I think that possibly we will have waves of this virus once we are on the downward curve and some restrictions are lifted. When people start mixing again it could well start spiking also I think it may calm a bit during summer and return in the colder weather. It remains to be seen whether any large spikes in numbers will trigger further lockdowns. Don’t forget until there is a vaccine or a way of successfully treating it, there are bound to be problems.

Apart from the first evidence coming in from China, it's still all up in the air a bit. No one really knows for sure how it will affect each country. The problem is that in countries with less control than China, people could begin to take the 'well I haven't got it so I don't need to quarantine attitude' and start moving about and mingling too soon.

I wish we had more information but they can't tell us what they don't know.

“So when will all this be over? When will you be able to comfortably leave your house and return to some kind of normal activities?

Unfortunately there is no simple reassuring answer to that question, and although this will end at some point in the future, that point may still be at least 12 to 18 months away. In his latest media briefing, WHO Director General Tedros reiterated a message he is broadly trying to communicate to many countries right now – these initial lockdown measures are about buying time to establish broader systems of control and ease pressure on healthcare agencies.”
