Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another bright start to the day here in Brackley.
Have lost a few kilos in weight this week, with a sore throat etc, which was making it hard to digest anything, I took a lemsip last night which has worked , plus a few nose bleeds as well.
With the lockdown ,spoiling a pleasures of going out anywhere .
Where I live restrictions have come into force as to 2M distancing, community lounge and kitchen out of bounds .
So its room only apart from local shop/bank .
As yet to get a letter if I am one billions who then would have stay put due to medications etc I am type 2 Diabetes but manage to control, plus other tablets like blood pressure, and things all under control .
Mick

Dragonfly I have PM’d you about returning goods to Amazon. - you will need patience but it is possible smile

Good morning from a foggy North East coast where the sea and the sky seemed to have joined up as one.

I feel so sad that Friday used to be my number one best day of the week but now it’s just the same as all the rest.

I do hope you are okay Mick you need to stay well to keep this lovely thread going . I think we will all be stir crazy before long.

I had very little sleep as usual with all the worry going round my head in the wee small hours. I can see from the posts above that I am not alone. These awful times seem to be keeping many of us awake at night.

I can picture a scene from Tom and Jerry in your house Kalu glad you managed so save the mouse but sorry it meant you got little sleep.

Glad to hear your little grandson is feeling better MawB and I do hope the rest of the family don’t catch it . ?

Enjoy you “special day” Beechnut I will raise a glass to you this evening .I like the idea of still dressing up for the occasion. smile

I went to the door at 8pm and was quite overwhelmed by how many people did the same . The clapping brought tears to my eyes. Someone in the distance shouted HIP HIP and everyone joined in HURRAY . It all seemed so surreal.

Had a call from my DD who is very upset and down at the moment . She took Evie to the door at 8pm and they both clapped for the NHS too. DD said that she was so excited and clapped and clapped for ages after they went in .

I miss them so much it physically hurts.

I had a chat with the accountant yesterday . It was kind of him to call me from home but heavens knows I lay him enough grin he said that I might be able to “Furlough” the lads wages (backdated) but wasn’t sure quite when the scheme would start. Not such good news for DH and I as although we are on the normal payroll someone has to be seen to run the business. (Me) and DH has been on the sick (without pay ) since October . We will see how it all turns out .

Anyway it’s going to be another long day and if the sound of the fog horn is anything to go by it’s probably quite chilly out .

Sending much love and very best wishes to all my wonderful Gransnet friends in these strange times. Hope everyone stays safe and well .

Love Gillybob x

Good morning from a misty NE.
Today is DD's birthday, she is in lockdown in Brussels but will be working from home. Not much point having the day off when you can't go anywhere.
I had messages from GC with photos, youngest looks happy enough but teenager isn't doing photos.
DH had to collect a prescription so went to Aldi and caught a lull, no queue around the car park. He was able to buy two packs of toilet rolls, just four in each but it meant we could leave one on my sister's doorstep. He could not get any eggs, the hens must have stopped laying.
DH should not be shopping but we have not been able to access any online services at all.
If taking over the counter remedies like Lemsip check your medication, I was told not to take Lemsip with BP tablets.
Take care of yourselves.

This sunshine just keeps coming ?. It’s been wall to wall for over a week now. Still a chilly breeze but can’t complain. ?Makes you think the world is normal ! We did a shop yesterday after 5 days of not going. We had to wait outside in an orderly queue until someone came out, and then we were let in one at a time. But once inside we certainly weren’t 2 metres apart. A shelf filler came right up to me as I got some pasta off the shelf and stood beside me to re stack the shelf. About a foot away! We are so careful when we go out on walks and then in the shop it’s a different matter. I’ll try not to shop for a good while. DH Is going to do his paper round tomorrow for us and neighbours but that should be it for another week. I love Gareth’s choice of song. - You are my sunshine’ . Always sing this to my GC. Keep well.

Good Morning All x.
Beautifully sunny again which has been a treat this week.
Strange yesterday. On returning from the corner shop for top-ups of cat food, I bumped into a neighbour and we chatted----10ft apart, nobody else about. After she went, I was walking leisurely along and a funeral procession was coming along the road towards the prom.

First thing I noticed was a name in flowers and it was the GGC's dad, so I stopped and noted all the cars, loads of them, 2 behind the coffin ( families ) then saw D's car which is a big black Chrysler looking like part of the funeral business, then a couple of little faces so I gently waved. GS was sitting in front with his mum, aww, he's the same age as the deceased.
The sun shining on all the flowers was uplifting in a way for his final farewell. I was glad I was in the right place at the right time.

Mick, keep an eye on that throat as this virus hits the throat making it feel like swallowing glass. It's imperative to rest as much as you can. Drink hot water if you can and take paracetamol every 4 hours. Heinz chicken soup to help with your appetite and blood sugar levels. Hope you're okay. Ring 111 if you're not.

Thinking of everyone during this time----it's difficult. I don't know how Gillybob's going to get on with this scheme about payment. June ?? What's everyone supposed to do in the meantime ?
Staying well is the main thing this next two weeks and stay in too.

Thankyou to those for their kindness yesterday it was noted and appreciated xx.

Have as decent a day as you all can and make the most of the weather today before the arctic blasts at the weekend.xx

DoraMarr Fri 27-Mar-20 07:48:32

Good morning from a rather overcast Birmingham. Lots of people clapped from their balconies and windows here, and some families in neighbouring roads set off fireworks. I think we should have another round of applause soon for shop workers- the security guard at the Aldi opposite did a twelve hour shift, standing at the door and directing people to queue sensibly, and allowing a few people in at at time, with great good humour.
I shall go for my normal walk today, slowly with my friend who walks with a stick, then faster by myself. Then I MUST do some housework. I had a very lazy afternoon yesterday, and to my horror realised I had eaten a whole bag of mini walnut whips!
Take care everyone. I hope there is a ray of sunshine in everyone’s life today.

A poignant post Calpurnia which touched me greatly.
? for you. x

Good morning All - what a resilient lot we are. It is comforting to know that we are trying to make the most of these difficult and challenging times - but we will Carry On.

My poorly husband does not wake up until 10.30 ar least, thanks to weapons grade painkillers and sleeping tablets (and a hefty nightcap as approved by his GP) so I can go out for my walk and be back before he wakes up.

As his sole carer I really need my solo walk to clear my head and have time to think. I come back ready to start another day
of looking after someone with whom I have shared fifty three years knowing time is running out.

My walk takes me along a quiet seafront road then into a little valley - a gem down here in Devon. I noticed banks of wild garlic yesterday that were covered in dew and the early morning sun shining on them made it look as though they had been sprinkled with millions of diamonds. It was a wonderful sight.

I hope to get my husband out to sit in the garden after lunch when it warms up a bit and I will do some sewing. Of such simple things our lives are now made.

Stay out of harm’s way and keep safe.

Urmstongran Fri 27-Mar-20 07:42:40

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s sunny looking out from the balcony towards the Mediterranean but huge black clouds over the mountains at the front door!

Day 13 out of the 29 day lockdown. I’m wearing my slippers out. I’ve only worn shoes once when I went out (joyous) to the pharmacy on Monday!

Glad your grandchild is better Maw. As we know all children spike temperatures and get mini viruses all the time but to get one now would, at first, freak a family out.

Hoping gillybob got some reassurance last night from Dishi Rishi, let’s hope that it turns into hard cash soon.

Hope Friday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone. x

NanKate Fri 27-Mar-20 07:42:30

Morning Mick and All.

Another bright but cold day here in South Bucks.

Glad you are feeling a bit better Mick you are important to us. Good news Maw ?Enjoy your celebration Beechnut ?

DGSs have been told they must finish school today although their mum works for the NHS because she will work from her home and our DS works from his home with the boys moving between them. I do hope they will be able to return to school in September if not before.

My little hand held Thesaurus/Dictionary arrived yesterday. I’m quite excited about it.

Grammaretto Fri 27-Mar-20 07:35:06

Good morning from a very foggy Scottish Borders.
The mice are up staying at their second home. I've had to set traps as we don't have a cat any more.
We were at the upstairs window banging saucepans last night and will be there again today.
Exercise today to be yoga on zoom if I can connect. I must finish knitting a small present for DGD whose birthday is coming up.
Losing kilos of weight would be serious if it happened here Mick so do make sure you are eating well and looking after your health.
That applies to us all children!! wink
Stay safe.

Brunette10 Fri 27-Mar-20 07:33:09

Good Morning from a very dull and drizzly Fife. Not much planned for today apart from collecting prescription hopefully and our usual daily walk. Did some batch cooking again yesterday so def enough food for a while and won't need to do that dreadful shop as I did yesterday. Only 2 did the clapping last night in our street we were one of them, I was disappointed at the turnout. Everyone seems to be so far handling our dreadful situation, keep it up folks and I said before we shall get through it. Look after yourselves everyone - thinking of you all with extended worries.

Kalu Fri 27-Mar-20 07:32:40

I like what you did there kitty. Going out for the applause as opposed to going out for the clap! ??

dragonfly46 Fri 27-Mar-20 07:25:52

Good morning from a murky Leicestershire.

Most of our street came out to clap at 8 last night. It was very moving.

I ordered the wrong dog food from Amazon so that is going to have to be sent back at great expense. Does anyone recommend a good carrier?

brook2704 Fri 27-Mar-20 07:24:38

Good morning everybody from a dry cold morning in Inverness with sun just trying to peep through the clouds
Mick please look after yourself, I’m so sorry you’re limited to your room but please come back on here for chats, company and support
Our little cul de sac all came out to clap last night , it was quite touching with neighbours enthusiastically waving from their front doors
I’m actually quite enjoying my daily walks from home and seeing local things I’d not noticed before.
I hope everyone is managing to get through these difficult days in the best way they can
Good news MawB ?
Have a the best day you can Beechnut and good for you for getting your best togs on !
Take care everyone ?

Sark Fri 27-Mar-20 07:23:47

Good Morning everyone from a sunny Oxfordshire
Beechnut wine
The clapping last night was lovely I thought.
My cousin is a paramedic and is in hospital with the virus ... we are keeping fingers crossed for him.
For some reason my post would not work yesterday so hopefully this one will!
Best wishes to all

kittylester Fri 27-Mar-20 07:20:45

Morning all from a cold, frosty and misty North Leicestershire.

We went out for the applause but were disappointed that not many of our neighbours did the same.

I had an awful night's sleep as did DH - no idea why.

Glad that DGS is getting better, maw. Mick please take care.

Sending love and hugs to gilly but wish I could do more

Maybelater2020 Fri 27-Mar-20 07:13:30

Good morning to you all from a cold but sunny Chester. Hope it turns out to be as warm as yesterday. I have been awake since 5.00 coughing, so thought I might try my luck at online grocery shopping, no luck. I will have to manage over the weekend and brave the shops next week. Another quiet day for me doing very little. I will sit in the sun and read and just enjoy being alive. Take care all.

aggie Fri 27-Mar-20 07:11:40

Good Morning all, I hope your throat is better today Michael
Cold but no frost this morning, I hope it brightens later , the garden is ignoring the virus and looking cheerful, with Aubretia , primula and daffodils one bright red anemone just outside my window

Lins1066 Fri 27-Mar-20 07:07:30

Good Morning Mick and all. It is a cold and sunny start here on the S Welsh coast.
We were on the doorstep last evening at 8pm to applaud the NHS workers, most neighbours were out. When DH was putting the recycling out before that, a young neighbouring couple shouted across to him to let them know if we needed anything. That was kind of them.
Our lawnmower has been MOT'd and was returned by a local firm yesterday morning, it is the first time I have anti- bac 'd ( if that's the right spelling) a lawnmower!
I hope that Friday is safe and kind for us all.

Nortsat Fri 27-Mar-20 07:05:59

Good morning Mick and the GM team.
Sorry to hear about your throat Mick. I think Lemsip are really good and quite comforting, glad they worked for you.
Scentia it would be lovely to see a photo of you cycling whilst exercising your dog ?

I am on day 11 of ‘shielding’, being in a high risk group. My partner is off to Waitrose for a top up shop. I would love to go with him ... suddenly a top up shop sounds like a nice activity.

Thinking about our Easter menu ... not quite sure how that will work.

Sorry to read on other threads about GNs worries with parents, vulnerable loved ones and missing DGC. These are strange days... Good thoughts to all, especially those in sick bay. ?? (its another day for double flowers)

BlueBelle Fri 27-Mar-20 07:05:31

Good morning all looks a beautiful sunny start to the day but haven’t been out yet
So what shall I do today ? More gardening more tidying more tv more emails ? Getting tedious but hey ho only another three months to go
Yes I went out and clapped last night I wish we could have a weekly ‘go to your front door thingy’ something to look forward to in the monotony

NfkDumpling Fri 27-Mar-20 07:05:17

Morning All

Yet another brilliant morning here in the north of Norfolk. No contrails to been seen as yet. There were a few yesterday and it was like a science lesson watching how they expanded and clouded the sky.

Just before eight o’clock last night, we heard a noise from outside in the road and went out. Stood on our front door step and joined in the clapping and cheering up and down the street. It was very moving. I hadn’t expected anyone to appear as, although everyone is happy to pass the time of day, people around here are there if you need help but otherwise keep to themselves.

We should be waking up in Somerset this morning in our little van, but instead will be sorting out the fence where it blew down in the gales!

Beechnut Fri 27-Mar-20 07:01:25

Good Morning everyone. It’s a frosty bright start once again on Severnside.

It’s a significant date today and as I’m unable to carry out my original plans under the circumstances I still plan to put on my best togs, have a special meal, facetime DD and raise a toast.

Hope you all have the best time you can x ? ??????

BlueSapphire Fri 27-Mar-20 06:59:08

Good morning everyone from a sunny and frosty morning in Northampton. Take care Mick and hope you feel better soon.

I have been up for ages; DDIL is now working from home and they would like to borrow my study desk and chair; they have tried ordering online, but the waiting time is 22 weeks! Couldn't sleep so I got up early, and managed to move desk and chair to just outside the back door (so they wouldn't have to come in), awaiting collection - today, I thought, but now DS has just told me they can't pick it up till tomorrow! Hope it doesn't rain!

So now sitting with a cup of tea, a ginger biscuit and a cat on my lap, planning today. A curry to put in the slow cooker, and then more gardening this afternoon.

Did anyone go out to clap last night? Only two of us in our close, but we could hear a lot of shouting and cheering coming from surrounding streets.a

Take care everyone.
