Lurkers' week: what's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

1. Keep your words sweet, one day you may have to eat them.
2. Never let a fool kiss you or a kiss fool you
Wish I’d taken more notice of the latter ?

Just be yourself and not someone , others expect you to be .

Always buy comfortable shoes and a comfortable bed you are in one or the other

Try not to say behind someone's back what you are not prepared to say to their face.

All things pass - no matter how bad things seem it won't be forever.

Never put down in writing anything you wouldn't like to hear read out in court.

There are three sides to every story, your side, their side and the truth.

So many but if I have to choose just one then, 'Remember that nothing lasts forever.'

Sometimes life isn't fair

Treat others as you wish to be treated is the best bit of advice

My mam told me to always take note of how a man respects and treats his mother when choosing a husband. I took no heed and learned my lesson the hard way.

Do no harm, but take no s***t.
My mother had pearls of wisdom for every occasion.

They didn’t all make sense, but out they would come!

Which sounds like an unkind thing to say, but it’s right! Once you stop worrying that you’re the centre of everyone’s attention, you get to be confident enough to do your own thing.

You can listen to gossip but never repeat it.
Don't think you are better than anyone else and they are no better than you.

My dad told me to keep my money separately, in my own bank account when married. I’m so glad I listened to him!

I want isn’t I need

Don’t say or do anything until you’ve stopped being angry about it

If you can’t afford it, then don’t buy it.

My mum told me if you are going to say something to someone think how you would feel if it was said to you. Wise words.

A husband isn’t worried about the fluff under the bed providing he’s having a good time on top of it.

When we bought our first house my mum told me to never leave dirt diches in the sink overnight always wash up and the kitchen will always look tidy,its something I have stuck to all my married life.
