E-mail 10 days ago saying PayPal unable to take money from my bank and it would charge me £12 per day until paid.
Rang bank. They say DD set up and no money grab was attempted.
Rang PayPal - no reply
Rang later, after 20 mins, recorded message saying phone lines not available.
DD set up so why worry
30 mins ago received call from 0800 number, alleging to be PayPal and asking me to confirm name DOB phone, email address.
I said yes, I would confirm...and...waited...
'Are you there?' she asked.
'Yes'
Could you con...
Yes, but I can only confirm if you give me the details which you want me to confirm.
I need name, address, last 4 numbers...
Er, the word 'confirm' means 'agree' and I cannot agree if you don't give me the details.
It seems that no business nowadays has any idea what confirm means and I refuse to play ball with stupid at the end of a phone.

I said I'd ring PayPal myself as I had no idea who she was. Could be a scam.
Turned out that they'd attempted to take payment from another (closed) account and not from the active one linked to my PayPal account which showed on the app.
Dozy. ??

There is also a scam doing the rounds allegedly from PayPal. Also door to door scammers are selling CV cures and preventatives. It doesn't take long for these rats to sniff out a new chance to steal from the innocent.

Not sure if this has been posted before but a friend has just forwarded this from Facebook:

A friend has just received a phone call from 'Lloyds? Bank, saying that he doesn't have to pay interest on his credit cards, and he has a three month holiday on his mortgage, but they needed all of his details to check that he can have all of this!!!!He told them he didn't have any credit cards nor mortgage- they hung up. He checked with Lloyds, and yes it is a scam.

Stay safe and well.
