler and had bronchiolitis as a baby. She was more positive this morning - I got a brief “Still got a temperature but not a big worry” and radio silence since. I have had a sleepless night (wouldn’t we all) and am thinking that at the very least, the other 2 will almost certainly get it (9 and 5) if not their parents too. DD and SIL have been draconian about the kids’ hygiene but all 3 will have been together since school finished on Friday, so it seems inevitable.
Oh dear.

Greyduster Wed 25-Mar-20 14:03:11

Hello the kitchen. After yesterday’s productive gardening afternoon, we were totally done in, so are having a gentle day today. I have been making shepherds pies to put in the freezer and have made two fish pies, one of which will go to DD as DH doesn’t eat them and she is very fond of my fish pie. I will give it to my son in law the next time he calls with groceries.
charley what a wonderful gesture towards your elderly friends. I take my hat off to you. Freezers seem to be as rare as rocking horse poo now!
After seeing all the lovely felines appearing in this kitchen, and hearing about the lives they lead, I have decided that I will come back as a cat! We lost our last cat nine years ago but I miss her still. Here is a pic of my DS’s cat, TomTom. He’s a very laid back fellow too, and spoilt rotten!
I agree to play an online word game with GS and he had the bit between his teeth from some uunearthly hour this morning, so I had to put the brakes on him and say I would only play either at lunch time or in the evening. Anyway, he was beating me! Some of his words were a bit suspect, but were not rejected. Hmm!
We are currently sitting in the garden wi
Th a cup of tea - peppermint in my case as I have terrible acid reflux recently. My medication has obviously thrown in the towel. Subconscious anxiety I suppose.
I’ll try and look in later. TOYA!

Lins1066 Wed 25-Mar-20 14:00:45

GrannyGravy hope you feel better soon, take care.
Enjoy your fresh veg Izabella, glad you are being looked after. We too will have a brisk walk soon.
I have enjoyed my coffee and an orange sitting on the patio in glorious sunshine, the bluest blue sky - and double hit of Vitamin C and D.
Grandmafrench we are watching the Crown too, just started Series 3, it is excellent.
There are a few rainbows in the windows around here, so nice to see.

Grannmarie Wed 25-Mar-20 13:47:33

Hello Soop and all friendly Kitchen Folk!

Thanks for the welcome, Galen, I'm in Lanarkshire in Scotland.

Love the cats, real and knitted!

I joined in , after a fashion, with Joe Wicks this morning...

Good fun, good for the mood, I just jog on the spot if I can't manage a floor exercise.smile

Going to have some home made chicken broth for lunch now, you are very welcome to a bowl or two!

Izabella Wed 25-Mar-20 13:41:43

dragonfly and soop have pm'd you both

Charleygirl5 Wed 25-Mar-20 13:40:47

Grandmafrench he is gorgeous and handsome. He looks so uncomfortable because he is marginally too large for it. Tara prefers a double bed, lying in the centre and me crawling in and almost gripping the edge to stay in bed.

A pity I cannot cross the channel at present or there may well be cat napping going on!

mbmb Wed 25-Mar-20 13:37:16

Baggs - you gave me a laugh when you said the best advice to Minibaggs was to turn the bike upside down. Easy when you know how.

I have been so heartened by all the offers of help flooding in via our local facebook page. I have a 'person' who regularly texts to see if I am OK. It's good to remember that there is so much kindness in the world.

Another beautiful day here and I am stuck in my flat! Thank god I haven't got children - it must be dreadful for families to be so cooped up. I've tended to skip the Good Morning page as everyone seems to be spending so much time in their garden. I'm glad they can of course but it does make me feel a bit wistful.

I bingewatched Malory Towers on the iplayer yesterday and I'm not ashamed to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Izabella Wed 25-Mar-20 13:22:19

Welcome fatboy (and your mum!)

A welcome delivery of fresh veg via volunteers this morning. I have had a brisk (ish) walk and coffee at home in the sunshine. I keep looking at dusty lampshades but they may have to wait until more nimble folk can visit.

This afternoon, a good book.

TOYA.

soop Wed 25-Mar-20 13:22:11

Grandmafrench Beautiful bonnie boy cat. Have pm'd you.

Grandmafrench Wed 25-Mar-20 13:22:11

We have other crazy inmates (DH not included) who would love to have their photos on this thread. I shall introduce these very slowly so as not to risk too much excitement at once for everyone. grin

Very impressed with your cycling averages and now your Son has worked out how much you do every day, you should be greatly encouraged. I have a real bike but that's not allowed here at the moment and anyway allowed just the 1km/ per outing/ per day. So walking, more slowly, passes the hour we are allowed and it does mean we can also shout at the neighbours as we go. DH is cutting the grass and then putting on the lawn sprinklers so that in a few days, we shall be able to weed and reseed lots of places to smarten up the lawn.

I'm going to make bread, clean what seems like eleventy thousand cat litter trays and later we will sit down with tea and to watch The Crown. Never saw it when everyone else did and we're enjoying it immensely.

Stay safe, all of you in that nice Kitchen. Keep an eye on the social distancing, though. Until tomorrow lots of flowers and sunshine from France.

Grandmafrench Wed 25-Mar-20 13:09:44

Here he is Soop - a fabulous boy who does so love a sewing basket (and he thinks he fits!).

soop Wed 25-Mar-20 12:21:13

My son informs me that I pedal approx 2 and a bit miles daily on my exercise bike. He has a head for figures. Not bad. Could do better. Will endeavour to do so. grin

soop Wed 25-Mar-20 12:18:17

Thank you N&G do keep coming in for a chat. You never fail to raise a smile.

soop Wed 25-Mar-20 12:15:47

Dear GrannyGravy, your chest infection will take time and patience to repair itself. Do take things easy, please. Us lot want you to be fully well.

Grannmarie I also consider the rainbow to be a symbol of hope. We shall all do our bit to keep hope afloat here in the kitchen. My word, are we going to celebrate when the time is right.

Grandmafrench I am really looking forward to seeing a photo of Fat Boy. I know that I shall fall in love with him.

Welcome back, Smileless. It's all change and we have to adapt to new rules and routines. My son who is housebound in London, is climbing indoor mountains : the stairs, duly measured and challenging him to mount and dismount the staircase for umpteen times a day. He is fit, He participates in the Red Bull challenges - mountaineering, paragliding...you name it, he does it. He now has a following on Facebook with like-minded people joining in the fun/challenge.
