Yes, at 63. Been dying it a nice light brown for many years. Tried to grow it out and let it go grey a few years ago. It looked awful and I looked about 10 years older.

I last had my hair dyed two weeks before starting chemo, hospital suggested I did not dye it again until six months after completing the chemo.
I found that my scalp was too sore so did not use dye again and just had my hair cut really short as the grey took over. Unfortunately my hair is not an attractive shade of grey but I think I will just live with it.

Yes, I dye my hair and will never stop. Grey hair puts 10 years on you. A friend who recently went grey said people suddenly started treating her like an old lady.

I went grey in my early 40’s. I began colouring it at the hairdressers and still do now. Over the years I have gradually lightened the colour. Also with it thinning, my scalp doesn’t show through as much as it would with dark hair. A lot of friends are surprised I colour it at all so it must look natural. I have a very pale skin colour so if I let it grow out white, I would look like a ghost.

I had bright ginger hair as a youngster and it has faded to a more strawberry blonde shade. I've never dyed my hair as I've always loved the colour. My hairdresser wanted to put pink streaks through it but I've say no. Natural till the day I die (dye). Happy Saturday.

I finally stopped having my hair coloured a couple of years ago after many years of having it done and gradually going lighter and lighter. It was surprisingly white - as was my mum’s, but I decided it was too flat and didn’t suit my colouring. I’ve now started having ashy-grey lowlights put in with foils and I love it, makes a huge difference to how I feel about that old lady I catch glimpses of in mirrors and shop windows!!!

My DGD pays to have silvery streaks in her hair! I still pay to NOT have silvery streaks in mine.? I do wonder whether I should save money, but I like how it looks so may as well keep going.

I am 79 and used to have auburn hair. Over the last 5 years the red tint vanished and I am now naturally blonde. I am lucky I think.

Still can't believe at 63 not a grey hair in sight and as blonde as when I was a toddler. If I did go grey I would dye my hair, I personally think grey hair is so ageing. My mum is 89 and she colours a mid blonde and takes 10 years off her compared to her grey friends, but of course each to their own as they say.

Yup. Nearly 75 and still doing it. If only it were white underneath I would let it grow out but it's horrid pepper and salt.

My hair is dull mouse with a bit of a blond Mallen streak at the front .
However at 79 I have it highlighted .
I think as one gets older one looks better with lighter hair.

My hairdresser puts in blond and caramel highlights. I would stop putting them in if my hair went all over white, but as I just have patches of grey it would look awful. I am 67.

I had mine dyed at the hairdressers for years but suddenly developed an allergic reaction about 15 years ago. Since then I’ve used herbal dyes which are fine but wash out quickly and take 2 hours to work. ? I’d like to go grey when I’m 60 but my children don’t want me to and my hairdresser says my grey is patchy so would look odd. Suppose I’ll have to persevere for now.

I had grey hair in my thirties and it went salt and pepper. I’ve dyed it ever since and am now platinum blonde. I haven’t a clue what my natural colour is but when my hair dresser tells me it’s nearly white all over then I’ll stop !

My natural hair colour is/was dark brown I dye it light brown. I fancy highlights but haven't been in a hairdressers for years, I'm not sure how to go about it. My neighbour ex hairdresser cuts it great but doesn't do colouring anymore. I haven't loads of grey but enough to need sorting. I'd be grateful for any advice please,almost 70 think it's time for a new'ish me. Thank you.

I usually colour my hair at home but I am going to try that Plantur caffeine brown shampoo and conditioner. £20 for both, would never normally spend that amount but I now wash my hair most days so hoping that it will build up enough to forego the separate colouring.

Well, I am 75, and ought to be completely grey by now.
The only reason I’m not is because I dye it myself.
I have always had black hair and I just can’t get used to the idea of being completely grey.

I only touch up the roots, but must admit it’s becoming a losing battle. When I see the grey creeping through it makes me feel depressed. So that’s why I still colour it.
I let it go so far and think, oh no, time for a root touch up.

At age 67 I’ve hardly got any grey hair, just a few bits of “glitter”. Last year my mum told me to stop dyeing my hair so dark as it didn’t suit me, and she would not believe my protestations that I do not dye my hair. Since then, 3 people I know well, have asked me what shade of brown am I using as it looks lovely ?. So I went on line and googled “ why is my hair going dark as I age” and evidently it’s down to the body’s production of something called “eumelanin”. I’ve never heard of it and nor had my hairdresser, but it’s there in black and white so I screen shot it and wave it under everyone’s nose when appropriate !

LoveFrank I love the idea of colour streaks. What do you use?

I get highlights rather than a block colour, overall effect is honey/caramel blonde but underneath layers at back are auburn and not going grey at all yet, I'm happy with it. Don't think I'll ever go completely grey unless I'm unable to ask for a hairdresser to visit me. My Mum was still colouring her hair till she died aged almost 90 and she still looked lovely with her pale golden blonde semi-permanent tint that she used to do for herself.

I stopped colouring a bout 4 years ago, just got sick of the whole process, now I have really nice silver grey hair and am loving it...

What does hair dye do to the environment, I wonder.... does not seem like a very good idea...
