Morning all,

Playing catch up as always.:-)

After a brief foray out on the threads I am retiring back here as I am totally saddened by how this situation has brought out the worst in some people .

Lets talk about better things - I put my homemade rainbows up in my windows this morning. The village children have a competition counting rainbows with stickers and prizes to make their solo walks with Mum and Dad round the village a bit more fun.

A kind soul we have never met delivered our bakery order this morning too. You will chuckle when I say we ordered muffins to have with a cuppa on Sunday …. slight miscommunication - I now have 6 double choc chip cakes with Easter eggs on top lol I'll have to eat them of course ( its a tough job but someone has to do it lol ) .

I do love a Chow Chow Dragonfly , young Cooper asked me for one for his knitted dog collection - I have added a picture of Weiwei the Chow ! Dexter would be welcomed into their home if you need a break ;-)

To everyone else in the kitchen , hope life is treating you kindly and that you all have a little sunshine in your day !

GrannyGravy13 Wed 25-Mar-20 11:15:56

I have tried to get back to normal today, chest infection is getting a little better each day.

Third lot of washing in machine, banana bread in the oven, dishwasher whirring away so I have five minutes to sit quietly in this oasis of calm - soops kitchen

It is a really difficult time for us all, but we have got this kitcheners keep well and safe.

Galen Wed 25-Mar-20 10:50:01

Granmarie wellcome and where are you? We have the rainbows round here as well

Grannmarie Tue 24-Mar-20 22:23:06

When I went for my wee walk, just around our streets, I saw some neighbours ' houses with children's colourful drawings of ? rainbows on their living room windows, facing out to the street.

What a lovely optimistic symbol of hope.

Night night, TOYA ???

Grandmafrench Tue 24-Mar-20 21:42:02

Oh I'm sad. I was a just looking at my post on this thread and it disappeared ! Never mind, I shall try tomorrow. I shall let you have a photo of my cat, Soop (who is called Fat Boy). Doodle , I wish I could send you some bread...but have to say we all love rice cakes, especially the dogs. Dragonfly what a wonderful furry bear of a dog - bet he's such good company. No wonder your DD misses him - there's a lot to miss. So pleased to hear everyone in such good spirits. We'll keep posting and safe and well and live to fight another day, won't we? Night all moon x

Smileless2012 Tue 24-Mar-20 20:32:03

Not been in the kitchen for a couple of days; big mistake as it takes ages to catch up with everyone's posts.

Wow; what a fabulous dog dragonflysmile

We went to our holiday lodge on Saturday and came back today; much earlier than planned. We'd already started packing when they came round this morning to tell us they were closing the site.

There were only half a dozen of us there. One elderly couple had gone specifically to self isolate as they both have underlying health problems and had asked if they could stay.

I do hope they can as they couldn't be better placed with just them and the permanent caretaker who lives on site.

It's great to be able to come to the kitchen and see so many uplifting and cheerful posts.

Stay safe TOYAflowers

Charley,glad you have a delivery sorted.x

Charleygirl5 Tue 24-Mar-20 19:33:12

Susan I did what any self-respecting person would do for two very vulnerable people.

Morrisons are doing a next day delivery and will deliver, using DPD, two boxes per household. That is the good news. The bad news is we have no choice- one will be a meat box and the other vegetables. The boxes will have "essentials" and each box costs £35. I am not sure about the delivery cost.

Definitely could be a lifeline.

Lins1066 Tue 24-Mar-20 17:59:48

A beautiful dog dragonfly.
I've talked to the neighbours opposite through open windows today. The local greengrocer is doing deliveries so phoned them this morning. Ordered what I would normally get and no more - a Savoy cabbage was included instead of hispi but I can live with that.
DD said that her doorbell went earlier and a child's packed lunch was left outside the door, by the time she got to the door the woman was in her car and away. She will have to ring the school tomorrow, what a pity that the child missed out on lunch today.
DH and I did smile though as DD is 34 tomorrow.

Baggs Do take care. Or else...wink

I am feeling all self satisfied. Twenty minutes hard pedalling going nowhere has invigorated me. I'm a strange lady. The bike came with instructions. I cannot locate them. If the distance reading on the monitor reads 100 extra each time I ride said bike, what does that reading equate to in yards and such?

I am logging off for today with the usual message. Thinking of you all.

I shall return in the morrow. smile moon]

Baggs Tue 24-Mar-20 16:13:56

Well, my shoulder complained about yesterday's mowing so I didn't do any today. The bone knitting is all done so I think it's soft tissue complaints. There is still a visible bruise on my elbow.

This afternoon I've been remotely helping Minibaggs to mend her bike. What with utubes n stuff... but the best piece of advice was "turn the bike upside-down". After that she got it fixed in no time ?

I saw mention of seeds up thread. I spotted some Yellow Rattle seedlings where I sowed some seeds last autumn. Hope they survive.

soop Tue 24-Mar-20 15:43:33

Galen Good for you. sunshine

Wow! The horoscope couldn't be truer. How on earth did anyone guess? wink

Welcome Dexter. Join the pampered pets gallery, beautiful boy.

CherryCezzy Do any other neighbours know the whereabouts of your friend? Are you able to make a few phone calls? Not knowing is certainly worrying.

dragonfly Fresh vegetable soup. Excellent nourishment. Thank you for virtually sharing with us lot.

I'm about to mount my exercise bike. A moment that makes me think...do I really need to do this? Of course I should. In twenty minutes time I shall be feeling all "glowing and self-satisfied. See you shortly. wink

Susan56 Tue 24-Mar-20 15:39:48

Dexter is a handsome fellow?
Not much to report from here apart from the vegetable patch is looking very neat.DH emptied one of the compost bins on it this morning and dug it in.
Charley, you are such a good friend, hope you manage to get the freezer filled.
DH is the cook since retirement too Soop.He makes every meal look so tempting.I had got to the stage after 30+ years of just throwing the food on the plate!
Cherry, hope you are feeling better and hope Ann is ok,I’m not sure if she hasn’t posted or if I have missed her post in the busy kitchen.
TOYA and stay safe everyone.

CherryCezzy Tue 24-Mar-20 14:45:42

That's a first for a horoscope Grannmarie! It's brilliant ?

Charleygirl5 Tue 24-Mar-20 14:44:39

Doodle Dexter is seriously cuddly. He is on a par with Hattie for cuddles I think but Tara would not be impressed.

Grannmarie please do not waste freezer space, it will not be in the fridge long enough either.

I agree, lovely to see a smile on your face Galen. You will need your thermals for this weekend I believe.
TOYA

Grannmarie Tue 24-Mar-20 14:42:17

Thanks, CherryCezzy, I bought it recently in A**a when my old one disintegrated! I liked the chalkboard surface.

Hope you are feeling a bit better and you find out about your lovely neighbour.

Grannmarie Tue 24-Mar-20 14:39:15

Have you read your horoscope, it's incredibly accurate...

CherryCezzy Tue 24-Mar-20 14:37:50

Grannmarie I love your slow cooker with its blackboard, never seen one like that before.
What a beautiful ? dragonfly, infinitely cuddly. I can't have a dog unless it's specially trained and that is too expensive for me to do so I am quite envy .
Me and my WP had a Monty Python argument earlier hmm as he doesn't want to ring the garage about our draining battery, the new one they only fitted 2 months ago, but we do need the car to keep running. I love him to bits ? but sometimes he can be infuriating. I can never be angry with him for long though and it was only a Monty Python spat grin
I glanced back at my chat in the kitchen yesterday and saw an auto correct in my post that gave be a little chuckle. I noticed that the first time I wrote blue tit it had corrected as " blue fit" which is what happens when I have a bad seizure and stop breathing. Now these seizures are going to be renamed as my blue fits grin.
I couldn't get hold of my next door but one neighbour yesterday and am quite worried now. She has a daughter but she lives alone and she is terminally ill. I don't know if she has now gone, as of yesterday, to stay at her daughter's for the foreseeable but I haven't been told that's the case. I've known her 18 years, she is one of life's pure souls and one of the few lovely neighbours around. I don't know what to think or do. I'm quite upset & worried.

Doodle Tue 24-Mar-20 14:24:17

galen glad Gary is still keeping an eye on you. All you need is a nice glass of something in your hand and a handsome waiter at your side and you could well be cruising. We have cancelled ours too but can’t be helped.
Hellograndmafrench and welcome ?
What a fantastic dog dragonfly like a big teddy.
Can’t reply to all but TOYA. Hope everyone is managing to get their medication and food supplies. I have a prescription at the pharmacy but not inclined to go and get it at the moment. Like many others, DH is on the shielded list so not allowed out and I don’t want to go in case I bring something back. At the moment we are ok for food and for some reason jars of jam. Haven’t got anything nice to spread it on except rice cakes ?
Keep well all ?

Grannmarie Tue 24-Mar-20 14:08:22

Thanks for the welcome, Dragonfly. What a beautiful dog, he'll be great company.

I'll put some curry in the freezer with your names on it!

Going for a wee walk now.. I may be some time...grin

dragonfly46 Tue 24-Mar-20 14:02:03

Galen good to see you are still smiling.

Dexter is my granddooy’s name and he is indeed cuddle some.

I hope everyone is keeping as cheerful as can be.
I had some fresh veggies so bunged them in some soup and left some on the side.
TOYA

annodomini Tue 24-Mar-20 13:52:51

Beautiful dog - just like a very big teddy bear.

Charleygirl5 Tue 24-Mar-20 13:40:41

It is early pm and I am exhausted already. In the past, I have been known for my organisational skills and today I had to dig deep and find them.

I have elderly friends, the fellow in his 90's his wife has just hit that age. He is very vulnerable with a whole list of medical problems. She is registered visually impaired. They do not have a freezer or a microwave and as they are having mega problems getting food etc. I have managed to buy a 6foot tall freezer for them and it will be installed this week. The delivery charge has been waived because the shop owner knows me.

Like callgirl one item after another broke down last year and I bought all items from his shop, Euronics but others are available. It does pay to be loyal because he is receiving a consignment of freezers on Thursday so I am top of his list and have paid for it on their behalf.

I now have to find somewhere which sells frozen goods so we can fill the boxes. The fellow is a very fussy eater, eg will not eat fish and that is what Iceland is best for. A thought for another day.
TOYA

Weather beautiful in NW London and my washing is outside for the first time this year. Until now it would have suffered from frostbite.

mbmb Tue 24-Mar-20 13:38:06

Oh dragonfly what a gorgeous dog!

Good old Sainsbury's came up trumps this morning and I was so excited! There were a few substitutions but what the heck. What amused me was that I had requested a bag of small potatoes which they didn't have but instead sent me one tiny potato for which they charged me 11p. I had to laugh.

The young man who delivered the stuff kindly brought it up in the lift for me and left it at the end of the corridor. I had said they could leave it in the lobby and I would carry it up myself. As he wasn't wearing gloves, and one good turn deserves another I insisted he take a pack of disposable gloves. I bought several packets ages ago for a DIY project.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 24-Mar-20 13:37:39

Beautiful dog dragonfly

I have just had to tell my cleaning ladies that I cannot have them here for quite some time, felt dreadful. I will pay them for this week, not sure about the next twelve weeks though?
