Most consultations only ask the questions they want answered in the way they want them answered. It's frustrating because you can't give the answer you really want to give!

Here is Rhona Hotchkiss, former governor of a women's prison in Scotland, speaking of her experiences of transwomen (men) being imprisoned with women.

Rhona makes the point that if a male criminal has a birth certificate stating that he is female, there is no way at all to prevent him from being housed in a women's prison.

The proposed changes will make it really easy for any man to make that change to his birth certificate.

It seems that, for years, the Equality & Human Rights Commission and the Government Equalities Office have given wrong information on the law about single-sex spaces.
