Yes, very understandable NANNYNOONOO. However, just this morning I got a letter from Oxfam (where I'd taken the books) saying that I should rush to have a sort-out and donate by 31st March to get my Nectar points!

Understable at the moment.

I cannot go into my charity shop to work I m not sure how long they will stay open as 75% if the volunteers are retired and over We have about half a dozen younger and I don’t think it can survive long on that skeleton staff one of our other shops is 93% down on workers
I had no problems with going in or sorting bags you can wash you hands and the virus doesn’t live long on clothes anyway or other surfaces but the rules are partial isolation for over 70 s as of this weekend so I had to comply for the safety of others as much as myself
Very very sad it’s been my lifeline for six years but we ll get over it and put it behind us soon

I thought that might happen with donations and I also thought about many volunteers in the shops being over 70.

We had an Air Ambulance collection yesterday- I had a full bag of assorted items.

The charity I used to work for is refusing shop donations until further notice. I think many will do the same.

I volunteer in a charity shop and we've been given guidelines on handling donations. We've got gloves and sanitisers.
It's just customers that are in short supply.
Ringing ahead is a good idea.

I had a similar thought. Charity shops will suffer, as no one will want to go in browse and linger, even if they’re allowed to.

Yes, it has occurred to me that these shops may also be closing down for now so won't want much stuff. Everyone seems to be using the time to tidy and declutter but we may still have to store the stuff. I make things for a local shop but I may have to stockpile for a while.
